@SmugAlana - Just to clarify the weapon stuff. Only Online play has level limits. You're free to use whatever in Offline. Also, while the weapon drops per level range are limited to difficulty, you pretty much get all the possible weapon types--just at the level appropriate for the difficulty you have. For example Assault Rifles. You get a basic auto, a semi, a machine gun, an exploding round one, and a laser. These have different models per difficulty level, but they're generally all functionally the same just with better stats for higher level ranges and individual quirks for uniqueness. With regards to the plot it's actually quite simple. You're doing a cat and mouse chase with the alien invaders. Every time you're about to reach them and win, they jump back in time to get a head start away from you in the next loop/lap. Obviously, by the final lap you catch up to them and reach the finish line first.
The only EDF I played was 2025, I'd main the fencer class and pretty much swept the missions in every difficult but I got stuck on the final mission since it lasts hours, is very difficult and the final mission is perma death with no checkpoints.
I got EDF6 myself not long after watching that video since it finally went on sale, though just for 20%. 25 missions in on hard and I still don't have my spine driver, can confirm drop tables are a nightmare. I'll probably just go to online mode get carried for drops.
@@TheDrunkenCelt I mean, if I have to buy a pack to solve the problem, it isn't really solving the problem is it. And if I have to grind, I can grind anytime with other missions. I have flashing, I have jackhammer, but neither have the range, responsiveness, nor reliability of the spine driver. I'm playing the highest possible difficulty on my first run so it can't be a difficulty problem and I'm specifically getting every item drop I see without having to actually farm a mission to grind. 30 missions of diligent collecting should be getting me a basic weapon like the spine driver, which is why I'm calling it a nightmare of a drop table.
Most of the time loot issues like that tend to be solved by going back to the hardest mission you can easily complete and farming it for a while. A series favorite is any mission that solely throws red ants at you.
