Bro I wanted to re-start this game and had the same start as you! I wanted to get back into it but dropped as I thought it was a ton of work to just ideally get back into it. Thanks for posting this, time to try out my old favorite again!
I am a bit frustrated since you clearly did not read the text when choosing the region to start where it clearly recommends ancient stone chamber for new players (the quest line is reworked) and the other 2 regions it says recommended for veterans Love your content. Hope you can get back to enjoying bdo ❤❤
Pearl Abyss has done a great jobs with Quality of Life improvements. It’s also now much easier to get gear and content is no longer being gear locked behind massive grind walls. Overall BDO is moving to the direction I always hoped it would.
So would you say that it would be good for someone who tried it out back in 2016 when it released for NA to hop back in? I am very open to honest opinions & suggestions!
@@Gillian_FFXIVIt's still a really good mmorpg in my opinion. They've also made it pretty easy to hop into it for new players by giving a ton of free stuff (which, as a more experienced player, is quite hard to witness honestly, but still great to see new players joining constantly.) It's still very popular and even overcrowded at times, so it's not one of the many dying MMOs out there either. When you join, make sure to make a season character. When leveling and questing as one, you get even more free stuff and a really good set of equipment for beginners. Hope to see you out there sometime👋
@@Gillian_FFXIVIf you wanna try it out, I suggest you to start now, so you have about a month of seasonal character! Also, pick the 1st main quest, it explain much more, and also u experience the mainland :3
especially how they made the gear progression for newbies work. i’m happy that newbies and returnees now will enjoy easier early progression and that’s amazing. although the end game part is still as challenging but still, the game is so welcoming to new players of BDO.
For some reason every time I think of bdo I think of TheLazyPeon. This game and your channel have so much connection for me, and it's great to see how both you and the game have evolved over the years. I don't have the time to play the game anymore, but it's almost nostalgic to watch you reviewing it once more. 😊
I was a new player this season. I picked Woosa and chose LOML. Honestly, I liked the stories They're quite good, to the point that I hoped there were more episodes. But to Peon's point, it's about 80% story. You won't get to fight a lot. But I fully learned most of my combos when I finished LOML and did Valencia's and Kamasylvia's quest lines; where you'll get to fight a lot. I'm currently lvl 59.
It's your own fault for choosing it though. It literally says recommended for veterans on both newer zones and recommended for beginners on the original starting zone.
What was good about the story? I am genuinely surprised people are praising LoML story because in my experience it was same old poor quality writing and dialogs bloated with useless lines that don't matter much. Cutscenes were mostly stationary with buggy walking animations without much happening in them. The only decent thing I guess was voice acting but without the backbone of good storytelling it just isn't enough imo.
You can now skip LOML's cutscenes currently on KR and will be available worldwide soon. And, I loved the LOML story. The content of this continent is for those who like stories or those who are interested in the old culture of Korea. All the stories of LOML are taken from Korean folktales. Hare and turtle too. If you're not interested in the story, I think it's natural that it's not fun. It's disappointing, but each person thinks differently.
I agree! While story is not groundbreaking, it's still a story and some people might enjoy it. I love the traditional looking painting cutscenese and tbh I thought Enteral Mountain story was mildly interesting. Wish BDO devs had interest in story/lore from the start, but better later then never.
The logic of MMO people, only the long term progress matter. It don't matter to compare with other game with combat and boss combat which most people would get boriing and moved on to another game, PVE combat is purely experience, that why we have lot of games: Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy, devil may cry lot of JRPG action combat. Other action combat had it merit because of freshtaking experience The best of Black Desert is the Open world and multiple classes. The Quest Story is to enhance the feeling and experience with the "World". There is other games with better long term goal and so. If you think LOML story is not fun, Other games have their own merit like Elden ring & monster hunter world have good boss combat. Best merits for BDO is most people tried Black Desert is free occasionally
Tried the game out 2-3 years ago, felt an immense potential but there was such a need of QOL so I just stopped playing it for other games. Like everyone, new expansion and event rewards brought me back, and now I'm feeling like actually stepping into something worth my time. Still some upgrades needed mostly on the start of the adventure for new players being overwhelmed (y'all know what i'm talking about), but most of the game feels fluid. Take the game at your pace, specialize in what attracts you the most in the game and just enjoy your adventure. You can get immense pleasure from being casual as much as theorycrafting gear and farming routes/plannings. Just don't take this as a second job. Game's future seems very bright!
