Remembering Denny Freeman: An Austin Blues legend
I love this song but when I first heard it thought it was Ray Charles what I say part 3 or something
me on every first date
This is a cool little tribute, and I thank you - but somebody needs to make a full on documentary about contemporary Texan roots musicians like Denny Friedman, Derek O'Brien and Lou Ann Barton etc. I just looked through a list of 70s/80s Texan blues musicians and O'Brien wasn't even there. If Dylan asks you to play with him, you're doing something right.
Doug and the Dr were BOTH GREAT!
He was fringing great! Have every album!
Flaco Jimènez for ever 🪗🎸🎼⭐️👋
I'm only the 8th commenter? That's f'n BULLSHIT!! Love the tone she gets out of her guitars. Perfect for crankin' the volume into oblivion.
👍

I used to see Doug at The Soap Creek Saloon in Austin Texas back in 1975 , he was great, a great musician and a great band leader
Great playing
Lovely singer.sad hes gone😂from perth australia.
I have been a fan since "She's About a Mover" was first on the charts. I played him in the barracks while the other sailors were jamming to Pink Floyd and Super Fly. Once in the early eighties I mentioned his name to my wife's ex, who was managing Mitch Ryder at the time, and he had a story of Doug seeing him on the street in New York and jaywalked to talk about some new project he had going. He remembered everyone he met.
Met Doug and Augie when we opened for them. Great .Became a really BIG FAN! FOREVER!
I use to see Doug Sahm at Soap Creek Saloon and a little place off of The Drag , Guadalupe Street,The Holee in The Wall , and he was always in Oat Willie's bopping around, this was in the early and mid 1970s , he was a great musician and band leader, his record Last of The Real Texas Blues Bands with Denny Freeman and George Rains , is a tremendous record
yes, it was the best of times
Doug Sahm was a musical genius who had the ability to put his stamp on different genres of music. I first discovered his talent from listening to Uncle Tupelo's, "Give Back The Key To My Heart." Hopefully Hollywood will do a movie on his life because his musical talent needs to be recognized.
Doug and the boys were the Real Deal Holyfield.
The music that he was doing with his boys was legit grunge rock and music and it really good stuff.
I saw some great musicians at The Armadillo World Headquarters, , I saw Jerry Garcia several times, Freddie King several times, Alvin Crow and his brother, Joe Ely , Boz Scaggs , and the list goes on and on, The Armadillo World Headquarters had the best nachos in the world and cold Lone Star, it was hot in the summer and cold in the winter but it had the best music in the world
😂😂😂
Elton John almost canceled his first performance at The Trubador when he saw Leon Russel in the crowd. Elton was also inspired by Garth Hudson ❤
One talented Handsome man❤️❤️I wish I could have met him
The nerve of that clown to say that at 7:21. Total BS.
Damn, Shiner and Lonestar were cheaper than Bud and Schlitz!!
Doug Sahm encompassed all forms of american music and crystalized it. He did it all about as good as it could ever be done. RIP Sir Doug!
Saw Doug at the club Jonathan Swifts in Harvard Square probably early 1980s
