I was soo close to going back to BDO while watching this video I kept telling myself wow it looks so fun again. Then it got to the point when he was enhancing and the PTSD kicked in..... thank you Peon you saved me from more mental pain!
@GMan5090 pay to win only affects the highest tier of pvp and bdo has plenty of ways to avoid grinding for nothing. Like the other half of the video that involved lifeskilling?
It’s a hard game to give up on. Had so much more potential. I had to kick it like a drug habit. Just watching this video gives me the itch to play again.
24:55 OMG!! I wasn't expecting that! Thank you for including my Zero to Hero Progression in your video and thank you for another awesome video! Always love the content
This game is like a drug... seriously, that's how most of my friends that play bdo described it to me and thats why they had to quit. I still play here and there but I can't do full time anymore. Massive time eater and lots of desync issues.
I hated it here and I hated it in Guild Wars 2. Literally so much stuff I kinda just threw my hands up like what's the point if I can just use all of this stuff I got to get billions of silver while doing no work? Koreans are obsessed with gift giving i understand that is part of culture, but it's overwhelming.
its like cabal online xD the fuckin upgrade cores and eating away at your money then need to buy safe guard kits or your item can break its like fuck you!! it just aint worth gambling so id rather just grind out or actually just buy the item off another player xD
God dammit man I remember when you used to stream this game years ago with chill music in the background, I would listen to you chatting on and do my highschool work and write down any BDO advice you gave, only to then play the game myself and grind. Good days, hope you are doing well
Ton of respect for the effort/time spend on this video. Enjoyed 40min of quality content, just to know the game is probably not for me. Only one of the best content makers can do that.
He played the game for another 100 hours, at least, despite admitting to an addiction. Why do you think he was sick for two weeks during this montage. 😐
This video is amazing... as someone who just recently got into the game this is so accurate. There's something about the lifeskilling stuff that just makes it a complete blast.
Or your jobs money becomes BDO’s. Yeah either you no life it. Get one shot by everyone for not being a bum, or pay to win or how nerds call it pay to progress.
BDO is the most frustrating mmo ever (mostly because its a gambling simulator). Sure most of the stuff is pay to convenience and you can most certainly not spend any money on this game but the amount of time and effort that you can save by just purchasing the P2W stuff will eventually lead you to spend money on this game. Do not ever touch or come back to this game. This game is addicting as hell and if you lack self control it is really hard to stop. Life has been a lot better for me since I quit BDO.
i agree, i spend over 500 dollars or so over the course of a year or so and it just was a depressing time .. i feel much better now quitting it for good.
@@StarCravingPictures it's really beautiful and has so much stuff to do it's hard to wrap your head around it, i don't think there's a comparable BDO but you will most definitely lose your life to it at some point. The only negative are the cash shop and the shitty rng, but they are really a giant pain in the ass. You can grind every day for months but lose all your efforts in a day...
@@elwoodzmake Yeah, that's why I've already resigned to the fact that I'll never play it. ESO was my first MMO and I really appreciated its lore and questing. I've been scouring the internet for months ever since, hoping to find a rare gem that I can actually play in NA. So far, nothing has emerged. It's just such a shame that none of the alternatives offer BDO's level of graphical fidelity...yet.
this is the video that started it all, i watched this while contemplating to get BDO or not. i ended up getting it last year June or July. and i have now a total of 400+ hours in it. i am proud to say im a BDO addict because the game is everything I wanted in a MMORPG video game. Its just too perfect in my eyes. Sure its a bit of a grind to get what you want or need to be, but playing with friends and fighting world/field bosses can be really fun. im currently on my journey to get Blackstar Gear at least by the end of the year, then soon after Fallen God armour. I just came back to this video to say thank you because you helped me with my decision in getting the best MMORPG game i have ever had (at least in my eyes it is)
@@Jesse__H I did quit, I am not playing any MMORPG's right now. The MMORPG addiction is allot like Heroin, It destroys your free time and you get so invested you lose alot of life. At least playing multiple games you get so many experiences, but playing one game all the time just to keep up the grind is not worth it lol
The people who blow up their gear and "quit" are always the ones who come crawling back. Blowing up your gear just means you have no self-control and will inevitably be back 99% of the time.
Peon: "See every time i come back to BDO there is this voice telling me to shrug off responsibilities and..." Peon: "So at this point in the video guys I became very - 'sick', for ten days"
Progression in BDO is made with lots of painful tears, it makes you feels like you're giving up on yourself when you're trying to quit. I have quit twice from BDO, it was not an easy divorce, yet everytime I saw a BDO video I remember my characters, thousands and thousands screenshots of my adventure, the spreadsheets I made just to calculate my BDO business plan, it has taken so much from you that you'd never felt completely whole.
@@ppsarrakis Is not, al last, you can have real pvp en EvE online, in BDO There is no such thing as PVP, unbalance classes, bugs, desiync, you name it, all the problems that you can imagine for pvp, BDO has it, and instead of fixing it PA just keep getting more and more new classes each one broken and op, until the next class realease, there are already 22 classes. The combat is extreme GEAR dependant, and the craft for gear is RNG insane, a top gear char can oneshot entire partys.