For returning seasonal players no matter if you choose the middle or right path you can still skip the whole MSQ given you already finished it all at some point on that account, just start the original MSQ when you can and when you get directed to Velia there will be an option to fast track each part with only a lv requirement, do this BEFORE graduating otherwise that option won't exist meaning you either spam R your way through 6hrs of MSQ or just ignore it for the end of time. *Oh also you can do this on the left path too, if you time piece your 60+ seasonal char, choose the left path on the booster char to quickly get to velia and viola MSQ skipped again don't forget to do this on the other char before using the time piece as it puts that char out of season.
In my honest opinion I thought PA gonna sink BDO real fast, but to my surprised atm it seems like game is improving little by little. I hope trade and fishing lifeskills gonna get rework as soon as possible. I appreciate their effort in creating lore and actual stories. Love all the quality of life changes so far. There is still so much to improve, but better late than never.
@@PatchesFlannigan Questing is where you get contribution points, decent rewards and gain some energy points. You will end up doing quests as a veteran player anyway, because you need resources. Nobody is holding gun at you to force you to do questing. You know you can just straight up don't do it? It's an option. Maybe try it. If you think you're only one who googles what is that and what this do... I been playing since 2017 and I still google, because I just don't know.
The game clearly tells you that starting in the new zone is recommended only for veterans and that new players should start with the original starting zone. There are many reasons for that including missing major quest rewards that are useful as a new players. But for some reason many people ignore that recommendation and kind of ruins their first experience honestly, including the minimal combat like you said.
To which I would say, the best starter questline would be eternal winter. The original Balenos line is too bloated and could be overwhelming whereas the eternal winter is streamlined and is honestly the shortest one and by the end you are level 50+.
The reason why so many are doing it is probably because BDO is getting a bit of a hype at the moment, many have seen all the ads for the new area, the new setting which all the ani/manga people especially like and then people like to skip the note that it is only intended for veterans, since such comments are rather superfluous in other games as well. It's not an excuse, but it might explain why a lot of people do it.
Crystals have been changed to presets now instead of being in gear, if you open the black spirit menu and go to transfusion you can set up crystal presets. it means that you can use the same preset on multiple characters at once, or change between say a pve and pvp crystal preset without having to change your gear around
just got back into BDO because i saw an Advertisement about free T9. I am happy with what they did with the game since i quit in 2020. Happy to see another BDO video from TheLazyPeon :)
When choosing a starting zone the new zones literally say "Recommended for veteran players", vet players already know the good parts about the game so they dont need to be highlighted, what they didnt have a lot of is good story telling, which the new zones are decent at.
It means everything and nothing at the same time. For veteran players in term of lore, but not in term of difficulty. They should say "Recommended for insomniac players", it's really boring.
"Decent" is an overstatement, I do admit there were a few fun parts; but we don't care shit about storytelling, we all did Loml as fast as possible to access bosh rush, new crystals and dahn gloves. Storytelling never was bdo main feature, combat is.
i mean, the world and the combat are still phenomenal without competition. If WoW can still go strong after nearly 20 years, I don't see why the mmo that has the best innovative combat system and one of the best worlds wouldn't
@@DC-wo2yb It got better because they toned down the pay for benefit things, weight, bag slots, horses, teletport, tents ect... honestly, people was quiting because of those, the game itself is amazing.
I've back to game 2/3 months ago and i enjoy it like never before. Pearl Abyss doing really great job so this game is defo worth trying, 2 weeks ago I've tapped my first pen bs so finally im over 700GS now ❤

@@KelpyJesus Not only you don't need to gamble, you also don't even need that gear. You can simply play capped content. Uncapped content is irrelevant nowadays, BDO has gone full casual mode.
@@KelpyJesus u dont have to gamble if u go kzarka/dande/nouver or kutum for ur weapons and then caphras upgrade them to level 20 which is equivalent to PEN blackstar minus a handful of monster damage but u will still be fine in any zone with that and PvP too
Very good point. You have to play to your strong points. Something PA seems some problems to comprehend sometimes. For a regular BDO player like me new questline wasn't half bad, because i'am in semi bored state with the game anyway, but for a new player -- absolutely, this is not the kind of experience you want to show off. And as far as playing to your strengths. For the longest time now i thought that PA should double down on combat and mob grinding, as this is sort of a the main attraction of this game. They should hone the combat, straighten up cc stances and conditions, s, refine mobs design, their attack patterns and damage, attack telegraphs. By doing this you will make an extremely engaging and fun gameplay system that will serve as a massive pillar for your game. I could elaborate, but post is too long and i'am lazy. Instead PA tries to invent bicycle with their boss rush and listen to ppl who think they know what they want and what they're talking about when talking about so called "group content".
