- Black Desert Online is a Buy To Play MMORPG that was officially launched in the west on 03/03/2016 and It's no secret that this is my most highly anticipated MMO of 2016, I played BDO on the Korean servers a while back and was blown away by the Action Combat gameplay, stunning open world, player housing and character customization, since then I've been waiting for the game to finally launch in the west to dive into the vast sandbox that is Black Desert.
In this video you follow me on my journey from level 1 to 50 (which is currently the soft cap) on my Sorceress, I guide you through my thought process when leveling and explain what's going on the best I can, I recorded over 22 hours worth of footage when making this video and it took a game long time to make so if you enjoyed it a like would help me a lot.

In this video I grind from level 1 to 50 in the sandbox MMORPG called Black Desert Online (BDO) on PC, I picked the sorceress class despite never playing one before and managed to learn how to play it without looking at a guide, I set up my nodes and workers, level up my cooking, fight some world bosses, decorate my player house and get to grips with the overall gameplay in BDO, I'm currently in a guild called "Leviathan" on Croxus EU who're battling with Nihilum for the servers top guild, unfortunately recruitment is closed.

This video is such a blast to watch. Throwback to the early days when XP was impossible to come by and your main carry weight concerns were the silver itself. It's crazy how much the game has changed but also how much it stays the same.
I've been waiting over 5 years for MMO with open world, after spending 10 years in Lineage 2 I wanna say BDO is awesome, this is modern L2 for me, I love there's no cap, gear balance like it happens since 5-6 years in games with instances and dungeons, MMO world have been missing game like BDO for years.

I played for 12 hours on end and was genuinely shocked when I realized what the time was.
Haven't felt this way since first Ragnarok Online private servers and Vanilla WoW was released, keep in mind I was a teen at the time, being introduced to my first MMO's.
+André Edwardsson If you rush it you won't have anything to do for the rest of the game, leveling is probably the best part (if not the only) of this MMO.
+Alex Deva Farming mobs is the only thing . Rest is "try and forget". Zero balance. And those cash shop prices.... In B2P game...

Peon, your videos are amazing. Lately in my so far very short life, I have really loved few things. In school when I've been asked what means the most to me I write down Hollywood Undead, Stray From The Path, and TheLazyPeon. And when people say "what the fuck is that" I tell them how your channel has helped me through some hard times. I've been clean from self harm for about a year now. During that time when I was temped to relapse I sat in my bed and watched your videos whether it was First Impressions or now your iron man challenge. I love you Peon. Never stop making videos. This is one of the games that I wish time was slower. I play on the EU server, Croxus. And everytime I play, it just feels like time just flies away. Like playing from 6 at night and on a snap of a finger, its already 12 midnight... literally.
I find the game really fun though and the skill effects looks really epic specially in High End Mode settings. And with Warrior, I can fulfil my Knight fantasies lmao Warrior ftw :)
I sure hope they manage the game well and won't easily f.up everything like how other Korean made MMO usually end up.
But ye, the attack effects, the environment in game and the open world is really good in max settings :D.
My first and second session both lasted over 20 hours.
After my first character reached lv. 50, I realised why people say this game takes ages...
Can barely play it in the lowest settings cuz my pc is sheit.color me jealous lmao
This game is so awesome. Got to level 20 on my Sorceress today. I'm that kind of player that explores, does quests and talk with all the people and do the grinding more when I feel like it. It's not big of a problem though when the combat is amazing. Keep up with the awesome videos Peon, can't wait to follow your adventure in BDO!

Everytime I see Black Desert video I go from "Wow that's amazing, I't the best game ever made since unmarried sex" to "Wow that seems pretty repetitive and boring, pretty much like married sex" and vice versa. Looking forward to try it out to see what kind of sex really is.

Mmos tend to be repetitive in nature, unfortunately BDOs repetition is of all the bad or time consuming aspects and most players over 1000 hours won't recommend the game for just the RNG aspects alone. You could grind for six months just for the game to say fuck you try again.

well 2019-05-28 and this game is still my main MMO and there is not many other games out there thats better.
What i don't understand Peon, is that you always complain about other MMO's having way too much grinding, and not enough other ways to earn xp, such as quests, challenges, dungeons, etc. Yet here, you're 24/7 grinding. Can you actually hit levelcap from just doing these other things, or is grinding a must?
+Task You can't which is my main issue with the game, it's pure grinding to level, however the combat is so good in this game that it's bearable, quests and stuff are also really important to do but not for exp, playing casually I like to grind for an hour, quest for an hour, fish and make money as well as manage my workers at the same time, there's enough to do to break up the grind as long as you pace yourself, in this video I didn't pace myself.
This game has a few issues but those issues are far outweighed by the positives imo
TheLazyPeon Alright i was just curious. At first, i thought you were grinding just to try and level faster, and keep up with your guild, but i can see how you would find it tolerable. Might pick this up whilst waiting for Legion, who knows. Keep up the great content Craig :)
+Task The game is a grindfest, unless the devs changed it from the previous betas and the quests now do give a ton xp which I doubt. And 50 is a "soft" cap, you can still go farther than that, but level 51 will take you almost as long as the entire 1 to 50 road took you. And you guessed it - you will have to grind it all up.
P.S. crafting etc does give you xp but it would take too long to level up just through that.
Idolismo oh wow. That's an interesting concept. What are the benefits of going past softcap? can you link me somewhere?
Task Well you'd have to grind for the stones anyways unless you want to spend a ton of money on the auction house (the upgrade stones that is). The benefits are - more stones = more + on your gear, more money, and a level 55 can destroy a level 50. Oh and skillpoints of course.

Cheers dude was an interesting look, defiantly seems VERY different but that's not always a bad thing. Oh forgot to say congrats on your soft cap, even after watching the vid I still think the long bear pic applies ;)
A little tip for players with low weight limit, so 1st get an controller connect it to your pc for Bdo. 2nd go do a job that let you carry a package, but dont finish the job just go to a empty room , and get a rubber ban on your controller make sure its going left or right, so your char will move on their own in a corner. lastly leave it over night, and you can gain a lot of weight points, so you can carry more stuff and gain stam for you archer its legit i did it on kr. hope this help :D

+Razeel If you think that WoW isnt open world, then you have a little too much expectations from mmos in general. The world in WoW itself is a seamless open world, but the dungeons arent, like 99% of all the other mmos out there. "Surprise". I don't think that the loading screens to dungeons can break your immersion, but if every "zone" or "area" in the world has a loading screen, then I can see that.

Just started BDO a couple of weeks ago...I LOVE this game. I like that I can play my own style at my own pace. Im more of a pve kind of guy and I really love the lifeskill system.

Grats on actually going through with taming the horse! It's great to get into a game that you truly enjoy and do so much grinding. 14H is pretty standard in this case IMO. My max is 32H in WoW. Not healthy at all, but it had to be done. :) I hope you haven't abandoned Tera. Especially with the new update that just came out.

I haven't played a lot of Black Desert as of yet but can I just say the optamisation is just perfect. Seriously My mid range system still runs it at 60 albeit with lowered graphics but I expect that. I love how it's just acessible to me unlike many triple A games nowa days