Nobody's gonna give you shit Peon, I am glad you are back and enjoyed the game you loved for so many years. We all know the feeling of doing injustice to a game because of our problems. I am also glad you are feeling much better now, take care of yourself and just play at your leisure ^^ It was a great, in depth video btw, truly enjoyed it to the last second
As a newer player myself, I have to say that I have fallen in love with this game. It is like no other MMO or even game that I have played before. It’s frustratingly amazing. The learning curve is quite large but don’t let that discourage you if you think about giving this game a try. Take the time to learn about stuff, practice your moves and do your research. You will start to learn things fairly quickly.
Love the fact that it's endless things to do and do with effort how ever wish the combat could be a little bit better other then that not much complaints.
Honestly, I've quitted two years ago, after heavy addiction to this game and experiencing burnout syndrome. Being totally honest I'm past that game. Still watched to see what's new from sheer curiosity of what is new in the game.
This video is what sold me on trying out the game for the first time. I knew about BDO for a while, but was always put off by all the negative feedback (especially the cash store/pay-to-win stuff). I gotta say that it's nothing like what I thought, and can easily say that the statement about "living" in the game couldn't be more true. This game gives me a feeling of immersion like no other game really has, and its been less than a week since I started playing. It's really hard to explain how or why it's doing this, and I'm not sure immersion is even the right word, but its a big positive for me. The learning curve is huge, with what feels like a bottomless pit of things to learn about, which is also a huge positive. I like games that have insanely hard-to-get items, or a big learning curve on certain aspects because, like said in this video, it gives you a goal to achieve. "Legendary" items should be just that, very hard, almost unobtainable items that few people will be able to get. I do not intended to spend any money on this game other than the 10.00USD cost of purchase, but so far I haven't even had to think about a cash shop item. I'm sure it will become more apparent as i keep playing, but the amount of fun I'm having now has already made the game worth the $10 .
the game on highend pc graphics looks absolutely stunning. Also the animations just feel right when you are fighting you arent waiting for them its very responsive similar to streetfighter type thing its incredible. im new but love it.
I remember last year around christmas my FFXIV sub ran out and I didn't have enough money to keep sustaining it, so I tried BDO instead as it was on sale for like 5 bucks. The most draining three months of my life were spent playing that godforsaken game. I did have fun sometimes, but it feels like you're climbing an uphill battle with gear progression. I turned to lifeskilling with my Shai instead, but that just lead to me being obsessive about fishing at night and keeping my PC on, setting alarms in the wee hours of the morning to empty my inventory and cast the line again and then falling asleep until the afternoon. By far the most unhealthy I have been mentally. I am just glad I never spent real money on it.
@@PlatinumCyGirl I agree completely. It took me way too long to realize how damaging it was for my physical and mental health! I'm just so glad I'm out of it now. Never going back to this game ever again.
Ty.. I've been on the fence about this game for some time having installed, removef and reinstalled it so many times.. once even after making a character.. ive been a wow, dragon age, witcher, eso fan and gamer and been looking for something fresh and seeing your review has reignited my interest.. all be it mine is on the ps5 not the pc
@@CrowangelGaming well great now I have to try it out... the only thing that concerns me tho is no raids from what I read? And you being a WoW fan how you feel about that
@@chrisg8p you wont miss raiding too much as tons to do.. I will say too bank any freebies they give you as they come in handy at level 56+ you get tons of free rewards for playing as new and returning player as well as the freebies each day ontop of that for time played and progress.. there are world bosses, rifts from 56, field bosses which are less powerful world bosses, summon scrolls for bosses and black spirit quests for same thing meaning group content is always catered too.. or gear up n try them solo.. the choice is yours.. plus newly added adventures log which is bookshelf in menu with extra stuff to do in game for rewards if you get bored... which you wont given the mass to do.. omly nag I had is rendering speed or distance but its minor given the size of game world
Also wen you start try Olvia server 1 or 2 as its boosted xp plus rewards to give you a helpful boost early on.. if you dislike pvp its not forced as id assumed and nearly made me not play as hated pvp.. but at level 57 now.. awakened and on a regular server its awesome
You relased this just at the perfect time. I've been really thinking of going back to this game, but I see that its still not worth it. Thanks for saving me the trouble.
People are really like this .? I truly think some people will never really understand this game . You just watched a 40 min video telling you how it’s a game your not supposed to throw your life away to truly enjoy it . It’s not a western mmo and it seems like people are stuck in that mindset it’s not a neck beard game. I mean what Koreans do you see that are fat and have no life neck beards. Bdo will never change it’s been out years and kept the same pace . It’s not about spending hours in the game to be the best or have the best gear like wow or eso and then when changing everything every couple of months and you going no life again . It’s about taking time when you want to to hop in and play and then signing out and enjoying your life. Coming back will always be the same whether it’s a day or months this game is built honestly to last forever unlike mmos that are dying like eso or wow now a days cause “gamers” aren’t the same anymore . There not fat kids who stay on the computer all day it’s more casual now .
was addicted to this game too. I havent played in a few years but I made it to lvl 62 full tet gear and I did it as a f2p player..... this game was like a 2nd job for me wtf. i dont even know what these season servers are
5 mins in, i already know im gonna have to pay for "convenience" so, it didn't change at all. Best combat I've ever played in an mmo but naaaaah, I've learned my lesson.