New BDO player here. When I made my first seasonal character I started in that new zone thinking it would be cool, but after reaching level 20 through Hard R'ing through random dialogue and auto pathing, I was so confused about when the combat was going to start and then someone in chat explained I should have picked the original zone. I made a new seasonal character and started at Ancient stone chamber and am having a way better time actually fighting mobs and exploring the region. Sure there is a lot of spamming R and doing mindless stuff, but that is all MMOs for the most part. If they fix the harsh pop in it will be waay more immersive.
Yeah, the pop in is pretty bad, sadly. They are developing a new game called "crimson desert" wich is like a single player spin off of bdo, hopefully, they would be able to port engine and assets, but that's just me wishing haha.
I did exactly that. Was a new player and did that quest line. Gave it a good try but got very bored and quit then found guild wars. BDO looks amazing and is fun from what I played before but like you said if I wanted to spend 3 hours chatting I’d just watch a movie
Really enjoyed the story and much better delivery with land of the morning light, 8 hours of "story" is nothing give me more story, i love it loml's story was actually pretty good continues to show improvement tho with everything bdo zero effort is ever done for localization in terms of animation and many occurrences of jitter or teleporting hurt its delivery (With that said it was significantly less jank then mountain of eternal winter/balenos/magnus used to be and likely still are). (Recommended for veteran adventurers) game flat-out tells new players it's not for them It's there but it's not an option they should pick and if they do it's on them to understand the content they have chosen Atleast pearl gives the choice to the player unlike any other mmo i can think of where these story skips would be a paid per character unlock. Perhaps having the balenos (ancient chamber) story being center larger then the other two would make it more clear to a new player to pick it over the other two veteran starts However negatives First: Loml for one of the veteran starts the combat that was there is incredibly low bar even the balenos new player start has more difficulty to it's combat think only one fight in loml saw my health dip at all. Second: It's great that you only have to complete the story once and then the bosses are unlocked family wide but one of the high points of BDO is the freedom to approach your path and do anything. There should be a means of just unlocking the bosses separate from the story just like the simplified storyline option balenos gives for those that just wanted the combat.
I hope he's able to cut through enough of the stigmas and bullshit to really put some time into the game and form an educated opinion this time. It's a great mmo that just doesn't warrant the hate anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I tried playing this game, I have played it in the past when the Dark Knight came out and played it to like 66 and had a blast tbh with the original storyline. Now I have came back since the expansion released and thought I'd give that a go.... Well, after an hour of no skippable cutscenes I had to watch, that honestly werent that bad but in a grinder MMO are completely unnecessary, and a fuck ton of pointless running, I was like Level 28 already without killing a single monster. I dont know what the point of the early levels is then? Of course leveling fast is always good but when it becomes that fast that I literally skip multiple levels just from one quest, I dont really understand the point for them in the first place. Also everything was so overwhelming, I had so much stuff from not logging on that on the new character, my whole inventory was filled with random stuff which I didnt know what 90% of them even did. So then I simply deinstalled it again, I am not too sure how to connect to this game but when a game just throws you in there without any real good explanation or without having a linear system, it kinda throws me off. There is so much shit to do at the beginning that it is just exhausting tbh to even start the game. Maybe its just me lol.
Peon, i remember bumping into you on the streets of Zwolle, i screamed ( with headphones on ) Peon??. you were very confused. been watching you for a long time. also you were a little bumped out by life etc. and now after 3 ish years and you moving to Thailand. working out. and with the YT channel. im actually happy for you that it all worked out. Much love from Zwolle! and keep it up
yo peon, havent watched the vid yet but you got me into this game and bdo has changed an absolute SHIT ton with so many QOL changes, hope you have given it a proper retry would be goated to bring more players to the game by you playing it again and making content
I'm a brand new player. I've never given BDO a chance bc of all the stigma around it, but with all the recent changes I'm loving this game! It's basically the perfect mmo for me
I want to play BDO so bad for the graphics and action combat.... but I'm just constantly overwhelmed with random bullshit on my UI constantly. How do you get past it
@@Slipfish yeah not only that, the game keeps giving you random weird items that new players don't know what to do with them its hella annoying, if grinding 24/7 mobs is what you want then BDO is the game for you
@@_mangos_ I'd take you up on that but I don't know what I don't know, ya know? Like I have no idea what I can safely ignore and what would be completely gimping myself. I do high end content in multiple games already so just having something I can zone out and vibe and grind on that has fun gameplay is the dream but I don't have 250 hours just to decode a million convoluted systems.
i like quests. the fact that there's more story is the one thing that's actually slightly making me consider coming back to it. the brainless combat is what made me stop playing to begin with.
