I have a good perception of No Man's Sky because they just went back and fixed their fuck-up without any further argument. It just like ordering food at a restaurant and it came out looking like ass, you tell the waiter, and they took it back and make you a fresh one. Done.
If it was Blizzard or Bethesda for example, they would posture for awhile and then took your food and put it back into the microwave.

I drank unpasteurized milk in a milk shake while I was in Ecuador as a teenager. Got sick for 2 days. Fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea. It sucked. It was the 1st and only time I'd ever drank it. I'd take all 256,511,999 guns I own and fire one bullet into every container of unpasteurized milk I find to express my distain for the sub quality product.

I have probably more than 500 hours into No Man's Sky and have been playing since Day 1. I was one of the people who had played and loved the game even at launch, so seeing how HelloGames has evolved and changed the game with every new patch and update... it has been astonishing. I mainly play on my Nintendo Switch now, but I own it for the PS4 (original copy) and PC. I've played handheld (on Switch) and with VR (PSVR). I am still playing it today, especially with the Echoes Update.
EDIT: After looking at my hours obtained on PC... I might think I have maybe 5000 hours altogether between systems... omg... lmfao
To me the best isn't that they improved it and delivered in the end but that all those DLCs and updates didn't had me selling my kidneys 😀

Iv heard doing it on low heat for a long time is best for preserving the Flavor of the milk. Pasteurization is just a matter of Time vs how much Heat you apply to the milk.

Got No Man's Sky on launch. Can confirm, it's a ton better right now. I just played the Adrift expedition yesterday (it's a good challenge) yesterday and indeed they've made all these updates that improved the game without any paid DLC.
As for bases, you have have a ton of bases - you're not limited to one. I have 30+ bases across the galaxy and the game provides you a way to easily traverse between them all.
I don't think game studios often create new engines from scratch, they usually iterate on what they already have, or sometimes do a big overhaul on it, as someone said the Creation Engine is derived from Gamebryo, but has had a lot changed and updated since then, the concern though is that there may be limitations present due to the fact that the foundation of the engine is so old.
If I remember correctly there was an issue at least a recent as Oblivion, maybe as recent as Skyrim, where they could only transform terrain vertically, meaning instead of just modelling them as part of the terrain, any caves or outcroppings had to be prebuilt and stitched into a hole in the map.
Starfield is stated to be developed on Creation Engine 2, the hope is that it was a massive overhaul and iteration that had significant upgrades and completely removed issues rather than sweeping them under the rug, but there is no way of knowing, maybe it was a legit upgrade and they are just using the same naming convention as Unreal Engine, or it could have just been a rendering update and they slapped a 2 on there to shut people up.
Difficult to say really, only the engine devs know for sure, and they are probably chained up in the boiler room.
the engine for skyrim was just a modified version of the ones they used since morrowind... so acutally is WAY older than 10... i think it came out in 2003...
the creation engine is a modding power house. that's why they don't wanna do away with it. since the lifespan of their games is primarily influenced by the modding community...

6 months later and yeah, Starfield has now 7k players according to SteamCharts and NMS has 14k as of the last 24hrs. Tbh 7k is a lot still to how bad this game was at launch. Idk if there was any updates.

Ships clipping into the planets is one bug that makes zero sense to me because the ships are solid for you and so are the planets. You’d expect the NPC ships to also have collision but they’re just like, “We do what we want!” [digs straight to Hell]

Apparently, they also used AI to generate the NPCs and animate their faces in Starfield so that text-to-speech slip-up in this heavily outsourced game is not really that surprising.

it should be remembered that graphics engines have evolved, but the core gaming engines still have so many unused features. This is what people hate about Starfield v. No Man's Sky. The engines are still more capable than the artists or game developers have touched on yet. And this is why Starfield is so revolting to people. Bethesda did not risk anything that was potentially unpopular with any gaming segment, and everyone hates it now, but cannot explain why. No Man's Sky had the exact same problem 7 years ago, and only a small nugget of users stayed. Hello Games kept working for the love of gaming, and the gamers kept giving feedback. This has created a game with so much gamer-related content, and now we get No Man's Sky, 12 years in the making. It's crazy, but No Man's Sky is still able to operate comfortably from new game sales only.

Tbh. This video reeeaaalllyy didn't do NMS justice. Getting annoyed about a very fast and simple tutorial or having to build a base on a planet that he doesn't want to be on, while at the same time not telling the viewer that you can build as many bases as you want is just a small example 😅(Multi not working which is rare and makes it look bad, the glitches that for hundreds of hours you see almost none, making the ship quest sound very complicated like you have to google sht up to solve it, when all you needed to do is to go and press "give" and it's done + the whole quest is about 10 min ... and much more).
Even though it looks "fine / ok" for someone who haven't played it yet, people with like 500h are prob. like "Bro, what are you doing? Wait, it's not like that. C'mon, this happens like once every 100h". At least he said he saw like 2%, but this is what people watching will judge it for 😅

Professional reviewers are well payed to give high review scores: they get to keep existing! If they gave a AAA game a poor score, they'd quickly get ostracized by most of the big game developers. They wouldn't get special invites to game events, or wouldn't get special previews. Which means the other reviewers would have an unfair advantage. It's a good way to end up bankrupt if all you do is write reviews for a living. Basically, they can't afford to not like big game developers.

gamebryo is over 20 yo, oblivion was made with it with atleast 3 years pre production, oblivion was 2006 release that means at the VERY VERY least 2003, so yeah starfield is over 20 years old, at release. Hell they don't even bother to change the adress of stuff, player.additem 0000000f is still add currency, player.additem 0000000a is still the tool to open stuf, lockpick, digipick, gold, caps, credits, it's all the same.
NMS is an fantastic SP but MP is totally unplayable because everything is desync and glitchy and they dont fix it the last 7 years.........
I am having fun with Starfield, never got into No Man's Sky (might change if buddies want to play it too). But omg Starfield is a mess at times, there are good points, and the potential it has when modders get their hands on the tools is gonna be amazing, but performance wise especially it is a travesty, the fact that brightness/gamma/FOV slider/DLSS was not an option (and still isn't at time of writing) and is a big "First big patch" thing is baffling to me tbh.
There are just so much that screams "This was pushed out a year before it should have been out". Dunno why they needed to rush it out this year tbh.
Starfield didn't even last a month on Twitch and all the major creators are back at Skyrim and Fallout.
If Beth releases proper tools it'll get a resurgence and die again, as it should, it's completely soulless.