@@Haku028 dont you know value packs and pets? After a certain time its frustrating if you dont purshace them. You can ask to any player. Oh and artisans they make your job easier like 4 times.
@@MehmetSarkd values packs are only in NA Servers and there plenty of events that give your free value packs or even buying certain packs will almost definitely give you a 30 day value pack . You can also buy them on the market with silver which is almost always thrown at you for free. There plenty of easy ways to go out and make some. As for pets you get i believe around 4 pets doing the main quest now as well as many events that also give you free pets like the bird with a egg shell on its head and cosmo thingy pet. You can also buy pets on the market . So idk if you don’t really play the game or really know much about it. It’s really not pay for convenience. Pay to look pretty and yea maybe alil pay for convenience but I mean you can still get all of that stuff and most of them free .
Your vid sold me on BDO1 Ive been playing for about 2 months now. Im a long time fan of MMORPGs, and this 1 so far is one of the best I have played in years1 Thanks for the Introduction!
At least you had the brains to stop, already not bad. But I'm sure that there are people with 10k + hours who continue to play this Korean money milking factory and are not going to stop. I feel sorry for them.
I only played to lvl 50 something before I lost interest. what was so good about it? When I watched streamers play it, it just seemed really repetitive and non-challenging (the combat).
@@kindnessofwooedandwooer2494 Sadly, combat in BDO is all about mass-killing the strongest monster you can one-shot. The power curve is so extreme that grinding something a bit too strong for your character is a huge waste of time, they take far more hits for a marginal increase in drop/exp. And if they are too much above you on the power curve, you simply won't be able to kill them at all, and they will one-shot you. So yeah, forget about looking for a challenge, it's all about efficiency at grinding at some popular spot. Level or skill are mostly irrelevant, it's all about your gear and how fast you can kill. How can this be fun ? I'm not sure if this qualifies as "fun", but mowing down thousands of mobs on autopilot while your pets are looting has something relaxing, it's an experience comparable to the one you get with these auto-clicker games, or just watching your factory running in a game like Factorio. Just a bit more involved and spectacular. But in the end, you grind to be able to grind more efficiently, that's all there is to it.
@@theslay66 thanks for explaining. I have yet to find an mmo where I feel challenged and has penalties for dying. If things are easy I lose interest in doing them.
well yes and no you could get char slots for 5000 Loyality... so 50 days of logging in.... and for 1 slot he gets the biggest pearl box possible whereas he could do with a 5€ one
if u can afford it and you wanna speed up the progress instead of grinding for certain things then why not? especially if ur making a TH-cam video, get a Job instead of complaining
@@izJordyGaming I think the point is it tells you this is a game designed intentionally limited and/or unbalanced to encourage these payments. Saying get a job is missing the point. The games designed to encourage multiple payments proportional to how addicted you get and the free aspect is designed to feed that addition. In other words the games not going to be balanced for a free or even reasonable cost experience, its balanced to pull you in with repeat payments to the point you either cant enjoy the game anymore or you become a whale (throwing unreasonable cash to the game to keep it progressing at a reasonable rate) for some this model is fine but for those with addition issues, even the ones with jobs (smh grow up with that comment) this can be crippling mentally and financially and for those people and the people who in principle disapprove of this model because it exploits those people 2:38 IS all you need to know, the rest of the video is full of more examples of it but 2:38 summarises it perfectly.
I went for a walk today and all I could think about was this video. So excited!!!! Edit: Finished the video, BDO is still not going to be a game that I play, but I am very encouraged that they have taken player feedback and implemented so many changes that have opened up the game to a wider variety of players.
Holy shit, he came back to the game with a 272/320 Nouver Wizard (15:52) and at 29:50 is 287/333 Kutum with full pen with Distortions and tungrads. Either he bought an insanely late game account or he's been grinding his fucking ass off while he made this video. He made about 150-200 billion silver upgrades from the beginning to the end of this video; which is months upon months of grinding. The highest efficiency grinds I've seen from top siege players is about 15-20b a week without p2w or exploit abuse, and that's grinding 6-10 hours a day. He was probably playing on his friends SEA account, I'm not sure when this was recorded as Odylitta came out in KR first and NA later. For those sections he is playing on a very powerful, top 1% account.