My man you really should've given the loml stories a shot. They are generally good and some of them are really damn good. Like getting towards ffxiv good. I read through all of the 12 stories completely with my camera zoomed in, 2-3 stories a day. I was really imersed and enjoying the story. It was honestly a really nice change of pace and one of the most fun I had in this game to this day. Edit: forgot to mention i put the va for loml on korean. Cant stand the english va. Korean is quite good though and makes it even mire immersive after you get used to it
BDO needs to deliver text in a way that isn't atrocious, put the whole thing on screen so you can skim through it and not just endless spam of sentences.
How did you put korean va? theres no option.. or do u have korean acc? Also.. don't expect a lot of MMO players to care for a story in a game.. We can't read XD
@@XTGAMEZ009 you can change that in the audio settings, it's labeled "npc voice". and yeah that is true. I'm just a sucker for good stories and will enjoy them when I encounter them
It's one of the most decent mmo's out there, where you have a place whether u want PVP, dress up simulator or just chilling out on an mmo, I quit this game before because the accessory enhancement was so brutal, but after recently going back in the game, everything is now a lot better, Good job P.A keep it up.
I thought PA did a good job of trying to add story cut scenes and a quest-centric progression. However they should've cut 1/3 of the story on Land of the Morning Light and replace it with combat quests. Like you said this game is known for its action combat. They just need to balance it out. I've really enjoyed my time since coming back to BDO 2 weeks ago.
What they need to do is make the cutscene skippable in a game where 90% spams R to skip dialogue its makes no sense its not like loml is that good in storyline its pretty much just do mindless activities go to boss fight boss get knocked out by boss do more pointless shit go back to boss and defeat boss and do this 12 more times thanks
@@jonathanford7055 Because the “story” consisted of a feeling of endless repetition I already wrote this, do mindless running around collect items process items run to boss get knocked out by boss do more of the same things then run back to boss and defeat it and this gameplay loop continues for 8-12 hours. From a gameplay perspective it felt completely meaningless not to mention the cutscenes being horrible and bugged even some of them were just pictures. Bdo has never been a story driven game all we ask is for them to stop forcing half assed “story content” down our throats this means to atleast let us skip the cutscenes. Also every time some lore is added with an expansion I do read up on what I’m playing and by reading a summary of loml before playing it’s definitely not a good story but sure guess I’ll have to sit 20 hours reading dialogue to tell you it’s horrible Most players are playing loml for the 1ap - 1dp stat increase plus boss rush. to get to the actual meaningful content you need to spend 12 hours of pain
Thanks Craig! BDO is so inscrutable for newbies...even though I played a few years ago, I forgot everything. So I created a new season character, didn't like it, wanted to make a new one... but I had all these pearl items and expensive stuff in my inventory. I went on a Discord and they demanded I save it all in storage, even tho I had no idea what it was and really didn't want it. Even after 2 hours of play, these people on Discord said I had billions of silver worth of free stuff in my inventory that I COULD NOT LOSE. (I got yelled at for even thinking of trashing it.) I dunno, this game is so difficult to fathom, they give you loads of crap and the description on items is meaningless unless you've been playing for years. And the community is incapable of putting themselves in a newbie's shoes, and expects them to understand the baffling UI and mountains of crap the game throws at you. I know BDO will never get the smooth on-boarding procedure it needs, but ahh well. It IS a good game, underneath all the cruft.
Spot on with the criticism. MMO "story" is a way for devs to capitalize on live service monetization without producing actual content or systems. The only "story" that matters in virtual worlds is the one players create via their actions.
Another person ignoring the story of this region, it is really really good this time around and they actually put effort into it, while understandable, it's sad to see the R mashing. Also when selecting, it quite literally says "Recommended for New Players" on Stone chamber and "Recommended for Veterans" on the other two. It's not valid to mash R through the story then call it bad
I usually pay attention to stories in video games, and love games like Pillars of Eternity which have multiple books levels of story crammed in. I came back to BDO and paid close attention to the new map's story for about an hour, but the cutscenes were (no offense, and I like the game too) so laughably bad and unpolished (both in camerawork and animations) I just couldn't take the story seriously at all... and the rough translation didn't help much. Would you say the story is better than other games? Maybe I should give it another try
The story is as plain as it can be. How cutscene animations can be worse than the actual gameplay animations shows that they don't really put much effort into it and rather just badly mash a bunch of old animations together without even polishing them. It's very low standard to call them "really good".
I played it a couple months ago right before everyone started checking it out again. It's definitely better than it was, but it's still a heavily monetized game with a lot of bottlenecks that you have to pay or grind around it. Now, I'm not against grinding for progression, but in this game it feels like the shit you're grinding 10+ hours would only require you maybe an hour in any other mmo. Like stuff that you normally expect to already have. If you play it as a trade/money making sim and set aside any expectations you normally have for your typical mmorpgs, I think there's definitely something here for you to enjoy.
