That little whiteboard presentation is the perfect remedy for fears and hesitation. A blank page can be intimidating, yes, but it's also full of possibilities, and there's always a next page... until you've filled the sketchbook! It's amazing that today we have artists like Jess sharing this kind of information freely! Not all of us are yet achieving the type of skill and sophistication that we see here, but Jess Karp is a professional in the early prime of her career, so it's important to look at her sketchbook as an inspirational goal and realize what it took for her to get where she is, and what it takes to maintain those skills. Never have I ever started a sketch book. I've been thinking about it in the last few days, and after watching your video think it's the right time to do it...thank you for making me think more positively about embarking on my sketchbook journey. It doesn't matter what I draw, paint or airbrush, it only matters that I enjoy it. So have fun kids!

Jess, almost all of your first pages are the ones i love the most, because they give me the most amazingly motivational and chill pages. And i think this one is my second favorite because it's so beautiful, well my first is the road you did for your first page.

Hi! So Nice to meet you! I'm having trouble sleeping & at 3:30 a.m. decided to stop fighting it & find a sketch video to watch & yours came up. You are a very lovely young Lady! I've loved the 2 of your videos that I've watched so far. I never really sketched before but about 3 yrs ago decided to see if I could, then set it aside just picking it up here & there. I've only done bits & pieces but I'm enjoying it so much so far. I have a surgery coming so I'll be taking more time to sketch & in the mean time see more of ourr videos. I'm Linda, almost 65 yrs next week. I'm a widowed Mom of 2 plus the spouses & Gramma of 7. I look after one regularly & she has been my biggest & cutest inspiration. I never thought to post anything let alone on instagram but maybe I should try. I just hope I do it right! Lol! I'm still learning electronics too. Yikes! Thank you for sharing your talent! The first page of a sketchbook doesn’t bring me fear. It brings me joy I love the first page, and I love to finish the last pages and to look at my staple of finished sketchbooks in my cupboard. Sometimes I miss the times where I painted more. At the moment with my family and my little child I have no time and it makes me sad.

@@artofjesskarp Oh yes! I bought the bigger hardcover too. Its fine but it didn't really have that magic i noticed with that one.
I judge sketchbooks once I look back at them and see how inspired I felt to use them. I can feel all of the feelings and remember a lot my thought process. I just hate that this one has went up in price so much since last year 😪

Very inspiring! I just started art journaling in January '23 too. I'm obviously a newbie after watching a few of your videos. My sketchbook & art materials are not high quality like the ones you have but at least I got started. I'll invest on these better quality materials once I get the hang of art journaling.

Im always left mesmerized with all you do! I cant help to wonder where i would be if i had had these videos when i was younger. Ive started implementing a lot of your tips and techniques into my art and its really helped with art block and staying consistent, well as much as I can with my two kids. I cant always do my art at the momment I choose but thats the beauty of life, we are all in different situations and have different perspectives!!