For those negative people, I see what you mean but there are ways to avoid them and actually enjoy the game. Ive been playing the game for 5 months now since Covid-19 lockdown. Its a fun game but as always there are things you need to avoid. 1st its a game not a life. If you want to sleep or going to the movies do so. No need to be constantly online. BDO is a marathon not a sprint. 2nd avoid the upgrading failstack where you can. Do life skills, gain the silver and buy the stuff off the market. Easy peasy no more PTSD. 3rd only grind if you have to, meaning grinding is not your main source of income because grinding is boring. Not only for this game but any other MMO games out there, grinding is boring. Lots of things to do in BDO like hunting, cooking, training, fishing etc. Sometimes I do get bored and I just ride around on my wagon do trading killing bandits on the way and I am a master trainer now. I may not be the strongest or the greatest player and I dont intend to be. I just enjoy the game as it should be. Its a game. Enjoy it and good luck.
Damn, finally someone who’s open minded. I’m getting tired of reading the comments about how this game is soul sucking. It’s there fault they put more time into the game then there own life.
if it had solid pve endgame, we wouldnt be talking about p2w at all... sadly you pay for nothing, just beat that one guy in pvp and thats it. I guess it has a player base so it works for them.
Guild wars has the best gearing system i've ever seen in an mmo. And.. one of the few mmo gearing systems that it's actually NOT impossible to get through. it is actually quite easy.
@@akhsdenlew1861 What is the gearing system like as I've never played it? Hopefully its nothing like WoW were everyone on the server gets the exact same gear in a day and zero variety other than a crap transmog ability so people actually look different since they all use the same gear anyway. WoW is terribly boring because of that, variety is the spice of life and an MMO were everyone is the same is just bland and bleh.
@@stevzor no when everyone is the same, then it's fair.. and only the capable players will thrive in pvp. There's no way u're gonna get ur full gear in day 1, but even if u're playing casually u're gonna get it probably less than 1 month. However the difference between wow and gw2 is that in GW2 the gear NEVER CHANGES. NEVER! U made the best gear and it's gonna be the best for ever... It's not gonna be useless 2 months later cus a new raid update came live... In gw2 though, each class has so many specs and builds and ways to play, which might require u to purchase multiple gears for the different stats OR u might wanna go for a legendary set which grants u the ability to costumize the stats as u wish ANYTIME. However legendaries are cancer to get.. The stats are the same as ur ascended gear, but it's the convinience that people bust their asses of. And in GW2 there are many ways to "improve" ur character via the mastery level and mainly through achievements.. Gear is just not one of them. It's a system that if GW2 wouldn't exist, i would be dreaming about it in my head as the "perfection" in an mmo..I am not even kidding.
I really wanted to get into this game. I've only put in like 23 hours and I like the combat and character creation, but it didn't have what I was looking for. Final Fantasy XIV is where my mind is at.
The sheer amount of effort your put into providing us with content genuinely makes you one of the best content creators out here, I sincerely respect and appreciate the work you do for us fans :) @TheLazyPeon ps I have been watching you since world of warcraft, even before that and even watched all of the vids about bdo in 2017-2018 :)
Yo! I use to play Forsaken World religiously back in 2010-2012 and even made it to one of the top players in illyfue server (spent heaps on the CS admittedly). Forsaken World was truly a great time for me and made so many friends in the world. I remember queing up in 3v3 PVP Arena very fondly-- ahh great times climbing to the top of the leaderboards with my fav priest fd- AurorA- then trading in arena points for sick ass gear. Im glad its not dead and on mobile now; so thanks for making it known to me Craig 🙏🥳
Mad props to the editor, I love the style and the little menes and comments are hysterical. Particularly if you are talking about going through 120 hours of content 😁
I feel like ultimately it will be a similar experience in terms of losing yourself in the game... but then again, isn't that at least partially why people are so hungry for a good mmo.
@@ZiIIous I could never personally get into it, mostly due to my pc being trash when the game came out and having lost interest/motivation to play it the longer it's been since the release. With the things peon said in this vid, it sure sounds alluring to try it out once more, but you know what... I'll just quit while I am ahead, that being - before I even really started. Edit: Still enjoy the videos Peon made on it, but the game really does seem like it's better when admired from afar.
@@ZiIIous It's definitely not your conventional theme park MMO and more akin to MMO's like Ultima Online, Tibia, Runescape to provide a "freedom" like experience. The game has been globally released in 2016 and it's obtained it's highest consistent active player count as of this year in 2020 four years later. It's printing money so it'll be here for a long while.
Please. God no. I'm way too hyped for AoC to let it be released too early before being fleshed out. I'm perfectly fine with waiting an extra year or even 2 if it means they clean up AoC completely. I haven't been this excited for a game in years, especially an MMO. I do not want it too early, so let them clean it up and release only when it is so it can kill all other MMOs because it has that potential.
