I love how people see the internal lace loops and think it’s new. It shows how long it has been since proper tech has been incorporated into skate shoes. I like the slim down new shoes, but they just gave up on that stuff for so long for no reason

I think just the trend in aesthetics over the years.Less techy looking and minimalist.

@@kbcastro I get the aesthetics thing, where some people don’t like the look, but why not have them on and people can just choose to still lace through the outside if they want to deal with the laces?
Is like the toe box as well, you can hide all the plastics and rubbers under a covering of suede and make them last , but I guess then you sell less shoes……….😓

@@scottphilips8514 the only constant is change. One day the trends may return to the minimalistic age.But with dunk hype at an all time high.Techy shoes may be here to stay for a little bit.Not to say that companies still aren’t running minimalistic Vulc shoes still.Think about the big boy pants phase over the last few years, that shit will die once it becomes too trendy.

Yeah I definitely agree. I can't really justify spending $100 or more, _unless_ it is truly double or triple the durability. I've only encountered like two or three other shoes that were durable enough to be worth >$100. eS Accel OG, eS Evant and Etnies Joslin 1 (haven't tried the Joslin 2s yet, but I hear they are similar if not even better, so seems worth it too). There are some other shoes that are pretty tough. I was actually pleasantly surprised about the Nike SB Adversary skate shoes. But it did help I got them fairly cheap. For me the Nike SB Nyjah Free 2s were kind of average in terms of durability. Not terrible, but probably not durable enough for full price. I'm guessing the Nike SB Ishod is similar.

Nike sb needs to reissue the zoom tre that shoe was bulletproof. It has a cevlar upper and laces. I would sole swap them off with the nyjah since the zoom tre would crumble if used being so old. But that would be the most epic shoe ever. I dig the evants I just don’t get why they are so bulky. I can’t skate bulky shoes. I feel like I’m disconnected with my board

Since i've been back to skating over the last 2 years, i've had nothing but bad luck with shoes. I haven't had a pair last me longer than roughly 40 hours of skating. Nike and Adidas for the price tag i've found absolutely inferior to even the old crappy Accells and old Emerica Reynolds. The Buscenitz are terrific for about a weeks worth of skating, but lose their shape quickly leading to rolled ankle city. I don't want to admit it, but so far the best shoes i've had are these Cariumas durability wise. They took about 3 sessions to really break in, and i typically prefer skating off of suade vs rubber.. but i got used to it. Don't really care for their logo though and while their insoles are great for the first week, had to toss the expensive FP insoles in there that aren't really all that great either.

Love the design. But these are oddly NARROW. I even tried on larger than normal sizes and my foot was still wider than the outsole even when lengthwise I had a full inch of extra space. The comments about them hugging your feet and fitting even with loose laces would seem to corroborate. So sad. I have what I’d call and average male width. But these shoes are expecting something else entirely. Bummer.

11:58 Bad idea. The stock insole of any shoe always packs out and loses its qualities extremely fast. Just get some aftermarket ones like FP or eS STI. The eS STI is actually quite bad in terms of longevity but protects your foot really well and is amazing to skate. They usually pack out in 3 months of skating. The FP can last up to a year, but at the end of that year it'll get really hard and lose its protection. My suggestion is 3 months for the STI insole and 6-9 months for the FP. I've had many pairs of each one.