One of my main issues with going back to BDO is the confusion every time I start the game up after being gone for a while. Though, that is pretty much the same in all Chinese and Korean MMOs. One more reason why I love OSRS, even if I leave for a year, I know, when I return, I will know what's up in the first minutes, lol.
I feel horrible for new players that choose this starting area, even as a veteran returning player, this was the most glitchy, spam r experience I’ve had on Bdo
As a new player that tried bdo, using the old map (the recommended one) was no better. BDO treats awfully new players, after have spent 15 minutes pressing R and having my first quest being "run for 10 minutes to another point of the map" i uninstalled. BDO is for players that already played BDO
@@undefined8811 honestly the new player experience is a problem with too many mmos. WoW has massive problems with it, FF14 still has some problems with it (the beginning was boring, at least imo) and BDO has too much content bloat and boring early game.
@@Marxist-Nixonist-Bidenist Also the fact that bdo doesnt let you change the UI, Witch takes up 50% of the player screen at the start. I would prefer a slow and maybe a Little boring start of the other choice Is "get overwhelmed! Also, 3000 gifts and all of the you dont know how to use"! But yeah most mmo have a mediocre start, expecially the "old" ones. Last month i tried new world, that Is the only mmo that i tried, at least, Who let you do whatever you wanted without being too boring and without telling you too much that was not needed
I used to see BDO as a game with the greatest potential out of any mmorpg. Now, Pearl Abyss turned it into everything I hoped it would be. Absolutely LEGENDARY.
BDO is the new Eve Online. I log in after a break and have to spend the first week sorting through inventory, auctions, and everything 🤣 At least in BDO, you can access it all from one town. In Eve Online, you have to go light years away
Felt the same way about that new quest line. Pearl Abyss needs to get out of the quest writing business or at very least let you skip those forced cutscenes. They also need to allow you to have a skip all dialogue setting. Such a pain having to click R 100 times at every NPC.
I honestly really enjoyed the stories and questline. I'm also a huge fan of ProZD aka Songwon Cho who voice acted your companion through the story and his twist was really wonderful. BDO has a pretty deep amount of lore, it's just never been communicated properly. BDO has been trying to add new content for all types of players, and one of the weakest points was the story presentation; which LoML tries to fix and does a pretty decent job if you're the kind of person who enjoys that. I do agree though that there should be some expedited way to speed through all the story if you just want the rewards and boss blitz stuff asap. As someone who enjoys PVP, LoML feels like a requirement because of the adventure log rewards and crystal slots, if I was playing as hardcore as I used to a few years ago; I would have been angrily skipping through everything so I could get back to grinding. In the LoML storyline there are certain crossroad quests for violent or peaceful options, like you can kill Sangoon or resolve it peacefully by finding his cub (the reason he's on a rampage), which actually has the long term effect of his cub being adopted by Shakatu if you kill Sangoon. I think it would be funny and also good QoL if at the beginning of the story there was a "shut up, don't care, let me go punch everything" option for the tryhards that want the quick and dirty violent route.
The stories are actually really good... the problem is that if you just spam R and ignore everything about them it's the most boring thing you could ever do with the game. I was spamming my way through them, but when I actually started listening to the story and the cutscenes I was having a lot more fun
as far as i remember the winterzone questline is the first test to release with lots of scenes and focus on lores. They are trying to add some humor unfortunately they are doing it bad.after that they revamp some questline including balenos.
The quality of life is improving, so happy that PA listened to their players, I heard also that they are planning to add the treasure items like infi pots into the CM. Huge update!
@@thegoatmen7736 then do the other 99999hrs worth of content in the game rather than play the story focused content and complain about the story being too focused on

I agree I'm just not going to do that content. Don't you get locked in that area if you start there? I'm assuming he didn't know it was going to be like that.
Your rant on FF14's story to gameplay ratio just proves you haven't given it a chance. There's plenty of gameplay in there, and it doesn't lock you into it's story quests the way this does. Plus it's not even the main story that is amazing, but plenty of the side stories are equally good, sometimes better. Just because it isn't your kind of game doesn't mean you can get away with trash talking it with unfounded and factually ridiculous insults. Just admit you can't be bothered to follow a story, whether or not its good, and leave it at that.
wow chill there buddy. coping and simping for ff14 is all fine and dandy if you enjoy your tedious cutscene simulator so be it but don't try to force your clearly biased views with an agenda on others lmao.