BDO is so fun, right up until you hit that grind your life away wall. I tend to reinstall it some time after a new class is added just b/c the combat is enjoyable so leveling up a new class is fun. Thing is no matter what you'll hit that point where you get gear checked and I'm talking strictly PvE content. Where there is just no avoiding grinding to progress, I just want to be able to do all the PvE stuff w/o having to go through that atrocious grind and gear upgrade process. I don't care about PvP, I don't care if I'm weaker than those people but I wish they would open it up so seeing all the zones and being able to do all the quests, boorish as they are was possible straight through. It's gotten better over time, most recently with that seasonal stuff but still you hit that grind wall and that's just it for me. That grindy RnG style of progression holds no appeal for me.
And for many people grindy games will be repulsive. However, there's a lot of grindy people out there, who for soem reason enjoy this type of gameplay. :)
Yeah the amount of time you need to put in to get passed those gear walls is so demoralizing. 6 months+ ago I used to be in the higher end siege gear lvl at 600-620 gs. Put a lot of time etc into getting there, had some bad streaks took break for a while came back and now high end siege community is like 680-700gs+ min. In order to go from 620gs to that point is an insane amount of time or extreme luck required. Even the lifeskills as mentioned take so much initial investment and active time, bartering can be good but you need to have a job that you can tab out and barter constantly over the whole day to make good money . Can’t wait for some new games to come out, lost ark, Elyon, new world , even crimson desert
just put in 500 hours. this is one of the only mmorpgs i have enjoyed. i really enjoy these sandbox mmos more than your typical themepark like GW2 or WoW
let me say it like this: if you are more of a marathon than a sprint person and enjoy grinding and setting your own goals without being held by the hand (except kind of season servers), BDO is the MMO you are looking for its not pay 2 win, but it's true that you feel very tempted to buy stuff with cash i personally did spend around 300€-400€ total in BDO (a tent, some skins, weight limit, pets and horse skins) but i also played this game for almost 1900 hours now (1875 or so) the thing is either you love this game, or you hate it but you should definitely give it a try i was super sceptical about this game and now it took over my life (btw. if you do enjoy this game, it will really devour your lifetime)
and REALLY take it to your heart, that this game is a marathon and never blow up your gear never go PEN attempts without cron stones, without having backup gear just remember yourself all the hours, all the effort and all the time you put into don't waste it for 3 seconds of enhancing with 5% chance of success (assuming you have some fs) just don't
Hey Peon, i just want to show my appreciation for creating content that isnt just a edited streaming footage. The multi week effort put into these videos are greatly appreciated and I love your essay like content! Keep up the great work
I don't normally comment, but your summary at the end really aligned with how I feel now. I'm deep in bartering after starting again in July, 2020. I quit in December 2018. I wasn't super high geared or silver rich and with goal setting (sans enhancing) I'm getting rewarded for enjoying myself. Great video and I think you have been completely honest about the feedback, pros and cons.
Well it's semi sandboxy so you more or less make your own goals. For starters you should try to get to level 56 quickly so you can awaken your class and invest in at least a handful of nodes. In general your goal should be making a lot of silver which funds much of your advancement.
@xpnoia` Same opinion the combat and dynamic system is super nice but trough the grinding the quest are boring and 80% just run from a to b and u feel so alone no dungeons pvp is only enjoyable when ur high high end general not many group action in daily actions
@xpnoia` I feel this in every mmo tbh, even the ones you are forced to do dungeons with others. I did join a guild and they was very nice and helpful in BDO(using discord). Still it doesn't feel community like, the reason I am excited for AoC is for this if it doesn't deliver I will just keep waiting for one.
No, there is really no goal or END GAME other than just have better gear, BDO is a gear driven game, is just a never ending GRIND FEST, you have to grind by killing mobs or doing lifeskills to gain resources that allow you to buy better gear, so you can kill in more difficult areas that give more reward faster or do better lifeskill and earn more money, so you can buy better gear to go to the new area that will make you earn even more, to be able to buy a lot best equipment that will allow you to go to another better area where you will earn more and you can buy even better equipment and thus repeating the same again and again, and again. PA keeps making new maps with more difficult areas and making new better gear more expensive and dificult to gert, and that's the only goal, having the best gear posible to kill more and earn more that allows you to have the next best gear, for kill in the next hard area, and repit, over and over again. The pve (quest) stories are non-existent, the same as the PVP that does not exist and is broken beyond the repair, to the point that the developer no longer tries to fix it, it only limits itself to adding new classes.
@xpnoia` It is for solo grind fest, most of the ingame mechanics It encourages you to do it alone, doing things in a party are not worth it, oddly enough in a mmo the game encourages it the solo. u can have a guild, but mostly for chat only.
I fully agree. The new changes are definitely going to help bring new people in and the seasons mechanic will help catch up some of the painful points that made a lot of people quit this game.
Aakman, Hystria and Sycraia might come close to that, unless you specifically mean instanced dungeons with a couple of bossfights. That's just not BDO's thing.
good news for you my friend: BDO will get his first co op dungeon this year in general, there is a lot more co op / group content planned for the upcoming updates but it will probably still take a few months from now on
It's definitely gotten better, I played a lot over the summer and it felt great. And then I hit the TET Accessories wall... you either gamble and destroy everything, or get stupid lucky, lifeskill for 10 weeks, or cry as you spend 100 hours hardcore grinding 5-10 billion silver just to buy a single upgrade.
