I enjoyed your review, but found your reasoning for the climate change confusing. What made you think the creatures themselves were controlling climate? I think it's the players who are responsible. I see the players as "gods" so to speak, adding creatures to a once desolate planet. The players cause the climate change, but from the creatures PoV, the climate change is random and they need to adapt to survive.
