Yep, I live in Japan so it’s pretty easy to get into. Been playing for around 4 or so years now. My wife loves the game, she put in over a thousand hours so far
This video finally convinced me to get into X! 3 weeks in and I just bought the full game to gain access to the bazaar, got the app installed and trying to unlock all the classes and unlock the poses for each class! Thanks for making this video this game is so damn good man
They probably wouldn’t have made a profit… or at least a significant enough one to satisfy them. I love dqx and would adore an official english release but I honestly do get why they didn’t bring it here. They would have had to build servers, maintain regular game updates in multiple languages, etc, etc. Especially back in 2012 when DQ was even more niche in the west. Proof of this is the short lived (3 years or so) Chinese release, which discontinued service years ago now.
@@jackmahoney7481 DQ XI + Warriors + Builders have been successful in the west. The west is the biggest consumers of mmo's too (WoW/FFXIV is mostly played in europe/north america.) This would be like not making an rpg for the PS2
@@chronoatog5650I feel like slowly the series is catching on in the west as turn based RPGs are becoming popular again. With Hero in Smash and DQ remakes coming up, I think we’ll get it to be a mainstream game. I am fairly confident 12 will be the one that makes the series mainstream and well known among gamers.
I think there is a chance of this getting localized. I heard that this game is getting remade as a strictly single player game and designed to be more in line with other DQ titles.
Went to Japan this year and bought the offline version. Still have a lot to do, it takes a million brain cells to translate everything, but enjoying the story and refreshed at a ‘new’ dragon quest story for my heart to sink into! I want to try the MMO now!
Got it this year on ps5, it’s now my favorite DQ. Once you reach ver3 the story is great and there is voice on the dialogue starting at version 5. I am Japanese but live in US barely got back to it.
I'm so glad I recently discovered your channel. You do a great job of covering so many random MMOs, its a fascinating genre. I would love to see you cover The Realm Online, one of the first MMORPGs, it came out in 96 and is still running. I've never seen a single competent youtube video about it, might be something you should check out. Anyway keep up the good work!
I actually planned to at one point. I remember running across it on Facebook one day. If I ever get time I’d definitely do it. Sierra Entertainment was the devs right?
Definitely going to have to try out DQX. I had played a couple of DQ games but XI was the one that made me really fall in love with the series and go back to revisit them all.
I started in the beginning of this year and i am at v6 now. I am playing on my switch in japanese and love it. It made me love so much the series i am playing dq3 2d-hd that some friends gifted me. ❤
I'd pay to fully play this game if it ever gets an English release, but ain't doing any pre-set up stuff since.. well, the experience is fully made for Asia, etc, it happened to PSO2 (and i really loved that game when it came out) so with a bit of luck... well, who knows, or maybe it will just finish and never come, great video anyways
I honestly never knew this game existed but since seeing some people in public playing this on their switch’s in Japan really really makes me want to play this now
🙏I really wish that if SE ports DQ IX to mobile, PC and current consoles, they'd keep at least the local co-op feature. Better yet, add online and they might be able to gauge interest in an online DQ outside Japan.🙏
I’m still praying for a West release I won’t give up! I know they know we want this game! Maybe I’ll try to play now with the translation just to get a taste
I'm a big fan of what the fan community has done here, love me some Dragon Quest, and have played my fair share of imports over the years (even brute forced my way through a few games too, my favorite import that I've beaten to date probably being EX Troopers a.k.a. "Anime Lost Planet Academy") but yeah, this is too many hoops to jump through for me, lol. I really like looking into it every once in awhile though - the lack of turn-based MMO combat on the market has really bummed me out for some reason. It just seems like something more games should've at least TRIED by now - just instance you and your party into a battle and then in the overworld encircle you guys in a sphere or something so outside players can't bother you, I dunno. But no one really has. I actually really like the idea of the DQX's shoving mechanic too. When I heard of it initially I thought it was silly, but then I started watching 'Saigancat' playthrough the game a few years ago, and saw them desperately running over to a spellcaster to shove them out of the way of an attack while charging up magic, and it clicked instantly. Again, something FAR more games should've done and ripped off. At any rate, it's sad but I probably will never go through this process to give this a shot. Personally, I'm shifting my hopes to Square someday translating Dragon Quest X _Offline:_ Rise of the Five Tribes for us English speaking markets instead. I dig the chibi visuals they implemented in that version anyway, and it just seems more likely that if any variation of this DOES get the greenlight for translation, it'll be a normal, paid-for, boxed, premium product with no live service elements to worry about. It's an easier sell over here, y'know? At least it just feels that way to me... Great video! DQX really needs more English coverage, so it's cool to see such quality work here!
You are correct. Square blocked the first version. This is changed footage to hopefully be more in line with their video policies. Hopefully it doesn’t get blocked again. Would suck to put all the time into the video for it to get wiped.
I'd do anything for them to just release worldwide servers for this game... Dragon Quest VIII and the franchise in general has been my favourite since I was 6/7 years old. I've tried multiple times to get the community english patches and etc working on my pc to no avail. I'd pay practically any amount if they'd bring it over to the west.
It would be great if there was an English version getting released it can help me beat the Japanese version I bought for the PS4 the reason I bought the PS4 over the PS5 is cause the PS5 doesn’t let you play then the PS4 version only PS5 version don’t know why when you buy the physical copy you don’t get both but if you buy the digital PS5 you get both
@@VagrantVideos Now that I'm done listening to the full theme, it is definitely similar although less intense and more melodic than usual. 8 is my favorite too, along with 2, 3, & 7. I got to know all of the battle themes because of DQH (2014), that game was my first taste of DQ. But for some reason, 10's battle theme wasn't in that game.
you should mention you cant use chat without the sub, also i think it would've done well over here, theres a decent amount of DQ fans, im not even one, i played a bit of 8 and most of 11 and i think this game is good, better than those two, especially with the feeling of scale and the combat
My problem is I don’t have a PC to run it, I played the Dragon Quest X Offline Demo on my Nintendo Switch with no Translation just a couple websites. Planning on getting a PlayStation 5 but was wondering since you need a monthly subscription it probably won’t be as easy as installing the game and playing as with the Offline Version. And I want to play with all the content so I would have to play Online Version.
I think in most cases most English speaking players looking to play DQ10 have played FF14 and are looking for something completely different. Especially considering all the setup required. I’ve played 14 and it’s alright, just reminds me of WOW too much. I prefer FF11 personally.
Are you playing Dragon Quest X?
Trying to get a PC
Yes. Just started Version 3. I liked Version 1 well enough, but Version 2 is where the story really starts to become nice.

It’s a blast! I’m still getting on and playing when I can!
still to this very day, i just dont understand why Square Enix never gave this gem to us in it's full beauty. it's such a shame

LOL, well hopefully one of my videos is enjoyable then.
This game would have been a hit on the switch, even today if by some miracle decides to be released in the west
I wonder what stops them from doing it?
It's literally a software that takes no manufacturing cost.
Maybe just text translation and that's about it.
This game would do well in the west i think, dunno why they don't release it globally
