    Great stuff, thanks. I actually have risked a one night booking through super, risking the sms spam. None has materialized so far. Also they were proactive when the hotel I booked at closed, offering me a refund or a move to another hotel. Though they haven't sent me a voucher and are not replying to my emails... But the new hotel confirms it has my booking. We'll see next month what happens. So, for now, I rate them as "iffy reviews, suspicious, but maybe worth a punt if they're cheap and you've got a plan B if it all goes pear-shaped?".

      Thanks for trying out super and sharing this insight - interested to hear if all goes well with your stay next month.

      @@DavidGTravels Here's the follow up: Fronted up to the hotel and all was well. They knew who I was and all was paid for. HOWEVER, a call to super the week before showed that they had no record at all of having moved me, thinking I was was still at the closed hotel, and the only voucher they had a record of was for that. After an hour on the phone with the agent he gave up and said he was creating a ticket for the back office who would contact me within 45 minutes. And that was the last I hear of them.
      My conclusion: they're not scammers, they are proactive at dealing with problems that come to their attention, but they are so disorganized that I wouldn't want to have to depend on them to fix an issue at the end of the long journey. Would I use them again? Only if they were offering an absolute bargain. And then I'd make sure I had a plan B in my back pocket.

    Good video. I have gotten good prices doing something similar except the room I get is the sh_ttiest in the building. Bad wifi, hard bed and noisy room. How can we make sure we are getting decent room??

      Thanks! Something similar to which example? You can always ask for what you want at a hotel, I always do at least.

      I go to the hotels website and find a good deal, too go to be true. The room sucks =, hard bed, lousy wifi and noisy. How does someone get a deal and a decent room at the same time?

      I touch on this in many of my videos. Status can be useful for chains, asking for what you want/need is always a good idea.

    You get the best price when you only book for 1 night and then go directly to the hotel where you want to check-in. Discounts are biggest then, often 30-50% off of what any hotel booking websites would charge.

    • @DavidGTravels
      @DavidGTravels  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The idea here can work sometimes though the discount is likely to be much less than 30 to 50%. But it could also get you stuck without a place to sty, or with much higher rates than if you’d booked before. Instead of having all of that uncertainty, you can always contact a hotel directly and ask if they can do anything with the price, but there is absolutely no guarantee that it will work and it’s almost sure not to work for chain hotels.

      Hey, that's my trick too!

    • @TwardyHanys
      @TwardyHanys หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not the opposite? Official rates per night in the reception are higher than on reservation pages and hotel might be fully booked

    • @joepaluka9031
      @joepaluka9031 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TwardyHanys good question. My experience is you never oay reception rate on hotel if you have a alternative accommodation. Eg. Go to hotel say you booked another hotel but it's not the best. Tell them that you are looking for a deal. Some countries do the deal, eg Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam. Some countries may not do the deal eg philippines Japan Korea
