Production note: the "Marc" that Steven hugged is actually Oscar Isaac's brother, who was hired as a stand-in for this episode. Also, the mental ward Layla had a piece of tape with a drawing of a red scarab on one of her fingers. New Rockstars also noticed this. Along with the name of her father, this could be an indication of her fate that might have nothing to do with Konshu. Our it could all be a big easter egg for comic readers.
It isn't Hathor since she is always depicted as a fair woman this is Taweret the goddess of childbirth and fertility. She takes care of ppl in the afterlife
To be more specific, I think she *cleans* people before their journeys through the Duat, aka the realm of the dead. In trailers we’ve seen a large boat crossing a mystical looking river, and since the inside of the hospital swayed back and forth like a boat when Mark was running away, im assuming that’s where he is and Taweret is there to cleanse him/his soul before he can continue either forward or back to the realm of the living.
23:12 Bit of Egyptian mythology trivia: That is Tawaret, another Egyptian fertility goddess. She's also goddess of childbirth, protector of households, and is said to be goddess of rebirth and rejuvenation. In othe words, she's most likely a good guy.
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DOING THE LEMIRE ALLUSION. Probably one of the biggest risks the MCU has ever taken and I greatly applaud them for it. I’ve been absolutely loving this series so far, I really hope these last two episodes hit the landing
To add on to the others comments about Taweret, I’m pretty sure she *cleans* people before their journeys through the Duat, aka the realm of the dead. In trailers we’ve seen a large boat crossing a mystical looking river (the ferry that crosses the river of Styx) and since the inside of the hospital swayed back and forth like a boat when Mark was running away, im assuming that’s where he is and Taweret is there to cleanse him/his soul before he can continue either forward or back to the realm of the living.
Hey, it's Klik-Klak from Rebels, LOL! That was not Jake in that sarcophagus, it is Apocalypse, LOL! I did not think of that Community episode, I thought of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode where she thought her slaying was all imagined in her head.
@MAC React, This episode was wild, but sooooooooooooooooo much fun! 22:21 I interpreted this scene as Marc going through the throes of death; the man's mind is falling apart and his life is flashing before his eyes. "I can't tell the difference between my waking life and my dreams." --Steven Grant This is one of the first lines we heard months ago in the teaser to the series, and this is Marc's mind now as he's dying. Again. This happened once before off camera, and I suspect that the first time this happened, Steven resurfaced. He told Layla that he had his situation under control until recently, I'm guess it was right around Layla's father died and he got shot. When he went through the throes of death the first time, the mental barriers he had in place to keep in in charge of his personas faded away and his union with Khonshu super changed them all, making it hard for Marc to stay in control. Khonshu saved Marc from death, but his mind was still broken, and this scene is highlighting that, well, the whole series really. Prior to Marc's partner turning on him, Marc had a life in which he was in control. He had a job, a wife and a life. He was happy or at least happier. But since the night his partner got greedy, shot everyone and tried to kill Marc, his life has been in shambles. He's been trying to pick up the the pieces to no avail. Too many forces have been pulling at him from all sorts of directions, Steven, Jake, Khonshu, Layla, his mission etc. He hasn't had a moment to get his self in order--this goes to what Harrow told, Layla that Marc's in agony, I think. Harrow's an ass, like Khonshu, but the man uses brutal honest to his benefit. Khonshu will do whatever is necessary to do what needs to be done to save the good of all. Marc will do whatever it takes to stay alive and to save his wife. Steven will do whatever it takes to stay with the only woman who's talked to him at length, lol. Jake will do whatever it takes to save Steven--we all thought it was Marc that saved Steven in the Alps, but that was more likely Jake, after seeing what happened to those three he was pursuing in Cairo. Steven got into trouble and Jake took care of them, just like he did those people trying to take the scarab from Steven. Jake seems like a protective brother looking out for Steven--he set up a date for him, and keeps him out of danger. He's very likely in the sarcophagus that wasn't opened in the end--Steven and Marc are in trouble, and he was banging, not screaming, trying to get out to save his brothers from looming danger or so it seems. Taweret likely made the entire Internet laugh with her soft spoken, "hi!" "And did it suck for you? Getting rejected in the Field of Reeds?" --Young girl at the museum to Steven Taweret is likely going to step in to save Marc and probably make him whole. She's the goddess of birth, fertility and I do believe that Marc is going to emerge reborn--we're in episode 4 after all. Anyway, fun and trippy show. Cannot wait to see where this is headed. How crazy is Multiverse of Madness going to get? This episode turned on a dime in an instant!
Someday I'll have the first comment!!!! I met them with the video of the reaction of the sixth chapter of the squid game and since then I've not stopped seeing their reactions. Thank you for brightening my day, greetings from Peru. Espero haber traducido bien mi texto P.S. The chapter was very good.
