You spray plants with water before washing the customers roof, and rinse can be optional depending on what chemicals you use, and whether or not it’s supposed to rain
@@reubenfedereryeah but I just did a house with leaf hairs and it ran off and burned up some plants. I messaged Spencer but haven’t heard from him. I think I just need a hotter mix
I feel like you could be charging more and might be leaving a bit of money on the table. I built the spencer tank and its been doing great for me, I even do house washes with it! 2% won't do much against lichen but I dont see you deal with lichen really. I do 30-40 cents sq. ft. for roof cleaning. When measuring don't forget the pitch multiplier
Hi Hunter, I was just watching you wash this roof and I remembered that I have a McKillans foam canon I use for applying soap to our vehicles when we wash them. These things create an incredible amount of foam. I was wondering if you have tried one of these on the roof? You could forego using the canister, or maybe place the laundry detergent in the canister. I suspect it would create an amazing amount of foam for maximum penetration and possibly better product application control. Any thoughts?
Does your sodium percarbonate mix well with cold water? I am having issues with the one I use not mixing well. It’s hard to do mix hot water in the field. What do you do?
I have been following Spencer for a while as I learn how to remove moss from my very steep roof and have wondered the same thing. In my research I see an ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association) article title "Algae & Moss Prevention and Cleaning for Asphalt Roofing Systems" which advises to allow the cleaning solution to dwell on the roof for just 15-20 minutes, and before it dries to then THOROUGHLY rinse the roof off after soft-washing a roof, otherwise it will quickly age and deteriorates the shingles. I've seen this same advice on numerous roof professionals' websites. In fact, I have never seen anyone else instruct to NOT rinse a roof after applying a water/bleach mixture.

Do home owner asks if you are licensed and insured if so can you fo a video on that if you font have that. I have been having a hard time getting insurance for roof cleaning.
I had a question. You probably get asked this a lot. Is this a good year-around business? Since you live in the PNW do you get work during the rainy and winter seasons?
Just use a hose if the costumer really want that or comment about it. Just the blower is totally fine, but always get the maximum you can with the hand, less mess > easy clean. you always need clean everything at the floor, because its the first thing they see when they come home and just after that they see the gutters
Right on brother. Appreciate your videos and what you do! If you don't mind me asking.....What size hose are you using for spraying the soft wash mixture? I'm using a 1/2 air hose, going to a pressure wash gun (trying to get an adapter to switch it to a garden hose nozzle), power by a 5.5 gpm pump. My flow sucks and it is taking me FOREVER to coat a roof. Your flow is killing it and I believe we are using the exact same pump! A REPLY WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED! THANK YOU!!😎
I've got the 5.5gpm pump too. Air hose is for air compressors... Buy the Zero-G 5/8" 100ft hose and I just use a normal garden sprayer. I even use a motorcycle sized deep cycle battery and it lasts plenty of time.
@@WickedCleanHomes Sounds like a plan! Thank you. I got that hose because I've seen several people use it. It works, but I think the diameter is just too restrictive. I'm getting 3.2gpm out of the gun through 150ft of hose. I'll have to try your setup. Time is money. Appreciated!👍👍

That’s not really a thing anymore. All modern batteries cases are made from plastic which isolates the plates and also the plates don’t go to the bottom of the case anymore. Many many years ago when the cases were made of wood and glass that was an issue not anymore.

I like how dude keeps it simple. Lot of guys make it too technical needlessly
Do you ever rinse? How do you help control run off? What steps do you take to protect vegetation?
My question as well. I’ve thought about using the green ox chemical that claims it doesn’t harm vegetation
I mean there’s literally a thing called gutters…

How come you don’t rinse after? Does it not damage the roof/house/whatever you are soft washing if the chemicals are left on? Love the vids bro!

How do you know what chemicals are safe to use and rules about water runoff?
Where do you get the stuff you used in this video? What’s the dilution
Where do you buy your sodium hyperchloride? What company?

Little road salt hand crank for your moss powder.

When doing a generic gutter cleaning, do you recommend rinsing them out with a hose or just leaf blow it out?
Just a leaf blow is fine, you can usually tell when its clogged and need to clean out a downspout
Just use a hose if the costumer really want that or comment about it.

does anyone have a contract for the customer to sign just in case the roof leaks or something happens that way we are not liable?
Not a bad idea I suppose but I’ve never had an issue

Laundry detergent has emulsifiers in it that break down the granules on the shingles...... Just saying
Isn't bad to leave the bleach without rinsing it?
Nah it’s fine

If you put 5 gallons of 12.5% in a 25.75 gallon tank you will have 2.43%!
4 gallons ... 1.94%
6 gallons ... 2.91%
