    😭 hi Sara.
I just moved my family far away from my first home and for the first time in a week I started watching your videos again.
You're the closest most comfy thing I have in my life right now. Thank you ❤

The black streaks on the trunk of birch trees are called lenticels, and their function is to enable the exchange of gases between the tree and the air.

This was so much fun. I really enjoyed it. I have found that when my tape sticks I use a heat tool on a low setting for just a couple of seconds and it releases the adhesive on the tape just enough to pull it off without tearing. The thing that has drawn me to Let's Make Art if the enthusiasm that you and your whole team have when doing these tutorials. I just get so excited about Art. Thank you

Birches are the state tree of NH. That's why are mts. are called the White Mts. We have a lot of birches! Birch bark is also good for making canoes.

I do it all for myself -- for my BRAIN. I don't mind throwing it away or tearing it up. Impermanence is good.

I just now discovered this channel and am 100% in love already. I'm rather new to this world, so I'm super loving the kids videos ~ you make me feel I can do the "scary" things! THANK YOU!!

I love how your tape doesn't tear the watercolor paper, can you share the type of masking tape you use? Thank you so much. Very very nice watercolor.

Oh, the gold is an acrylic, that's why you can paint on cloth with it. Back in the 90's I used to paint with acrylics like they were watercolors. Watered them down a lot. You have to mix in a special medium to the paint so it will stay in the fabric. I did a lampshade for my daughter and a sweatshirt. She was about 6.

I've painted birch similarly, and love the tape trick. When learning how to paint birch, the art instructor told us that the black markings above the horizon line should be shaped more like a rainbow and below the horizon line, more like a smile. Just an interesting observation; not a critique :)

This is the most fun project! I did it as you directed and also as a card. Now I am working on it with a cartoon theme for my son. I'll share on social media so you Llamas can see it!

LOVED THIS! My ONLY minor critique was the lack of tape in the box. That is a needed supply not listed on the supply list.

@Leslie Galloway that's great for those who got that prior box but I did not.

but if you want to catch the the true essence of trees, first read the short story ' the willows ' by Charles Blackburn , only piece I have reread three times...you will never look at trees in the same way! I agree with you about not being so protective of your work - i personally to do a lot of rubbing and scrubbing - sometimes you have to break through in sheer frustration...
