I think in the comics Moon Knight is a part of the Midnight Suns, a group that deals with the supernatural along with Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, Blade, Werewolf by Night, Black Knight and Morbius.
fun fact, the midnight sons series with the doc strange, blade, moon knight, etc lineup isn't an actual thing in the comics. it was only a rejected premise submitted by artist greg smallwood, which he then posted the character design and scrapped cover on his twitter, and it sort of became a memefied phenomenon where non comic fans reposted the art as if it was an actual cover to a comic series. probably because the greg smallwood's art was so good for a concept cover that people assumed it was real... and now that memetic effect seems to influnce even mcu's future planning with the black knight/blade and there's even a video game about to be released based the midnight sons. its just funny, because even to this day, that midnight sons comic doesn't exist because marvel comics (I don't mean the mcu) is so disconnected from its audience...
Steven, or rather ‘Marc’ suffers from Disassociation Identity Disorder, or DID. They did a good job of portraying it so far, as it’s not unusual for the multiple personalities, or “Alters” to not remember what the others did, as memories do not transfer between personalities. That’s why some people with DID are misdiagnosed as sleep walkers or schizophrenics. People can have anywhere from 2 to dozens of personalities per person. The personalities are each born from traumatic circumstances, as a way to cope with the situation they find themselves in. Some can have alters that are childlike, formed when they were children and frozen in terms of mental age. Some people have older alters, fantasy alters (ghosts from attempted suicide, animal personalities from pretending to be animals to cope from trauma, etc) some people even have fictional characters as alters! The brain is incredible in the ways it will adapt and reshape itself to maintain its own sanity and protect you!
I honestly think Marc is a good guy. Mostly its cause I assume for months he's been trying to keep Steven in this little safe bubble for whatever reason and only now Steven woke up when he shouldn't have.
Which kind of tracks based on the many missed calls, but doesn’t go into why they were never called back until Steven figured out something was off, recently, when apparently Marc comes and goes for plenty of time that Steven misses.
Props to you guys for being the few to realise that Steven wasn't dreaming and that his multiple personalities were putting things back in place to pretend he was asleep.

24:47 “it’s time to start praying, get on your knees… you need help!” 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Omg y’all are killing me, love it so much! 😅 This is definitely the best Marvel series start so far.
Donna is incompetent. She has to put up with him because she's no good at this job. She's running the museum without really understanding it. She's a pencil pusher , a mean bureaucrat who couldn't care less what the exhibits are about. A good administrator would care, and make sure the advertisements were accurate and proper, since many of the museum visitors would have the knowledge to see the errors. She's pissed at Steven because he reminds her she doesn't know much and that affects her air of superiority. She wouldn't have to "put up" with him if she cared about the museum. She'd view him as help and a resource. So screw Donna , she gets no points for "putting up" with him.
But I like how the show isn’t trying to force you to find the primary of the body. The directors did such a good gob at making each character in Marc/Steven body feel like they own separate people. As seen by episode two Marc anger issues compared to Steven. It’s really cool and the show makes me not care who is the original.
Since it was brought up, I feel like I should clarify: Moon Knight suffers from a real-life mental condition called Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly incorrectly known as Multiple Personality Disorder or Split Personality). It creates alternative identities (called "alters") usually as a response to trauma and abuse during childhood. Basically, the mind is in such pain it needs to create "another person" to handle it. The show presents quite accurately (although a little overblown, since it's a superhero show) how random and involuntary the changes between alters are. Memory problems, anxiety, all that is real. You could sometimes lose days when one identity decides to take over. It's been grossly misrepresented in the media (Jekyll & Hyde, Fight Club, Green Goblin in Sam Raimi), and I don't want to sound like a nitpicking hater but I feel like calling him crazy and insane is a wee bit yikes, especially when consider there are people out there suffering from it.
Yeah but his DID wasn't caused naturally. Growing up he created several types of personalities to handle the trauma he faced but it wasn't actually separate people. They were more like secret identities that he was fully aware of but after he was resurrected by khonshu and given abilities his mind fractured and his secret identities literally became separate individuals living in his head.
@@calebstephan2083 Yes, initially that's how it was shown. They were merely disguises. The 2018 run, however, did a retcon of that to actually give him realistic origin of his DID and make it separate from Khonshu's possession.
Great reaction, guys. Thanks. First, I suppose Marc leaves all of Steven's "nocturnal activity" indication measures like the door seam tape undisturbed by entering and exiting via the window. 2nd, I suppose Marc dealt/deals with human level threats with his accomplished mercenary skills, but in the case of deadly exceptional threats or extraordinary threats such as the hellhound jackal, he transforms into Moon Knight.
Moon Knight has multiple personalities the voice Konchu (Egyptian God) Marc Spector (Badass mercenary/hero) Steven Grant (shop worker) Mr Knight wait & see and there might be another hidden personality
Adorkable is just too adorable, also I watched another TH-cam channel that explained the history of Moon Knight, and oh boy, he's hella complex with Personality Disorder.
One of the theories I agree with is that Marc is not the one who asked the girl on a date. Marc has an American accent. In the comics there is a 3rd personality, Jake Lockley. I think Jake is the one who asked the girl out. I also think that the voice that's yelling at him is that 3rd personality and not the Egyptian deity. When he tells them, "I'll kill you both." I think he means that he'll be the only remaining personality, while Marc and Steven will be no more, if they lose the scarab. We know the MCU uses story lines from the comics, but they also makes many changes to the narrative. So, it's always exciting to see which direction they take each character and the 'universe' as a whole. And reading the comic books doesn't guarantee that you will know what comes next.
you guys are almost right about your theory on the personalities, one big thing is off... I will leave it at that bc finding out in the show will be more fun for you 😉😁
Praying won't help him. He's the property of another God. The end of this is paying tribute to the first Moon Knight appearance in the comics. In that issue, Moon Knight fights a werewolf.
It’s Dissociative Personality Disorder. I might remember wrong, but I remember reading about it that people who have this disorder had experienced some trauma earlier in their lives, so they developed different personalities in order to help deal with their trauma. Edit: I looked it up and it says “Dissociative disorders usually develop as a way to cope with trauma. The disorders most often form in children subjected to long-term physical, sexual or emotional abuse or, less often, a home environment that's frightening or highly unpredictable.”
Introduced werewolf by night moon knight trained as a boxer before he joined the army. Stephen in the comics is a playboy but now he works at a museum.
