      Stop the war on drugs! All the money saved on the war can go to create free rehabilitation centers and education. There is no need to lie to a generation like the Regan administration, tell them the truth about drugs - why some people become addicts while others do not, why it is important not to put drug users down, why using drugs will only mask the problem and will only work for a period of time.
      The war on drugs has killed millions and divided millions more. It was flawed right from the start. You CANNOT tell another human being what they can and cannot put in their bodies, but you can be there for help them when they eventually fall
      Yes, that means we decriminalize the hard drugs,too ( heroin, etc.) When the government takes over the sales of these drugs, there will no longer be the impurities in these drugs, which is what is doing the majority of the killing. Yes, you still have to put an age restriction on the sales of these drug, but that is all you can do. You have to let human beings make their own choices when it comes to putting substances into their own bodies.

      I guess it is different for everyone. I have a condition that gets worse every now are then and I have been talking opioids for 2-3 months at the time ( this last time I am going through right now is already lasts for 5 months) but after my pain is under control I don’t have a need in opioids anymore. I am more addicted to not feeling pain then to the actual pills. I have a different experience with weed though, which I have a hard time to stop using but I still do mostly maintain the control over my marijuana addiction I guess 🤷‍♀️

It was really hard for me to give up nitrous oxide. It's like buying a box set. I have to finish the whole box as the hallucinations keep ending on cliff hangers.
      Though some hallucinogens can somehow work against addiction as they work on different areas of the brain. I remember reading a story about a heroin addict who used iboagne because he wanted to get high, but he came down from the trip and left his addiction behind him. Psilocybin has also been shown to help people give up smoking.

      Facts! Also, one of the hardest things is when people who have never suffered with addiction say things like “ oh why don’t you just not do it”, 😩 if I could just not do it do you think I’d be in the same position? No. I would be clean and sober like I’ve been trying to do for the past 7 years of my adult life. I find addicts are some of the most empathetic and kind people behind the addiction, the way addiction throws my morals away for a moment then I still have to deal with the consequences of my actions afterwards because I beat myself up keeps me in a loop and it’s so frustrating, my substance of choice is the same as yours and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Keep it up 👍.

It's their choice to start doing drugs but what else can they do when no one gives them any other chances to deal with their problems in the right way.

    • @sleepymaddy7659
      @sleepymaddy7659 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sarah Kelley wow. That's your opinion but I think that's a bit cold...he doesn't want help and why? Because he's addicted. Most people get addicted by something because they have problems they want to wash away and in a lot of situations, drugs seem like the only way out. You can force him into a mental hospital, a few people realise with this that they need help and are thankful in the end but some would be just angry. I was never addicted but I never accepted help with my mental illness and had to realise by myself that I won't come far if I don't work on it. It's not a happy topic but I would recommend to offer him help. Maybe just tell him "I'm always here for you" or call a 'help hotline' for people who don't know how to deal with people who abuse drugs. These people can help you and tell you what to do.
      Don't blame it on the person, blame it on the world for not educating people enough about drugs so they try more to avoid them.

      soilgrasswaterair no I fully agree it is an addiction. And there is many things people can be addicted to besides drugs and eating disorders. Cutting, exercising, sex ext. They are all addiction even though it isn’t drugs, but they are also all different from each other and their addictions are all treated differently and recovery is different ext. I just feel a drug addict doesn’t really understand what it’s like to be a food addict and a food addict doesn’t really know what it’s like to be a drug addict. I’m not saying it’s not an addiction just that it would have been better to put him in either a group with other people who have food addictions that could better related to him, or they should have had a different addiction for each person instead of all drug addicts with one food addict.

    • @lunarlovegoodx3
      @lunarlovegoodx3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@soilgrasswaterair It is very different. I have so many loved ones who have dealt with or are dealing with addiction. A lot of addiction is just.. Personality. That fucked up bad hand you were dealt, upbringing, etc. give you an addictive personality. And it begins at a young age. Maybe they go through a sex addiction. Dabble in drug addiction. Eventually find a socially acceptable addiction. But say that person replaces their drug addiction with a video game addiction. The patterns and behaviors are still there. But one is a chemical dependency. So it is different. My point is some addicts will latch onto anything- even relatively healthy things. But as bad as it is it isnt deadly ya know. Even a non-addict can get addicted to heroin.

    • @yoyoyo5621
      @yoyoyo5621 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lunarlovegoodx3 what you're saying is so true. I sort of had that experience where I just go to different things with addictive behaviour. I grew up with a lot of misery so I'd constantly need something to escape. Like it'd be work. then it begins to feel not enough. so then I switch to sex. or even exercising. then it's not enough. so then I'd start drinking. Like it's literally latching on to anything. Drugs I purposely stayed away from because it felt too dangerous and I met people too who were too fucked up on it and i vaguely knew i had addictive personality. I thought I was playing it safe by using other means of addiction that seemed relatively healthy. Like I thought I was so smart and above it all. Even then it was a downward spiral because you start to put yourself into increasingly risky situations and it gets really destructive and dangerous and your mental health gets thrown into garbage. But it is definitely easier to come back from that kind of addictions than drugs cuz you have other parts of your life mostly intact and things are more recoverable. Drugs are really deadly and they work so much faster at killing you literally

      I've seen many ppl come out of a dangerous addiction into non sobriety living with just casual drinking or smoking weed. I've seen way more ppl try this and fail because they either relapse eventually or alcohol/weed becomes the drug to fuel the addiction. So ya I think she's in a dangerous situation since she's clean from everything but alcohol but it's not impossible for her to be safe and mature about it. I don't think its denial but her road ahead of her most likely is going to either be weening off all substance use eventually or going back to harder drugs. She said her fav drugs are hallucinogens so idk why she doesn't do shrooms and go into the trip trying to look over herself and her addiction. A LOT of ppl find a shrooms/lsd/dmt trip once they commit to being sober or just want to be sober ends up helping them understand themselves and their addiction so much more. most don't go back for substances after. I'm even more surprised that she would continue to be an addict when hallucinogens usually promote healthy living unless u abuse them significantly and go into a psychosis or bad thought patterns.

If the person is actively using, one can say “struggling with addiction” or “in active use”, although I do know many people that do not mind the term “addict”. PWUD or People who use drugs is also a pretty common term within the recovery community. The term “junkie” is really stigmatizing and has been used as a slur, I’ve been clean multiple years and still have had that word thrown in my face to say I’m worthless. I hope this helps.

    As a guy with a coke addiction, the food guy is really frustrating to me.
    Mental health issue and drug addiction are drastically different issues and he got so much talking time that it watered down this episode dramatically.

      Zach Bozman metal health issues and drug addiction aren’t drastically different at all they go hand and hand you take something because feeling sober doesn’t make you feel the way you want

      Zach Bozman opiate addict in recovery here and I 100% agree. I was excited when I clicked on this video because I thought I was going to hear from people like me but majority of it was someone talking about something I do not relate too. Not to mention he doesn’t have the same experience as a drug addict but still felt the need to answer drug specific questions

      Mental health issues and drug addiction are drastically different? Only someone with absolutely no understanding of what addiction or human psychology is, could say this. Addiction isn't just a physiological dependency on a substance. There are several environmental, and thus psychological factors (due to environment affecting brain's response) that influence addiction in multiple ways. Mental health is a healthy state of a person's psychology, meaning, a person should be social, productive in their community, responsible, abstinent from self-harmful behaviors or behaviors that harm other being, etc... Addiction IS a mental health issue. And the two are very much connected. And also, food action is an actual addiction. Same basic mechanism, thus it's an addiction.

    Morgan reminded me a lot of Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.
