    Excellent Emily....💜your videos...I’m 70 years young , classic with an edge has been my go to. You are the first intelligent fashion person I have come across. You break the steps down which makes it a lot easier to tackle. I’ve listened to a few over the years!!! It can be tricky as you get older!!! Confidence is key and being yourself.
    Well done thank you 😊💐⭐️🍒

    I sew, and love the feel of good fabric. I had a friend come up to me and run her hand down my arm. When I looked at her with a question, she said “Oh sorry, you’re clothes always feel so good, I just had to check it out.”

    #Lovethis Thanks Emily! I want to jump up & go through my closet, but I keep finding another of your videos...I digress!
    Sharing here: About being practical...I had been gifted a lovely cashmere sweater that had a few holes (nothing too horrible) that I used for housework. It gave the piece another life, was lux, practical and I didn't have to worry about it.
    About 'spilling stuff on yourself'. I have 2 x linen napkins that I carry in my lunch box. I eat in my car (for peace & quiet), putting one napkin on my lap, and the other I hang from a dental bib clip thingy (Amazon). Protecting my clothes during lunch has saved me from laundry/replacing clothing quicker than necessary. If I am traveling, I'll keep a cloth napkin in my purse too. Changing from my work clothes when I come home & use aprons when cooking has also kept from ruining many shirts. #loungewear

    Hi Emily..I used to be the worst for shopping all the time and just buying on sale items. This video is sooo good , especially for people who were like me…just buying to be buying. It is still a good reminder to me to not buy anything unless I really love it. I also will not wear something that is not comfortable. I realized my style has changed. I wore black when I did hair full time. But then I would buy loud color trendy pieces that got worn maybe once . You would make a great stylist. I know you said you would not be for everyone, but I think there are a lot of Emily Wheatley people out there…maybe one day when your boys are older. ❤❤❤❤

    This the most complete video I have seen on this subject! Good job! For me, anchor pieces are always the bottoms: they are the most difficult to find (to purchase) the most difficult to fit my shape and usually the most expensive items in my wardrobe! Agree with white items: cannot afford to wash them each time I wear them!

    • @EmilyWheatley

    Hey Emily, this video is phenomenal. The way you break down each step, give specific examples and share the thinking process behind it makes extremely easy to understand. Each question really makes you think about why and how to choose a piece that you absolutely love and we all want to love everything we own. These questions are also important to consider before each purchase. This is a video is one i can see myself re-watching over and over, each time I want to create a capsule wardrobe - i will save this to me playlist for sure. Thank you as always and love love love your channel - you are amazing! xx

    I have an anchor piece that I love so much. I have a pair of pull on twill pants that are satin lined and fit me beautifully. I usually struggle with finding the perfect pants. So my question: Is it okay to but 5 pairs of these pants? I do wear them every day. They are so versatile but does that limit me? Thanks again for another great video!

    You make it seem so easy - I overthink things - I totally understand protecting *me* from *me* and “Is it functional”, no matter how much I like it or like the *idea* of it - I literally have so many things I’ve bought but never worn, everything from a leather jacket, trench coat, white jeans, black stiletto booties, black Harley Davidson booties (the edgy part I like), white button downs (because the white seems too overwhelming), on and on….I bet someone would have a field day putting together outfits for me. I don’t get rid of these basics because I think maybe I just haven’t figured out how to style them that’s comfortable to for me - sounds lame I’m sure - who can’t style a white button down or leather jacket? So basic, yet I haven’t done it. I used to buy things that were a good deal (brand) without thinking about fabric, color, or structure, like I do now - I can’t stand tight synthetic fabrics, even in a tank top. I also don’t like flowy, loose things either - I need some kind of “structure”, like a stiffer cotton and more fitted around the waist - my comfort zone for work and in general is jeans (or fitted pants, not too tight or too loose), a button down shirt, and loafers, flats. Converse shoes, or a bootie (in the winter). I also like cardigans- they’re dressy and casual at the same time. I don’t wear much jewelry, except studded earrings and a necklace with a pendant or something basic. I’m very drawn to stripes, navy blue, black, white, and bright pink - I look terribly washed out in beige, cream, dusty pink, etc. BUT those are the classic, timeless colors I wish I could wear - how can someone incorporate those colors if they really aren’t flattering right up to the face, besides a scarf around the neck? It’s funny because I started shopping for shirts by looking through the rack backwards, to check for a collar first - then I make sure it’s a good color and fabric - if it has ruffles it’s a dealbreaker. My husband can even rule things out when we’re at a thrift store!! I’m THAT predictable 😆

    • @EmilyWheatley
      @EmilyWheatley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I'm washed out in a certain color and plan to wear it. I change my makeup to add more coloring so I don't get washed out. If you don't wear make up you can used layering pieces with colors that do work for you to balance it out. Hope that helps a bit. Thanks for your comment!

    I always had to keep the best and most pretty clothes for special occasians and photoshoots - well.. that's what my parents wanted... I ended up not being able to wear some of the clothes wich i absolutely loved. 7 months ago i got diagnosed with cancer. I would have only a few weeks to live so bad the situation was. I have some great willpower , positivity and i think a few very sweet angels, because i am clean. The medics call me a walking mirracle... :P Having cancer learned me a lot of things. One of the things is wear what you want to wear, do what you always wanted to do. Don't wait with clothes or making memories, because you might end up never getting the chance to do it.... What do you have if you never get to wear those perfect clothes or only thinking about that grat holliday or go skydiving if you never ever will do it? It is just like you said: those clothes are to wear not only to look nice in your closeth :) Thanks for your great video's. I really enjoy watching them 🙏🏻💜

      @@EmilyWheatley Thank you for your kind reply Emily :) It is a long and hard road.. But where there is a will there is a way. All the beautifull things i've learned, the way i look at things, all the wonderful people i have met. All those things ( how painfull and terrible cancer and the treatments can be) make me happy. Getting cancer in my life also brought me so much good things that i feel like this was just what i needed to find myself. Ps. My hair is starting to grow back again and i almost can't wait to get a simular haircut like yours :D

    I do wonder how many hours other women spend shopping. It can take me 3 hours in the mall to find something i love - and then the chances of it also fitting me perfectly and being in a quality fabric is about the same as me winning the lottery. If i applied all those rules i'd be walking around naked most of the time, or be shopping for my wardrobe as a full time job. Do other people routinely find things that just fit them perfectly?!

    • @punk7066
      @punk7066 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amen. I don’t have an easy body to fit-big shoulders, no hips, and I’m glad to find something that fits at all, plus I’m 73 years old. Wish I could find pieces that I love, make statements, etc. Great video though. Wish I had a personal shopper or were 50 years younger!
