After watching your video, I bought a Calathea Orbifolia to start planting Calathea. It does look gorgeous on their leaves pattern. Thank you for sharing the video. Subscribed.
I'm new to collecting plants and just got my first Calathea freddie, I love all the different varieties and hopefully I'll eventually have a beautiful forest of them like you!
Thanks for your tips! I have found that my calatheas love spring water. I buy 5L bottles from Coles for a couple dollars and it lasts ages. If I run out, then I use aquarium water which has been treated with dechlorinator.
@@MyFellowFoliage I got a calathea lancifolia! I've been wanting one for a few months and I finally just found a nice established one that wasn't too expensive!
It seems that you live in Australia which I generally think is fairly dry. However you only spray your calatheas and use pebble trays. Your video gives me hope that I wont kill by bbs if I just do those 2 things! Haha!
They are actually not too bad depending on which type of calathea you got. I find they also acclimatise to your environment. They may throw a fit initially but overtime they will adjust! All the best with yours!
@@MyFellowFoliage currently have 2 makoyanas and 1 orbifolia!! [The other types don't appeal to me :( ]. Thee is my only hope in this dark world of calatheas.
New subscriber here..i super love your videos..it inspires me a lot..i' m interested on how you maintain the leaves so clean and shiny?thanks.. from the Philippines ❤️
gracie davoren Thanks Gracie! I haven't had the best of luck with pests so I've had to learn through trial and error. I find the best thing for spider mites is prevention meaning get on top of wiping your plants down BUT if you do happen to get it anyway, then treat with diluted neem oil or eco oil (I apply it with a wash cloth or old makeup brush) and keep your fingers crossed they go away! It's worked for me so far but they tend to return so just gotta keep on top of the preventative care!
Hope you guys enjoyed this in-depth video on how to care for Calatheas! Let me know if you have any questions or other care tips to share down below!

@@MyFellowFoliage Why?
Wow they are absolutely beautiful.. 😍 Though I'm struggling with them but still not ready to give up on them.. It's impossible to resist them.. 🙃
Don't give up! I feel like they do acclimatise to your environment overtime and become less fussy!
Thank you I have a few but will not get the orbifolia too finiky! I am on the look out for the makoana. Great tips!💚👍
You're welcome! Hope you find a beautiful makoyana to add to your collection! 🤞🏻
