As Rachel wrote, you are definitely a Jeanious. I am with you on 100% cotton. Rigid denim rules. I love to wear jeans as they morph to my body and morph into their future selves. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and newsletter. Thank you. ❤
This video was extremely valuable. The three categories of clothing that is the most challenging and not fun to shop for are: (1) bras (2) bathing suits and (3) jeans. I finally realized that high-rise works best for my 5'1 stature. I find that these are the most comfortable for me as well. The 100% sturdy cotton jeans are probably the best to purchase. I agree with you that they are the most authentic jean. That being said, it is nice to have the 1% elastane to add a bit more comfort. Thanks, Emily.
Nice tips! I’m a fan of 100% cotton, or as close to that as possible. Very high rise, both button and zipper fly. I plan to try raw denim soon and appreciate the tips in that regard. Thanks!
Thank you for the denim education😊 I, too, have become a denim collector. 💙 but just recently have learned about 100% denim vs. Not (in all "Not's" iterations.) It's all good. So many more possibilities of denim to explore and collect! Also, I purchased the Vagabond Shoemakers flatform/wedge boot, same as yours. Love them, very comfortable.
Back in the 70’s, we had Levi’s or Wranglers. Dark wash. You had to put them on and sit in a tub of hot water so they would shrink to fit. The guys used to send them to the Chinese laundry to get them faded, or we would scrub them with powder bleach. I love jeans, I have multiple pairs in different cuts.
Love these tips! I just bought 2 new pairs this week. I love that you review how to style older denim trends (like skinny jeans) so we can still wear them. Some denim is too expensive not to wear! Wear them and love them!
Emily i watch you religiously. this was a helpful overview. but i need now the next overview about how to actually pick these perfect jeans. as in how? where to go in person? where to go online? how to figure out the right cuts? you like $400 pairs of jeans. i am willing to start with $150 - $200 pair of jeans and see how it goes before upgrading to $400 pairs. i have checked out some of the companies you like (from your other jean videos) and i get super overwhelmed at the options.
I discovered Frame in 2021 and it quickly became my go-to. Now that I'm in my late 30s, I can't do low rise anymore, but high rise is horrible on me. My perfect jean is mid-rise straight leg (their le high straight is truly a mid-rise on me), but a full length 29-30" inseam (no ankle showing). I need a bit of stretch to deal with weight fluctuations. I will only continue to wear my slim jeans in black.
Im not sure about the rise butni like the high rise and mid rise with a boot cut or wide leg on my inverted triangle with a little stretch, not more thań 3% great video 😊
Another great video, Emily! Questions: I know my style faves, yet I don't want to pay more than $100 or so for a pair. What are your favorite stores that fit this category? I also have found that sizes vary wildly between stores. Are there specific places where the jeans run true to size? Even though I look at the sizing chart, the sizes are often inaccurate. Most nice jeans can only be purchased online. I hate buying and returning countless times to get jeans that fit. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
Mens Levi 501’s or 505’s are the best jeans--thrift them for 10 bucks. Buy them 3 sizes over your normal waist size…. If you wear a size 30 get 33 or 34!!!!
@@lizaosullivan265 I can wear men's pants. One of my friends always wear the 501s. Wranglers always fit me better when I was younger, but I will try Levi's again! Thanks!
My favorite jeans with 1% elastane just started to do that rippling when the elastic fibers give up. Sick of having to get rid of stretch denim within 5 years of purchase 😩
A classic problem! My thighs are wider than my hips/butt, so if I have the waists of my jeans taken in I may not be able to pull them up over my thighs anymore.
What a lot of helpful information, thanks! Can you make "Part 2: Jeans" and help us figure out "what works best on me." With the variations of lengths and silhouettes now, and rises, it is difficult to tell! Also, Booty fit. I have a rather straight figure with no butt or much hips (I can take buttoned/zipped jeans off without undoing them) but if they fit in the butt they are too tight in the waist. And, being 5' tall, even in petite or short sizes, the pockets often sit way too low, adding to the saggy butt look. I'd love to find a "brand" that fits me - I would be a loyal customer! I have pulled my 501s out of storage from college (1971) with all the embroidery I did on them, and they still fit. Real denim, button fly. I find it very hard to find 100% cotton nowadays?
S.Hines, I have a similar body type with 3 very tall daughters. The jeans I'd embroidered for their dad MEN's button fly 501's from the 70's) were their favorites. Men's jeans also work well for those of us with less booty. Conversely, cropped jeans for tall people are exactly the right length for me, but, like Emily said, nearly impossible to find without the distressing being in the wrong places.
I can never figure out whether I better suit a straight jean, a mom or boyfriend cut, high or mid rise… I’m skinny but with sticky-out hips and somehow a very high rise on me doesn’t give me a waist, it just looks dorky… and the legs of jeans are always either too baggy on me or we’re into skinny jeans territory 😫
@@erinlikesacornishpasty4703 I have but they just don’t suit my style at all. I want a straight silhouette, it’s just about figuring out how lean I can go with that and exactly where the rise should be. (I lean toward a mid rise and a slightly loose cigarette leg but that is so difficult to find.)
I am a collector too and only like and wear 1 pair I have! For me, i find jeans so uncomfortable. I bet I need cotton only and size up. I am more of a dress person but like the look of jeans underneath so maybe I will stick with my jeans looking legging.
Hello Emily! 🪷 I love your newsletter! Every issue is different, informative, inspirational, and interesting!🙌🏻 Recently, I've been cutting my hair short like yours. I got a lot of compliments from women, but men seem to hate it! 😅 Do you have similar experiences? I love my new cut tho! 🫶🏻 Thank you for being such an inspiration! ❤
Thanks Emily you truly are a Jeanius😅😅😅

