I stayed at the Bow View Lodge, Irwin's Mountain Inn, The Fox Hotel, Red Carpet Inn, Banff Ptarmigan Inn, Rundlestone Lodge, and The Dorothy Motel.
I'll have to go back and check out the other hotels/motels/Inns that Banff offers but this is a good start if you are on a budget and don't want to spend over ~$250 a night for a hotel.

In my experience, especially in this type of small resort towns, very often the hotels on the outskirts usually offer more in the way of amenities, pricing etc... to make up for the further away location. But really, what are we talking about here...an extra 10 min walking? The town centre locations are usually more expensive, smaller, fewer amenities. It appears your experience mirrored my own. Bow View would have been my #1.

Thanks for sharing. I agree the hotels on the outskirts are usually better priced and have more amenities and larger rooms. The walk is yeah less than 10 minutes usually and if you take a bus then less than 5 minutes.
Bow view could have been my number one but, I loved the heated floors so much in the Dorothy so I think that's what pushed it over the edge for me personally.