I feel you on the whole "lets see how much stuff I got in the mail" Lol! I have only played like 14 hrs total since the game came out. Reason is because I was blasted with so much and so confused with everything (still am) and never really just gave it a chance. This week I loaded the game from the last time I played in 2021 and really trying to learn. I'm still having difficulties with most of it, but really trying to read everything and get clarification on streamers vids on understanding a lot of the game. I'm thinking of getting New World, I'm still on the fence. I don't know that I like the 'classless' bit of it. Anyway, BDO is fun so far just a lot is blasted in your face when you start.
11:00 if you read what's written in the square brackets, it says "Recommended for Veteran adventurers".. that by it self should tell a new player that this start is not the best for them. Saying the Land of Morning Light questline is bad for new players is completely braindead take because it was never meant for new players in the first place. Majority of people wanned more story, more cinematic experience. So PA gave it to them. The new questline is really long, that's because they have 10 bosses based on Korean folklore and each deserves some sort of an introduction. 14:55 "I wish the game gave me more time to go grind mobs".. Idk if you've noticed, but the whole thing about LOML is that it is not about grinding mobs.
Pearl Abyss deleted my original account so i had to buy it again so i could grab some pets and the Tier 9 Dream Horse and i got completely hooked. I now have a 61 Drakania and a 61 Nova with less than 100 hours
To be fair they gave out notices via Email and social media about the kakao split several months in advance before it happened and gave people the opportunity to move their kakao data to PA with no loss of progress and a few bonus goodies so you could have if you wanted to. I'm happy you're having a blast with your new account tho!
I heard of the improvements Pearl Abyss has made to the game so I decided to come back. My account was on an old email I don't use often. I never knew we had to merge the accounts at one point. My day 1 account with all the unique stuff from Conqueror's pre-order package is now forever gone. I'm truly happy about the state of the game and upkeep from the devs, but I don't have the emotionnal strength play again :')
You're unironically better off as a fresh player instead of having this bloated carcass of an old account with random nodes and houses all over the world sneakily eating your contribution points that you've forgotten, items all over with no use or value in every storage, and absolutely no clue where you are in the important progression quests. The conqueror's pack doesn't have anything special in it iirc. You can spend $60 and be totally set up to play now, and I believe the conqueror's pack had less stuff in it and was $100. You didn't play for like 3+ years, if you have interest I'd say it's worth starting again. You can watch the ImChoice zero to hero videos for inspiration.
Two reasons why veteran players actually did the LoML quest line are the Boss Blitz, where you get really good rewards, and the +1 ap to all your characters, yup it's only +1 but that's how end game is, everybody scraping for the tiny bit of free AP. Also, level 4-5 storage expansions in LoML cost only 1 Contribution Point.

I am a bit frustrated since you clearly did not read the text when choosing the region to start where it clearly recommends ancient stone chamber for new players (the quest line is reworked) and the other 2 regions it says recommended for veterans
Love your content.

@@Gillian_FFXIV they give free pen gear now and let's u hit around 240+ ap with free seasonal gear which would have taken at least a year back then
@@Gillian_FFXIVIf you wanna try it out, I suggest you to start now, so you have about a month of seasonal character!
I start playing in 2020 because of his first impression video :D
Thanks Peon, ypur uploads is always entertaining
I was a new player this season. I picked Woosa and chose LOML. Honestly, I liked the stories They're quite good, to the point that I hoped there were more episodes. But to Peon's point, it's about 80% story. You won't get to fight a lot. But I fully learned most of my combos when I finished LOML and did Valencia's and Kamasylvia's quest lines; where you'll get to fight a lot. I'm currently lvl 59.
Yeah. I actually wanted more of the stories which is weird.
It's your own fault for choosing it though. It literally says recommended for veterans on both newer zones and recommended for beginners on the original starting zone.
LOML is basically story based mostly for the 10 bosses in that region. LOML is not a combat “per se” region unlike Belanos to Valencia.
@@RealTaIk He liked the story, so He did nothing wrong. I think if someone loves storyline and new to this game, he(or she) should play LOML.
Other action combat had it merit because of freshtaking experience
The best of Black Desert is the Open world and multiple classes.
There are reasons to not skip it, quest completion adventure log is one. But at least there is a option and its free.
@@PatchesFlannigan Sir this is a youtube comment section, take it up with HR or something.
@dharmdevil and yet you HAVE to do the Balenos line for the rest of the game. Eternal Winter is good for season, not a brand new account
Fake News. New accounts can start in New Zones also since Main Quest doesnt put you in danger. Educate yourself or play the game before typing.
@@El1t3 No one said that it puts you in danger. You should try reading the OP and comments again 🥱
New Peon video posted 11 minutes ago... LETS GET IT! Felt the same way you felt about MMOs and actually came back to BDO 4 days ago myself.