Brilliant! So helpful! Would you be open to doing a part 2. Selecting several styles of jeans you feel are most flattering on your body and why!? 🙏
Your intro joke was so corny it was funny. Made me laugh! 😂❤

Wow! This is the best presentation I have ever heard on jean styles and fit and details! Thank you, thank you! This is excellent !
Love all your bad pun jokes!
Seriously. The best explanation of how to buy jeans ever. Light at the end of a black hole.
Good stuff
I have a short torso so mid-rise is what works, not high-rise
Best video ever!
Gosh Emily that transition with the music and showing the fits EmiDently Jeaniussssssss😅 you are always my fav! Xo❤
Ahhh thank you so much Zaida!
Thanks, my dear. This is really helpful for thinking through, shopping and analyzing the look!!
Love it thanks again. Keep up great work 👍. Lot's if love 💘♥..
Emily, you just make me smile! 😘
This is honestly the best video on jeans that I've seen. I feel much more empowered!
Oh I am so glad to hear that Megan! Thanks for that comment. :-)

Thank you Emily love you’re honestly outfit looks great and so easy to wear 👏👏👏👏❤️🇬🇧
Today I learned some things about 100% cotton! Excellent video, however I’m really here for your jokes 😂. Love, love, love your content.

Well done, Emily! A really great video!
I prefer 100% cotton too!! It holds me better and doesn't bag out. I'm pretty over stretch jeans.
I guess I am going to have to shell out more money for a decent pair of jeans!
Fab tips. Thanks, Emily ❤
Great video! I own several of these! I love moussy jeans too! Can you share what boots you are wearing? Thanks
Great tips!! Thanks! 😊

I wish I could find jeans to fit it’s impossible. My hip size is 4 times bigger than my waist size
A classic problem! My thighs are wider than my hips/butt, so if I have the waists of my jeans taken in I may not be able to pull them up over my thighs anymore.
Would love to do one stop shopping at a store that provides all options for jeans you listed. Any Ontario Canada viewers know of a place?
I too thought I was a minimalist in jeans then I added up how many pairs I had. Lost that argument big time. Think I need a clear out.
