Hey man love your videos there’s one technique I use for the downspouts I put contractor bags to collect the chemicals then dump it out to the street to prevent damage to grass or plants
You my friend have earned a subscriber. When I watch your videos I compare it to all the other videos and I see I am learning from a true professional.
Great video, you have one of the most thorough explanations of the process on TH-cam. Love your trailer, we are really considering getting into this industry
Same for me I'm starting a new company myself this is just something for the side that I can get my son interested in to do something during the summer when he's out of college maybe take it over one day and do it for himself and make a decent living
Chad Cooper I've thought about doing on the side as well. My concern is that I'm from the Midwest and will only be able to do it 7-8 month out of the year. Have you been making money if you don't mind me asking?
@@geoff8865 Roof cleaning does slow down during the cooler months, but you can still fill the gaps with house washing and flatwork. You just need to do some marketing campaigns to get your company name out so people know you're available. Do EDDM in the same neighborhood a couple of times a year, and also hit multiple neighborhoods. Like this video said, a well made flyer will land in someone's drawer and when they need you, they will have you on hand and give you a call. Branch out and look for parking decks or gas stations to clean as well. If you have the proper degreasers and good pressure washers (8 GPM or even two 8 GPM combined) you can get fair business cleaning these commercial areas. Get some professional training from SoftWash Systems in Florida though. There are many laws and things to be aware of when working on commercial properties that very seldom pop up in residential cleaning.
I usually bag the downspouts for the initial roof wash application. Then hook the drainage back up and rinse thoroughly. Have had no plant damage. I take the runoff and use it to kill weeds and junk from growing on gravel driveways.
www.panoramicclean.com/gallery.html I have several before/after photos here. Although looking at them, I need to replace the last one. It was a house wash only when I took those photos, but I just went back and cleaned that roof about 2 weeks ago so they could take photos to post online to sell their house. They had 3 people schedule viewings in the first 45 minutes after it went online. People drastically under-value how much more attractive a house is when it is for sale and the subliminal effect a clean roof has versus a dirty roof. Almost every roof I clean for someone putting their house on the market has sold very quickly. It's nothing magic about me, it is just people do not understand how much benefit a clean roof is when it comes to selling a house.
7:30 when you mention the masks, I was a hazmat consultant for a few years. Was my job to have the proper gear. For SH and any oxalic acid you’ll be spraying for oxidation - You want a half mask APR respirator with yellow banded combination HEPA filters. They’re pink and have a yellow band around the base. 3M or Honeywell are the most common where I’m at
William Grim great business, got my certification. So much money. Suggestion for soaps. Green wash, terra wash, and final wash, ( bleach neutralizer) cleans windows great. Also invest in plant wash. It's a neutralizer and plant fertilizer. Use after every job on all plants
Love the rig on the truck. Seems simple and efficient. Do you have a general idea of what a setup like this would cost? I have a pickup and thinking this may be the better option for me vs a trailer. Thanks for all the helpful videos and great advice!
I have to give you props on the video, Southeast Southwash! That was very well done, very informative, and alot of little IMPORTANT details. Friday i will actually be doing my first roof job (shingle), after being in this field of work for 5+ yrs now. Idk how its just now coming about but, is what it is. Lol Appreciate all the info, and overall help you have just given. 🤝🏻
6:40 this is crucial. I’ve had customers ask me after a job if I do window cleaning too. That was the most common one. Once I started suggesting it during wash walk throughs I started converting easily 50%+ 😊more customers
I’m a roofing contractor and bought the Little Giant Hyperlite Sumostance extension ladder. It is by far the best investment I’ve made in safety. There are outriggers that not only level the ladder on any terrain but also widens the base by about 3-4’. It is expensive, but you only cry once. Trust me it’s worth it.
Looked it up. Seems like an amazing ladder. You said you only cry once…. Does it matter how long?? That thing is expensive! 😂😂 and idea if a stabilizer could be added to the top?? Looks like it wouldn’t be necessary
@@mid-southsoftwashllc haha yeah it’s expensive but it’s been a life saver for the past year that I’ve used it. No need for a stand-off at the top unless you want one to stay off the gutters. The fact that you can set this ladder up in locations that you couldn’t set others in has saved me a lot of time. I just know it’ll fit wherever I need it and it’ll be stable. I will say this tho… that ladder creaks like hell! Very noisy as you climb up. It’s the sound of the fiberglass flexing. Not like it’ll break, but sure sounds like it. That’s my only negative against it. I really wish there was an aluminum version of it. I actually bought two other little giants. The King Kombo 8’-17’ A frame / extension and the 6’ - 10’ version. Both are super useful, lightweight and have a wider stance. Definitely recommend those.
@@jasonsmithroofing man that would definitely scare me a little! Lol. As expensive as it is, I would think it would be one of the most stable and secure ladders in the market. You don’t get creaking when using other fiberglass ladders. Is it super light like they say?
@@mid-southsoftwashllc it’s light for what it is…I guess. Supposedly 65 lbs for the 28’ I think. Still a beast to move around if you need to navigate around trees and such. But yeah the thinner fiberglass makes it a lot more flexible.
Ladder stand-off arms will stabilize the ladder - making it safer, and at the same time decrease the chances of marks or dents on the homes gutters. *Little tip from a pro in Canada
I always see people putting ladders against the gutters. I have always used the stabilizer so I don’t do any damage. Plus I’ve seen some gutters that are barley even attached because the wood behind is rotted
I've worked for softwash platoon out of Chester Pennsylvania, got my certification in Florida, used a lot of equipment from softwash systems, kinda pricey. Currently work for Pennwash out of west chester. 4 years been softwashing , couldn't ask for a better career
Ron Mckeefrey are you the owner of the business? If so is it profitable? I've been thinking about starting something like this on the side around here.
Geoff Armstrong I’m not the owner but I’ve watched that company go from 1 pickup truck with the skid, and whole set up to 5 trucks, box trucks are the way to go. So much easier type in on here softwash platoon on TH-cam and check out that box truck, that’s the ACTUAL truck that I used
I work as a Paramedic, also have my own mowing/landscaping service. On the ambulance we know when people are power washing, get a few "fell from the ladder calls". I had one yesterday, guy was fine with some scratches. Now you got me thinking that doing power washing may be a service to add.
For a new house washing business, what is the recommendation for starting the process of different mixes? Your truck setup allows you to alter the proportions on the go, but what should someone do without that full system in place? Switching between vinyl, brick, shingles, and concrete would mean having a lot of different premade mixes in gallon buckets, right? Or, is there a smarter way to have the mixes for a beginner who doesn't want to appear like they are struggling?
Just mix up enough for the job, don’t just fill up your tank all the way cuz if you only use half of it and your next job is going to need a completely diff mix then your kind of screwed and now have to waste the rest of your tank recoating your first job just to get rid of it or just using the wrong mix on your next job and hoping for the best. You will eventually learn how quick your tank drains out and you will be able to make good judgment but for now just mix up 1/4 of your tank size, yeah sure it’s a bit of a hassle but it is what it is homie
I have honestly been buying up the material I need to set up my soft wash trailer. Working my job and then putting money towards my build. It takes time but once it’s built then you’re all set to go and run with it! If it doesn’t do as well for you and your set up actually works then you can easily sell it for a higher price than it cost to build it because you put the time into building it
What a great video. Explained every step so well and talking about your experiences really helped me to keep those things in mind when I get into this business. Thanks so much. New subscriber for sure
Just a question about your wand. What is it made of? Did you make it or buy it? If bought from where and is there a link? If built, what parts did you use? Thanks in advance.

