  • Whether you're stabbing firewood, fighting zombies, or getting that pulled pork out from between your teeth, a hookaroon/pickaroon can be quite handy.
    Use at your own risk. They are known to fly from your hands when missing a target...

      I had never heard of a hookaroon until a few weeks ago. It might be handy. It might not... but we got to have some fun making it, right? Thanks for watching!

      I may need to sharpen it a little. It doesn't like to stab and hold the center of walnut very easily. BUT I'm sure it will work with softer woods...

    Hello Logan. I made a pickaroon yesterday from a cheap hatchet, it works great. I made another this morning, it works terribly. I am guessing the point geometry is very important. I am going to try one like yours next. Thanks, Ben

    • @keen9629
      @keen9629 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      When you drill a hole all the way through, put a carriage bolt 4 inches long which now becomes the pick part and method for securing it. First grind down the corners and when in place weld it solid.

    Now that you’ve had it for some time how has it held up? What would you change if you did it over?

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I'm at a place in my age and strength that it's faster to just bend down and grab the wood, so I don't use it as much as I thought I would. In a few years, I may be using it more and more. It has held up well, but I think a narrower tip may be a little easier to plunge into the pieces of wood and pick them up. I was just afraid it would break easier without being tempered correctly like a pro pickaroon.

  • @khtractors
    @khtractors 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A flap disc on an angle grinder works great for shaving down wood. Is it Sam the Eagle you were trying to think of? Poor Chickens, you scared them to death. Nice job!

      I have several times lately that I have more comments numbered on a video than I actually have comments shown (that I can like or respond to). I don't know if this is a glitch, an accident, or some kind of algorithm that is screening comments with some kind of automatic trigger...? But thank you for commenting and watching. Any stabby thing would probably work as long as it extends your reach. Soooo... what are you going to make?

    Hookaroon, pickaroon, stickaroon ,nickaroon,.......nickaroon????. Doesn't matter how you say it, it is still a neat tool. Just got to watch your legs. The ducks love it. Maybe you could use it to pick them up.