I feel like you give false impression of life skilling. It takes a shit ton of investment to get to the point of turning massive profit enough to render mob grinding irrelevant. Manos gears are insanely hard to come by and it's another layer of enhancement hell, and like most things in the game, they only serve to make the already rich players richer. New players will still have to devote much of their daily lives just to get to the starting point. I managed to quit the game cold turkey earlier in the year after blowing up all my life skilling gear that I spent months on. That feeling of months of your life just getting Thanos snapped in mere seconds is stomach churning as it leaves you with nothing to show for. Joe Rogan got a lot of crap for saying games are a waste of time, but in case of BDO, I don't think there is a truer statement. Thank god I managed to quit before Covid hit.
@@Arkeologen I had hatred for the game way before I quit and I blew up my gear because I wanted to quit. Doesn't mean it's still sickening to see all that time spent go to waste. Didn't even leave with fond memories of working towards end game gear like I maintain with every other MMOs I quit. Just a big regret. And that's what this game is, a big regretful waste.
@@Arkeologen Same reason why I wanted to quit. I felt obligated to continue playing due to how much I invested in the game already. There's a reason PEN roulette is a thing, a lot of people including myself need a reason to leave.
people needs livelihood too you know. just because you don't earn anything from playing video games doesn't mean game developers shouldn't earn anything for devoting their lives developing amd improving their games.
To be fair, while I hate "season/battle passes", BDOs is quite different and fair. In something like Fortnite the season pass is the ONLY way to get certain cosmetics, so there's a feeling of FOMO with the product. For BDO, all of those items are available in game in some way totally free; also it's about 80-100$ worth of cash shop items for $20, and they're mostly geared towards getting a fresh account into the game. As someone who's been playing the game for awhile there's no feeling of a need to buy it. There's also a free tier with the same set of objectives, so it gives you direction and goals for that season that are all achievable in about a day of playing. You only need to buy the pass if you want the additional rewards for the free tier you've already completed.

@@thombombadill9589 I said the season pass is a fair price compared to most other "battle/season pass" type content in other games. $20 for over $100 in additional cash shop items is fair. First off, let'a compare to most MMO. FFXIV costs $40 + $40 for shadowbringers + 15$ monthly sub, WoW costs about the same. So we have an entry point for most MMO around $80-100 for your first month and a $15 sub thereafter. BDO is free to play with constant events that give a free game key. Most seasons offer a free game key if you level to 50 (takes about 3-6 hours of questing). There is NO NEED to buy ANY cash shop items and many players have reached ultra late game (top 1-10%) without any P2W or cash shop purchases. The game gives out plenty of events that include things like inventory, weight, free pets from events/quests, maids, etc. The seasonal rewards (coco leaves) have inventory slots as a reward and there are inventory and pet rewards from quests. All trash items in the game have been rebalanced to weigh less and silver has no weight. You can stack trash loot on your horse infinitely, so weight is not an issue when grinding. There are map items for 500k (50000+ on market) that teleport you to town. You can get a tent item to repair your gear and buy potions for 14m every week instead of a cash shop tent. You can also buy all the cash shop items from the marketplace. Any time I want a new outfit, my order for about 330M fills in less than a week. Pets are also easily purchased on market and I've bought around a dozen and have five Tier 4 pets. Even value packs fill eventually, so you don't even need to buy monthly "premium" which only offers small upgrades like weight and inventory, which I said earlier are not needed. Every 6 months they offer a 180 VP that costs half the price if you were to buy 180 days regularly, this item can also be coupon'd. I got a 180 day VP for around $20 which with events will set me up for 6-9 months of VP. With about a week's worth of grinding (about 3-4 hours a day) on the seasonal servers you can reach full PEN Tuvala gear (257/309) and start grinding most of the end game zones such as Kratuga or Star's End. I'm 616 gear score and I still grind Kratuga for around 200-300M/hr and I could grind that same spot with 257/309 (which I did when I started). This means about 1-3 hours will net me enough silver to buy an outfit or pets or whatever I want from the cash shop. 1B a day, not including events and rift bosses (about 500-800M/wk), takes about 4-6 hours of grinding; this means I can get a PEN item every 14-20 days. I grinded my PEN offin in 17 days, and my first TET Distortion in about 22 days playing semi casually. Compare that to other MMO where it may take weeks of grinding a raid lock out to get my BiS item that I can't even use in PVP. Because of PVP rebalance, gear doesn't matter as much as it used to. A succession striker with 270AP can one-combo any class that has 400DP; and this applies to other classes as well. Damage and tankiness has been heavily rebalanced around giving people the ability to fully combo any DP. Gear only matters for super armor trading; which can be avoided with proper skill. This mean "p2w whales" aren't as much of an issue open world, and Pearl Abyss has showed data that only 1% of the population is over 650 gear score, giving ample brackets for people to participate in pvp, open world or in gear matched node wars. BDO has become an exceedingly fair game and you obviously didn't watch the video if even LazyPeon has changed their mind about it. If you don't want a PVP MMO experience, that's fair; but don't say that 50-100 hours of play time is unfair for gear progression when other MMO have steeper time commitments for gear. I've also seen plenty of people sink hundreds of hours into games like Cyberpunk or Skyrim, play what you enjoy but try not to be a judge of what other people think is fair for their time commitment. In terms of cost and time commitment, BDO is significantly more fair than it used to be; and honestly with their efforts of transparity of development (monthly dev streams, letters from the producer, yearly convention, etc) and their willingness to accept feedback and offer nerfs to the convenience items; they absolutely deserve your time and money. BDO is growing rapidly and they have a LOT of content coming up. This year they've had more content added than any in the previous years. They also just announced a new class that will come out in 10 days with the new season and teased the next expansion only 6 months after the previous one. It's a good time to get into BDO in my opinion.