Get some training from SoftWash Systems in Florida. They have chemicals that are bleach safe and work well. About the only time I rinse a roof is if there are no gutters and there are plants in the drip line. Otherwise mother nature does a MUCH better job rinsing because she hits the plants and ground all at the same time. If I have sensitive plants around a downspout I may put a gutter cane into the gutter and rinse the lower 4-6 feet, so when it rains next, there won't be enough leftover salt from the bleach to harm the plants because buy the time the salt reaches the gutters, there is plenty of water already going down the downspout and flushing the salt away far and wide. Otherwise, it makes no sense to rinse a roof. When you spray weed killer on your lawn, do you come back and rinse the herbicide off the plant? No, you leave it on for maximum effect. After the initial cleaning, when the dew falls that night, it will reactivate the bleach at a concentrated amount and do a follow up treatment. I've done this 8 years now and never killed a plant, so it works.

I grabbed one from Walmart but it leaks water and the fan pattern only goes from 0 to about 25 degrees...it may be a faulty one because in this video the fan pattern looks alot wider..maybe I will try another one just to make sure but I love the soap tip for pressure washer nozzles at 60 degrees covers alot of square footage with one pass..
The wand you are pre wetting with is it running from your pump or is it the pressure from the house? Didn’t know if it’s ran from your truck or house? Looks like it’s got good pressure...
I saw in another video that he just applies the chemical and lets rain rinse it off on most cases. He said there are some cases when he does rinse and gave a link to a video to show when he does that, but I didnt see it yet.
What did you do to rinse the roof. Did you just use your rinse hose for it? If you were doing from the ground/ladder, how would you make sure your sprayer far for rinsing.

So do you make a database on your PC or laptop of the pictures before and after for each property? Or do you simply snap photos of the potential damaged plants etc before hand and send a text to owner, then delete.

David Weatherford Home Depot. They are on the pressure wash aisle
Thanks man, I appreciate it 👍
FYI, not sure how much at Home Depot but they had them at my local Walmart for $6.87. Thanks again 👍
David Weatherford yep. I’ll grab them at Walmart too if I’m in there
I grabbed one from Walmart but it leaks water and the fan pattern only goes from 0 to about 25 degrees...it may be a faulty one because in this video the fan pattern looks alot wider..maybe I will try another one just to make sure but I love the soap tip for pressure washer nozzles at 60 degrees covers alot of square footage with one pass..
How can I get that setup you have. Hose n such. Greatly appreciate it
The wand you are pre wetting with is it running from your pump or is it the pressure from the house? Didn’t know if it’s ran from your truck or house? Looks like it’s got good pressure...
Did you rinse the roof when finished

What did you do to rinse the roof. Did you just use your rinse hose for it? If you were doing from the ground/ladder, how would you make sure your sprayer far for rinsing.