the goddess of musics name is Hathor, she is not the hippo at the end, the hippo is Teweret goddess of rebirth among other things.I love how accurate the "gods" seem to be (atleast seemingly). teweret (the hippo goddess of peace, rebirth and fertility. she is described as a mediator, peace keeper, she has a say I'n what happens to someone in the afterlife. she's most importantly usually described as a softer and more of a Kinder "god". by her teeny tiny sweet high pitched voice at the end of the ep, I think she will play a role in helping marc and Steven (and perhaps Jake as well) figure their "shit" out while in their "mindspace" which is what i think the "hospital" is. the madness and helplessness he feels is most likely manifesting in his mind as "prisoner in a mad place" and since it's in his mind, Teweret (hippo goddess) can appear as her actual appearance (humanoid hippo) rather than thru a avatar. I think she will mediate a real truce and working relationship between Marc, Steven and whomever else. she is often known as mediater and peacekeeper, so after helping Steven get "his house" in order, she will most likely reveal the marc STILL can access khonshus power (somehow) and will point to Harrow being able to use ammits powers while she is "trapped" thr same way khonshu is "trapped" . whatever the case may be, there's a reason they casted a high pitched super soft kinda voice actress for teweret, I think it's done on purpose so the audience knows that she can be trusted (since all the gods we've seen thus far are hella sketchy at worst and very suspect at best) and since she is known as being a nicer goddess with a softer touch so to speak. I mean juxtaposed to her appearance, she may look scary however once she says "hi" in her happy to be there sort of tone, it almost automatically drops your defenses (somewhat) which is what I think will happen after marc and Steven are done freaking out lol.
Marc is dead & his soul is entering the afterlife like if you die then you go to heaven or hell so Marc soul is already judge by Anubis and is being cleanse also taken care of by Taweret acting like a mom taking care of her kids before she helps him enter the Duat
In Egyptian mythology sekhmet was ras general and the Dora in black panther wear her colors The story of Sekhmet, the Egyptian feline warrior goddess associated with both plague and healing, is considered by some to be one of the oldest vampire tales. Legend holds that the sun god, Ra, sent his daughter Sekhmet down to punish humankind for their disobedience. But after Sekhmet couldn't stop drinking blood amid her slaughter, Ra quelled her planet-draining thirst by dyeing a bunch of beer red (basically, she guzzled it all and slept for three days). Sekhmet and bast share the same soul the tribes of wakanda pray to bast.
Going by what happened in "The Mummy (1999)," Mummies and/or Egyptian Supernatural beings need fresh organs and fluids from the living to come back. I think Marc is in some kind of Egyptian afterlife dimension and Taweret, the hippo lady, is going to get him out. Also I think Taweret does resurrections.
I gotta say, im really looking forward to when they show us all those times when Marc and Steven blacked out and lost control of the body. Maybe those points can better explain what's going on 😁🤔
Maybe the gods was divided also, like in eternals, remember khonshu doesn't agree with the council gods about not meddling with human affairs.. Maybe those imprisoned ones are also rogue god like khonshu and there are others that went rogue but not imprisoned like taweret who share the same views as khonshu.. Hator is kinda allied with khonshu even hinting some love interest.. Maybe taweret is one of khoshu s allies too.. This is a stretch but layla fouly in this show is copied from layla miller in the comics, layla miller became the butterfly if I remembered it correctly which has the power of resurrection, healing and immunity to psychic attacks.. Is it possible for taweret to pick layla as her avatar and layla get her powers? That's my theory
I think that in the end part, everybody except for Marc and Steven is unreal, from his/their mind or in some sort of semi-afterlife. As you pointed out, the bearded guy is dead in the real world but appears alive here (wherever "here" is). And I think we'll find out that hippo-lady is real, another of the gods, maybe stepping in to pull Marc/Steven out. After all, Khonshu saved him from death once, another god could do the same. Also, Marc needs to chill about who Layla decides to kiss. He withheld information about her father's death from her, he sent her divorce papers, and then he ghosted her. (And that's only the things that we know he did -- the ultimate story about her father's death may still be coming later.) You lost all your Layla privileges.
In Egyptian mythology, the hippo lady cleanses people before they journey through the afterlife or get on the ferry that takes them through the afterlife. I’m assuming that’s what is going on
You guys should react to Legion, it's technically a marvel show, but it's not in the MCU, and it is way more confusing and fucked up than this episode (which I loved) was.
Honestly, this is just my 3 cents, but i think that Steven and Layla are a better match lol Geez the suspense and horror in this was REAL... oh I get it they pulled a Last Knight on Earth on Marc trying to make him think it was all a delusion That relieved hug with Steven and Marc was so wholesome honestly Oh wait is that sarcophagus the 3rd personality? What is that hippo lmao
I think Steven is a better match because that personality was created in her image. The Egypt knowledge, the French poetry, all of it was based on her.
Wow Steven falling for Layla knew that was gonna happen. He hit him with fight club punch lol Lol can’t just be running and rolling around in the sand everywhere might fall into the sarlacc pit man. What was that Dora the explorer Indiana jones shit on the tv. Jake probably asked the girl Dillion out because Marc is is focused on the job and getting the scarrab and Steven knew nothing about the joke
I agree, Christian! I would like to see these interactions with the gods and eternals and all that. After eternals and now moon knight I'm really interested how all these godly entities fit together. Were all these gods aware the earth was going to be destroyed by the celestial? Did they care? Leaves a lot of questions for me.
In comic book “lore”, the celestials are a step above marvel gods in terms of power, since they exist fully in this realm/dimension. The gods all exist in another one, hence why they need avatars to funnel their power through or they can usually just exist temporarily and at a fraction of their power in our world. So even if they knew, there’s really nothing they could about the Celestials
Crazy theory… that part in the trailer when we see Mark/Steven in the mental hospital going crazy hitting his head… what if that is actually Jake after coming out of the sarcophagus!!!!! Ayyy! Great reaction thank you! 🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏🌙🌙🌙🖤🖤🖤🌙🌙🌙🖤🖤🖤🌙🌙🌙🌙🖤🖤🖤
I low key didn't care for this episode much. There was a lot of wasted time imo. And I didn't care for the fever dream ending that we have to wait a week for now to understand. Annoyed, lol.