games good, though i quit the game this year because i feel accomplished in my goals in the game. took a long time though, put in over 10k hours. hopefully a new game releases with this combat system, or they add a lot more new content to this game. grinding and lifeskilling get pretty boring after a few guru skills, and many pen attempts. t10 mounts seem interesting hope they do something good with the doom horse and unicorn. tried new world and that was pretty fun, might move onto that or ashes of creation or something in the future. pearl abyss is suppose to be working on a couple games, crimson desert, some cyberpunk shooter apocalypse game, some social pokemon game. maybe those will be good if we ever see them again. this is worth playing if you have a friend in the game.

Progression in BDO is made with lots of painful tears, it makes you feels like you're giving up on yourself when you're trying to quit.
"frustratingly" the perfect word to describe BDO.
Same thing for me, it's like a bad addiction, I even try not to watch too much video about the game 😅
33:51 that move was so sick
I main that class, the skill itself goes way further if he'd have kept pressing shift. And its nice to use in pvp too.

But in the end, you grind to be able to grind more efficiently, that's all there is to it.

well yes and no you could get char slots for 5000 Loyality... so 50 days of logging in.... and for 1 slot he gets the biggest pearl box possible whereas he could do with a 5€ one
if u can afford it and you wanna speed up the progress instead of grinding for certain things then why not? especially if ur making a TH-cam video, get a Job instead of complaining
Thank you for saving my time.
@@izJordyGaming I think the point is it tells you this is a game designed intentionally limited and/or unbalanced to encourage these payments. Saying get a job is missing the point. The games designed to encourage multiple payments proportional to how addicted you get and the free aspect is designed to feed that addition. In other words the games not going to be balanced for a free or even reasonable cost experience, its balanced to pull you in with repeat payments to the point you either cant enjoy the game anymore or you become a whale (throwing unreasonable cash to the game to keep it progressing at a reasonable rate)
for some this model is fine but for those with addition issues, even the ones with jobs (smh grow up with that comment) this can be crippling mentally and financially and for those people and the people who in principle disapprove of this model because it exploits those people 2:38 IS all you need to know, the rest of the video is full of more examples of it but 2:38 summarises it perfectly.
I went for a walk today and all I could think about was this video. So excited!!!! Edit: Finished the video, BDO is still not going to be a game that I play, but I am very encouraged that they have taken player feedback and implemented so many changes that have opened up the game to a wider variety of players.
This video is insane. Welldone somehow I stayed up watched the whole thing
Such a good looking game and I wish it was more of a guild wars or wow kinda ran company instead of so much rng and momey grabby
Agree
if it had solid pve endgame, we wouldnt be talking about p2w at all... sadly you pay for nothing, just beat that one guy in pvp and thats it.
Oh man I love this guy lmao. There's No bullshit, No Acting, Straight up Funny and to the point. Ok, You got me. Im clicking Subscribe
I am impressed... this video had it, literally, ALL!
seems he went into all stages of depression and finaly arrived to the last stage , acceptation
I really wanted to get into this game. I've only put in like 23 hours and I like the combat and character creation, but it didn't have what I was looking for. Final Fantasy XIV is where my mind is at.
LMFAO I was dying at 21 minutes with the sad titanic sound and the failed rolls OMFG lmfao good times...
omg same XD i came to the comment section just to see if anyone else pointed out how on point that was
The sheer amount of effort your put into providing us with content genuinely makes you one of the best content creators out here, I sincerely respect and appreciate the work you do for us fans :) @TheLazyPeon ps I have been watching you since world of warcraft, even before that and even watched all of the vids about bdo in 2017-2018 :)
Ive been taking my sweet time with BDO and LOVING it a lot.
BDO has the greatest innovative concept of MMORPG I have ever seen so far. It literally is like life on its own except you’re always unlucky 😂
Mad props to the editor, I love the style and the little menes and comments are hysterical. Particularly if you are talking about going through 120 hours of content 😁
"For the 50 millionth time in my life" lmao, I feel you bro
Steven you need to save Peon. Release Ashes!!!