I am not sure on the tools part, I see your point, and part of me agrees with it. But I have seen what amazing things modders can create. And with things like AI voice, people can potentially expand on what already are there.

@@TheMetalfreak360 Twitch is one metric, Steam players is another. The game was lively for 2 weeks then everyone realised it's boring. Conveniently that's how long it took for the overly positive reviews to be phased out by neutral-to-negative ones. 2 weeks is the space a new game gets to make a splash generally.
You can make mods for games on the "Creation" engine without tools but sooner or later you'll need to go beyond changing or replacing files, right now most mods are visual. For big changes is where you need a script extender, Creation Kit(eugh), etc. Mods are severely limited at the moment because of this.
The plot is never going to be overhauled or replaced, mods will only make it easier to ignore like in Fallout 4. Or remove it entirely, also in Fallout 4. There's a mod that makes the whole map and DLC exploration sandboxes without quests.
Ready to learn all those dumbass languages so you can interact with npcs so fun tutorial still exists in 2016 have fun trying to get past it it would be fine if the tutorial planet had normalized resources but it doesn’t so i spent 3 hours walking around trying to find plants that i could use for oxygen and repair the hyperdrive
that, or you can play on custom difficulty so you can just vibe without having to worry about life support
Honestly starsector is a way better space game than starfield. And it will run on a potato as a bonus.
No man's sky is a better Starfield
I too experienced No Man's Sky from release and it definitely went from an F- to an A+ over the years. I still say that it's kind of overrated, though. It's an excellent game that is well worth the asking price, don't get me wrong. But, the writing is awful and, outside of a forced tutorial, there's very little guidance. Also, it's a game released in 2016 and it still turns my PC from 2020 into a very expensive space heater. LoL :P
As far as starfield goes, i mean it runs like ass on my pc but im willing to say it runs better than any Bethesda game on launch aside new vegas. And on the whole, mechanics wise its more sound than most.
They even woke up their good writers for the storyline and npcs, which counts.
However. Its not innovative, the sole element of innovation in the game is that the planets have accurate orbits and rotations. Which would be really cool if you didnt have to use the map and loading screens to take off and land, or could free fly between planets. Which no mans sky does offe
Is it a contender for Bethesdas best game. Id say yes, if you isolate only the games only Bethesda did, new vegas was obsidian, after all. However. At the end of the day, its just a Bethesda game. They dont innovate. Bethesda hasn't done anything Innovative since morrowind.
And its worth noting that the elder scrolls took three games to find its identity, and fallout wasnt even Bethesdas creation, they just made it third person. So the design aesthetic and identity there is also, lifted from original artists work.
By no means am i saying starfield is a great game. Im just saying anyone who expected it to revolutionize gaming for the year like baldurs gate 3 did? You forgot what studio this is.
starfield is the first bathesda games since daggerfall that i acutally like to play... fallout 3-4 are janky and boring... skyrim is REALLY borking, oblivion is fun for like 10 hours, morrowind is i dunno kinda boring as well... also i just didng care about anyone or anything in those games. i find the setting of starfield intresting and the dialogue isnt nearly as boring than the older games...

Starfield is not even mid, because mid considering its even playable, and it has the worse of bugs, and the worse optimization, to the extreme point where even a new generation consule can bearly run it at 30 fps, also the game looks graphically weird especially of lightning, it's just what the heck, i compare it to a game like, kingdom come graphics, and its just a 4-5 for graphics.
but honestly playing starfield is less entertaining than playing wizard 101, and dont get me started about visual glitches, flashing ship interioir, and literal complete save game perma damage infinite crash bug and lag due to id.
it's not even a seamless world, and even a random game from a single developer would do seamless transaction planet to space.

and your perk, are literally perk walls, I mean honestly all you need is more damage for the bullet sponges and nothing else, literally anything else that's not damage is pointless.
all the combat and space fighting, is pull the cross-hair press fire, and pray that your ship last more than the enemy and you didn't forget to buy spare part,
Ground Comba latterly just straight up click on the enemy no more, even old school rpg had more combat dynamic than starfield, and guess what hit chances are back, now you can shoot an a enemy literally 5 times in a row and you still miss them with 75% accuracy, and also randomly the bullets completely ignore enemies' legs and arms, they're not even a cripple system or vats like literally every fallout.
as in combat is literally just sit clock the button and pray your bullets don't miss, while having hundreds of different ammo types in your inventory and 12 guns because ammo is a pain in this game and unratable, wow a game with guns and with crafting mechanics where you literally can't craft ammo, that is literally a first every single game basically you can craft ammo if it has any long range weapon and a crafting system.
Final review is 2-3/10 for literally able to even be played at all.

ships handle weird, there are some annoying bugs related to multiplayer, and the combat is still just drawn out and annoying most of the time. Those are the only real complaints I have about it in 2023