Not like I could do any better so despite any flaws I'm loving it. I love the MCU, but it's definitely a turn your brain off and enjoy the ride kind of franchise. So I rarely give a shit about the flaws. It's just super hero shenanigans....nothing to take too seriously.

The hippo was the goddess Taweret. Protection and healing goddess. I think mainly of the middle kingdom. She will help Marc heal his broken spirit

Confused, terrified, fascinated, thrilled, unsure what is real or not?... welcome to a pretty classic Moon Knight story , lol.
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DOING THE LEMIRE ALLUSION. Probably one of the biggest risks the MCU has ever taken and I greatly applaud them for it. I’ve been absolutely loving this series so far, I really hope these last two episodes hit the landing
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of Black Phillip when that goat appeared in the desert. lol

I have no idea what is going on, but I am ready for next episode lol
Hi again guys! This is my favorite episode.
“Would you like to live deliciously..?”
🐐

This episode is reminiscent of the Legion (X-Men) episodes.

Its not an illusion its more like purgatory.
"Black Phillip?" I said the same thing 😂
my favorite episode ending so far, excited to see how you guys liked this episode! hope all is well
ps Hi Early Mac Squad person
Yes this one was crazy! We woke up early this morning to watch and it was totally worth it!
the terror and horror aspect here in this episode, is to probably prepare everyone for zombie stephen strange and wanda, in multiverse of madness.
This episode reminded me so much of Legion.

Well we still have to watch episode 12 later tonight, so the video will probably post Friday or Saturday at the latest.