When choosing a starting zone the new zones literally say "Recommended for veteran players", vet players already know the good parts about the game so they dont need to be highlighted, what they didnt have a lot of is good story telling, which the new zones are decent at.
I don't understand why people don't read what's in front of them. It's one of the most basic skills we posses as 21st century people.
It means everything and nothing at the same time. For veteran players in term of lore, but not in term of difficulty. They should say "Recommended for insomniac players", it's really boring.
@@AzuraeJadesIt's just a lot story driven, I had a mindless arcade on phone, so i could watch the story in peace
"Decent" is an overstatement, I do admit there were a few fun parts; but we don't care shit about storytelling, we all did Loml as fast as possible to access bosh rush, new crystals and dahn gloves.
Storytelling never was bdo main feature, combat is.
YESSIR, welcome back!!
never expected bdo to have this kind of longevity
i mean, the world and the combat are still phenomenal without competition.

Since you are so into BDO could you make a video for a beginners? Like with explanations of everything a new player should know about the game :)
Maybe you already find out but u can get a much more simplified UI in the options
I don’t think PA will tweak or change their base game engine any time soon. Fixing the pop in would really be great though…
Really enjoyed the story and much better delivery with land of the morning light,
8 hours of "story" is nothing give me more story, i love it loml's story was actually pretty good continues to show improvement
tho with everything bdo zero effort is ever done for localization in terms of animation and many occurrences of jitter or
teleporting hurt its delivery
(With that said it was significantly less jank then mountain of eternal winter/balenos/magnus used to be and likely still are).
(Recommended for veteran adventurers) game flat-out tells new players it's not for them
It's there but it's not an option they should pick and if they do it's on them to understand the content they have chosen
Atleast pearl gives the choice to the player unlike any other mmo i can think of where these story skips would
be a paid per character unlock.
Perhaps having the balenos (ancient chamber) story being center larger then the other
two would make it more clear to a new player to pick it over the other two veteran starts
However negatives
First: Loml for one of the veteran starts the combat that was there is incredibly low bar even the balenos new player start
has more difficulty to it's combat think only one fight in loml saw my health dip at all.
Second: It's great that you only have to complete the story once and then the bosses are unlocked family wide
but one of the high points of BDO is the freedom to approach your path and do anything. There should be a means
of just unlocking the bosses separate from the story just like the simplified storyline option balenos gives for those that
just wanted the combat.
Always cool to see you return to this game

My man you really should've given the loml stories a shot. They are generally good and some of them are really damn good. Like getting towards ffxiv good.
@@Jeromez "it's skipped it all, it's garbage". Okay then, if you skipped it all how do you even know if it was bad or good?
@@jonathanford7055 Because the “story” consisted of a feeling of endless repetition I already wrote this, do mindless running around collect items process items run to boss get knocked out by boss do more of the same things then run back to boss and defeat it and this gameplay loop continues for 8-12 hours.
From a gameplay perspective it felt completely meaningless not to mention the cutscenes being horrible and bugged even some of them were just pictures.
Bdo has never been a story driven game all we ask is for them to stop forcing half assed “story content” down our throats this means to atleast let us skip the cutscenes.
Also every time some lore is added with an expansion I do read up on what I’m playing and by reading a summary of loml before playing it’s definitely not a good story but sure guess I’ll have to sit 20 hours reading dialogue to tell you it’s horrible

Welcome back mate
GW2 showed you can do area based storytelling and events but jamming a combat gamer into an 8 hour slog of painfully tedious cutscenes isn't it.
Really been enjoying BDO more and more lately. Combat is too crisp.
Guess we’re all back again
The reason most people got into ff14 is becauae the story stop comparing bdo to ff14 bdo is not even close to having a good story
You showed 7 mins of inventory cleaning and 3 mins of combat. Epic work mate.
1: LOML story is fine if u actually listen it
2: you can skip cutscenes
If you listen to it it gets worse
We back baby Pog
Another person ignoring the story of this region, it is really really good this time around and they actually put effort into it, while understandable, it's sad to see the R mashing.
Also when selecting, it quite literally says "Recommended for New Players" on Stone chamber and "Recommended for Veterans" on the other two.
It's not valid to mash R through the story then call it bad
It's Peon, he never cares for story, he wants good combat and pvp so of course he will say story is bad
Theres a good reason why BDO is back on top being one of the top 5 most popular MMOs
welcome back :D
One of my main issues with going back to BDO is the confusion every time I start the game up after being gone for a while. Though, that is pretty much the same in all Chinese and Korean MMOs. One more reason why I love OSRS, even if I leave for a year, I know, when I return, I will know what's up in the first minutes, lol.
