    As a vegan I got an X-ray and the doctor said he could see my arteries in the image - calcium oxalate. I had major kidney issues and many other symptoms. The oxalate story is real. Many vegans will never know because they will never stop the accumulation of them.

      After switching to seasonal carnivore with intermittent fasting there is no sign of arterial calcification

      I was strict vegan for 15 years and went for ultrasound, just part of a routine test and the nurse mentioned I had gallstones.

      Great insight. I wonder if essential oil affects oxalate levels?

    I started carnivore 2 yrs ago without ever hearing the term oxalates. I had unknowingly been eating a high oxalate diet for 22 years. Oxalate dumping hit me by surprise 6 weeks in. And it still comes and goes, although nit nearly as intense now. Sally Norton helped me a lot to understand what was going on.

    • @CoachStephen

      Hopefully you'll be clear of them soon. Thanks for the comment

      So how do they hit? People say oxalate dumping, but what are symptoms?

    • @jayhoggard92

      Watch Sally Norton s videos. It can present in many ways. For me it was joint and bone pain in my legs.

      @@OttawaRealEstateAgentMy first symptom, 4 days into carnivore, was excruciatingly painful diarrhea and urination. It felt like shards of glass going through my gut and passing out. I was on fire, or so it felt. Horrible cramping. I added a couple of pieces of fruit a day to slow it down. I felt better, so after 2 1/2 months I gave up one piece of fruit, then the other, a couple of weeks later. A week later my arthritis flared. It hurt 10 times worse than normal. My “good left knee,” suddenly became a lot worse than my “bad” right knee. I couldn’t go upstairs and could hardly walk. I’m now trying to figure out what to do. Now I know why eating a mostly vegan diet made me feel worse, as I had tried to eat “healthy” for years. Little did I know, I was hurting myself!

    "so if you think you're dying, and you need to have your elbow cut off, that could be a sign that you're clearing oxalates!' 😂😂😂. I adore Sally's sense of humor!
    Great interview guys! As someone who has had the honor of interviewing Sally myself it's always a delight to see others folks interview her to help her spread the word and also see what those interviewers are able to coax out of her vast stores of knowledge! I
    This topic is highly personal to me. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 38 years old which is just wrong as a man. In 2012 at 48 years old a slow speed crash on my mountain bike turned into quadripelegia. Some of my cervical vertebras crumbled. I unfortunately am a sad story of what a high oxalate diet can do. If you're new to this information please take it seriously I ruined my life thinking I was eating "healthy."😢😢😢

    I am 76 years old, having no medications. But I eat fish & chicken, & some plant based food ,no dairy. I still won’t get rid of plant food. For me eating in moderation is important. You know what you feel after you eat. Just submit for periodic blood test. You can eliminate foods that make you sick. I don’t take suppliment medication. Plant foods are still important for the body.

    • @CoachStephen
      @CoachStephen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the comment. Blood tests are inaccurate to tell you about either food allergies or intolerance. I myself have been told that I don't tolerate beef (I thrive on it) and I'm not allergic to cats or cod (hospitalised twice due to allergy reactions) Plants offer nothing. But I appreciate your taking time to communicate

    Did I hear this right that vitamin c will increase oxalates in the body? Or adding a Vit C supplement will increase oxalates? I enjoy 6 ounces of OJ about 3 mornings a week. Is this a concern for excess oxalates?

    I’ve been vegetarian and vegan for most of my life and tried keto for a while, which i love, but meat is out of the question for me, sadly; I have always had a good sense of what is and isn’t healthy for me (like refined carbs such as white bread but also milk, not all dairy per se, lower in lactose like cheese and yogurt seem fine) especially in large quantaties (spinach, cashews, kiwis, chocolate), so i typically organically seek out the lesser oxalated greens and herbs like broccoli, banana, cumin, cinnamon.. Would you say it is possible to maintain a vegan or vegetarian - preferably low carb - diet that is also low oxalate? Meaning I feel that I don’t need a very high caloric intake anyway; So I wonder if that would theoretically and hopefully practically be possible..

    • @asdf1991asdf

      Dont want to tell you what to do and respect your stance but I strongly believe you need to very seriously consider eating meat. Is it for ethical reasons ? There is nothing wrong with eating animals

    • @CoachStephen
      @CoachStephen  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Tough one to answer via comments. Have you considered fish and fowl as a way forward. Salmon, mackerel, sea-bass, oysters, scallops, turkey, duck, goose etc? I think it's good to be intuitive though. Carnivore is not all about red meat. That's just one way to do it.

      She mentioned sipping on beetroot juice when you are having having an oxalate dumping episode to slow down the dumping. That is because you need to consume some oxalates to tell the body to slow down (basically telling the body it's not winter yet). But in general beetroot and beet greens are extremely high in oxalates

I thought it was a pelvic floor issue and I was told to go to my Doctor after the new year and get bloodwork.