I feel like ultimately it will be a similar experience in terms of losing yourself in the game... but then again, isn't that at least partially why people are so hungry for a good mmo.
@@TheDinis553 BDO isn't worth losing yourself into, even with all this, it still doesn't feel like an MMO, and doesn't seem like it has a future.
I swear I've seen you do this kind of video a trillion times.
But I love every one of it, and I'm going to love this one too.
the UI looks too cluttered/complicated imo. was always a barrier that kept me from getting into the game
you can easily change the UI to your liking
@@kronborgP wish i knew that before i quit
Environment and action looks very high quality. This should be contemporary MMO basic. Nice work.
We all knew this was coming 😂👍
Yes we did, and he knew it too lol
just put in 500 hours. this is one of the only mmorpgs i have enjoyed. i really enjoy these sandbox mmos more than your typical themepark like GW2 or WoW
let me say it like this:
if you are more of a marathon than a sprint person and enjoy grinding and setting your own goals without being held by the hand (except kind of season servers), BDO is the MMO you are looking for
its not pay 2 win, but it's true that you feel very tempted to buy stuff with cash
i personally did spend around 300€-400€ total in BDO
(a tent, some skins, weight limit, pets and horse skins) but i also played this game for almost 1900 hours now (1875 or so)
the thing is
either you love this game, or you hate it
but you should definitely give it a try
i was super sceptical about this game and now it took over my life
(btw. if you do enjoy this game, it will really devour your lifetime)
and REALLY take it to your heart, that this game is a marathon
and never blow up your gear
never go PEN attempts without cron stones, without having backup gear
just remember yourself all the hours, all the effort and all the time you put into
don't waste it for 3 seconds of enhancing with 5% chance of success (assuming you have some fs)
just don't
eh dude you're human. youre going to change your mind at times and thats fine. im just glad you reminded me to check out the game
I had a Problem with this game - i didnt get the feeling of some kind of goal!
Is there an actual goal?
It takes courage, confidence, self-love, and love towards your audience to say that you made a mistaken opinion. I love this channel more.
OMG I've watched your videos before I even played BDO, and now you're playing SEA!
I learned absolutely nothing from this video other than the graphics are pretty sweet.
That's usually true for advertisement videos. It only scratches the surface and tells you nothing else
so you missed the list in the end with 29 points? what even is this comment
I've recently come back to the game. I can't believe a lot of things has changed in a good way.
I quit BDO 6 months ago and here I am again checking out youtube videos about it while installing it. FML!
Bro, JUST the enhancement piece of the video made me never EVER want to play this.
RNG crafting and/or upgrading is the bane of existence.
27:27 I've never seen Milking Cows as a part of Gameplay, it's actually really cool!~
I fully agree. The new changes are definitely going to help bring new people in and the seasons mechanic will help catch up some of the painful points that made a lot of people quit this game.
Best action combat

When did it die?
Dragon's Dogma NEEDS TO COME BACK!
the only thing i really want in bdo is dungeons
Aakman, Hystria and Sycraia might come close to that, unless you specifically mean instanced dungeons with a couple of bossfights. That's just not BDO's thing.
good news for you my friend:
BDO will get his first co op dungeon this year
in general, there is a lot more co op / group content planned for the upcoming updates
but it will probably still take a few months from now on
It's definitely gotten better, I played a lot over the summer and it felt great. And then I hit the TET Accessories wall... you either gamble and destroy everything, or get stupid lucky, lifeskill for 10 weeks, or cry as you spend 100 hours hardcore grinding 5-10 billion silver just to buy a single upgrade.
8:36 i know how you feel :'( same happen to me everytime with aion :'(
I feel like you give false impression of life skilling.
Yeah but u blew it up yourself.... fool
Lol ofc this is coming from a person who blew up his gear like an idiot and quit and now he's hating on the game.
@@rasmie8858 I mean why were you playing it while u hated it?
@@Arkeologen Same reason why I wanted to quit. I felt obligated to continue playing due to how much I invested in the game already. There's a reason PEN roulette is a thing, a lot of people including myself need a reason to leave.

@@Mekose U said fair? 10$ for the game. 20$ for a Char bound costume. 20$ for mount costume. 15$ for 16 inventory expansion? 30$ for 300 weight expansion? 15$ for a 1 month premium. 35$ for PVP camo costume. 50$ for a convenient campsite? 1HR grind for ~3/100% EXP? Item drop chance at
@@thombombadill9589 I said the season pass is a fair price compared to most other "battle/season pass" type content in other games.
Respect and appericate the time and work into making the video. Its work. Time. And you took time to share it. So thank you.
games good, though i quit the game this year because i feel accomplished in my goals in the game.
took a long time though, put in over 10k hours.
hopefully a new game releases with this combat system, or they add a lot more new content to this game.
grinding and lifeskilling get pretty boring after a few guru skills, and many pen attempts.
t10 mounts seem interesting hope they do something good with the doom horse and unicorn.