With BDO's weekly updates it does change a lot. Fixes, patches, buff, nerfs, etc it does get overwhelming for those who are away.
All mmo's period tbh. happened to me going back to wow after a year hiatus
Can't wait for the 2024 video too!
You are SO right about the eyes, something about how BDO's characters eyes look has always bothered me and almost nobody else sees it.
I miss these videos this guy got me back into
MMO genre years ago all I gotta say is Jumpaaaaahh😅🤙
I used to see BDO as a game with the greatest potential out of any mmorpg. Now, Pearl Abyss turned it into everything I hoped it would be. Absolutely LEGENDARY.
BDO is the new Eve Online. I log in after a break and have to spend the first week sorting through inventory, auctions, and everything 🤣
At least in BDO, you can access it all from one town. In Eve Online, you have to go light years away
Felt the same way about that new quest line. Pearl Abyss needs to get out of the quest writing business or at very least let you skip those forced cutscenes. They also need to allow you to have a skip all dialogue setting. Such a pain having to click R 100 times at every NPC.
devs think that people playing their game for the lore quests and story, its so funny
It's not a mobile game lol
@@KingJerbear Exactly.
Damn, Peon must have had the most insane glow up on TH-cam.
Amazing work on the weight loss and self-improvement!
if the game main selling points is combat, this game is fking trash haha
must applaud ur persistence with bdo xD
The questline of the winter zone was equally horrible. How did they not listen to feedback on this...
as far as i remember the winterzone questline is the first test to release with lots of scenes and focus on lores. They are trying to add some humor unfortunately they are doing it bad.after that they revamp some questline including balenos.
The quality of life is improving, so happy that PA listened to their players, I heard also that they are planning to add the treasure items like infi pots into the CM. Huge update!
afaik, only the potions that are duplicated in each player account will be sellable. It's just to compensate those who farmed more than once.
I personally loved the stories and cutscenes. Maybe if you didnt skip every single line of dialog you could of enjoyed it
he wants to play a game not watch a movie.
@@thegoatmen7736 then do the other 99999hrs worth of content in the game rather than play the story focused content and complain about the story being too focused on
Or maybe they should allow people to skip everything coz its trash anyway. Personally l wont be touching this questline. I have better shit to do with my time. Atleast they give us an option to completely avoid this travesty.
I agree I'm just not going to do that content. Don't you get locked in that area if you start there? I'm assuming he didn't know it was going to be like that.
Starting to make me want to restart too. Good video my dude.
@@pvcvalley Lol, that's what Peon is doing. Your outrage is somewhat misplaced.
@@pvcvalley the irony of calling any game "tedium simulator" in a BDO video. BDO is the premiere afk fishing simulator fyi.
Ff14's story is too cringe and boring for people who don't enjoy Japanese super cliché storytelling and humor.
@@Scyths1 That may be your opinion, but it's also factually incorrect.
Great video, really enjoying playing the game again myself. Seems so mich better after their seperation with kakao
Spamming R from the start. You've never given the story a chance to begin with. Don't complain about it.
finally, hope you will stream some as well :)
Someone who mashes r and skips the entire story doesn't really get an opinion on the quality of said story, methinks. Bad take.
YES! Here we go again
Im sorry but BDO is so boring - the end
Welcome back to the loophole!
welcome back ma man. just came back myself a month ago kekw
Lesgo another life update video after a BDO vid 🎉🎉
I really love the fact they fixed the enhancement issue now I do not fear my gear breaking
I couldn't agree more. I came back to BDO recently and only play casually, no pressure at all.
Can you tell me how you played the game before than now?
Her eyes are like stars, not as beautiful but as far from each other...
welcomeback
You are the Obi Wan kenobi of MMOs, love it
Glad to see I'm not the only one who sat trying to name the horse 100x times until I actually read the text :)
I must say I’m extremely happy to see how healthy you look lazypeon! Keep it up!!!great work bud
Your videos are the best dude
When's the next Classic Hardcore episode coming, Mr. Peon? Absolutely love that series.
I’m enjoying it. Got back into it right before the hype actually.
HES BACK!!!! LETS GOO I JUST RETURNED AS WELL
Pearl Abyss deleted my original account so i had to buy it again so i could grab some pets and the Tier 9 Dream Horse and i got completely hooked.
@@CyberneticArgumentCreatorhmm good point as i am exactly confused on why there are a lot of stuff on the game UI as a returning player.
Hey I’m looking to get back to the game after a very long time. My account got deleted after kakao and pearl abyss went their seperate way( didn’t know this was happening).
What quest-line would you suggest?
Also will I get t9 horse as a new player?
I was honestly against playing this game a few years ago but now I can’t stop playing
