    The extended warm up is due to the catelyst in the muffler. Same as a catelytic converter in a car exhaust system. They do not run efficiently or at full rpm’s until this exhaust catelyst is at operating temp. They perform quite well once this warm up is achieved. Be patient, they are good machines. The pb 2620 is a commercial version of the reviewed machine in this video. Features a two stage air filter, a two ring piston and a chrome lined cylinder. A absolute powerhouse!

    That looks like a nice piece of equipment.....I almost bought a standalone blower....then I saw there are a bunch of different attachment options for my craftsman weed eater......I got the leaf blower attachment, and it works surprisingly well....even came with a shoulder strap to attach to the weed eater....I also got the pole saw attachment and hedge trimmer attachment....best money spent....I was surprised at how well all the attachments work considering how inexpensive they are.

      Good call Louie...it is handy having multiple yard tools that all run off one power head ...even though I have gas hedge trimmers-I really like the extension ones on my split shaft...get articulating ones tho vs the straight ones...much more practical. The other must have is the blades edger to really make your edges crisp!

    This used to be my primary blower and is the backup blower, had to get a new carb(on ebay for almost $40, ouch..) other than that, it's a "get the job done" blower and i know i gotta let it warm up but i just run till it gets warmed up lol, once it get to the point, it runs like a champ
    Here's my pros and cons of echo products
    Pros : real easy to start(less effort needed, once it pops up on the full choke, the next pull is guaranteed to start) and easy maintenance(it's actually hard for them to be broken)
    Cons : i dont know why the manufacturer did it, but the carb adjustment hole is blocked by some kind of plastic, to get to that you gotta heat up a tiny little screw driver to melt the plastic a bit to get it out, the one i ordered from e bay didnt have a such thing(oem), i know the manufacturer already did the best adjustment for the carb, they couldve just let it open to get to easily..

    JB I was in the market for a blower so I bought a EB650 backpack blower, I've never owned a backpack blower so I bought one for $200, and I have to say I'm absolutely glad I did. This blower is awesome!! My only gripe is it's a tad on the heavy side but the good thing is it's strapped to my back. I have about 3/4 of an acre and it definitely makes my life alot easier compared to the handheld I replaced. I always run Tru-Fuel or some type of engineered fuel and never pump fuel. But anyway thanks for your content. Love the videos, keep up the awesome work my friend

    I’ve had one of these blowers for a long time and it still works great around my yard. I also found out that there is a Shindaiwa variant of this blower that is commercial grade. It is colored red, has a metal tipped blower tube, has a second gripping handle, a metal blower fan, and the biggest handheld blower engine that Yamabiko makes. I’ve only seen them sold online and at official outdoor power equipment dealers.

      The Shindaiwa you write of is the same as the Echo 2620. Compared to the 2520 shown in this video they have a chrome lined cylinder and a second piston ring. Engine is rated at 300hrs vs 50 or 100 for the 2520. Both the 2620 and the Shindawia have an extra handle at the bottom and the metal tipped tube you mentioned.
      For the record Echo owns Shindawia, or Shindawia owns Echo. Both Echo and Shindawia sell their branded Red Armor 2-cycle oil. I Highly recommend Red Armor oil.

    Nice review. I have this at my grandmas, and when I come around to count her grass I use this. The power is alright as well as weight. I just wish there is a handle on the bottom cause on mine there none. We also have a 770H, 8010T ,9010H. As well as Redmax 8560 which is a day old. That’s another good blower brand.

    Very good video and explanation of everything. My 10 year old Stihl blower is doing well for me, otherwise I would seriously consider buying the Echo in the video. With that much air movement I’d think it could be used at times for snow movement (light fluffy snow, of course). It could probably be used to propel a skateboard daredevil, too! Crack the throttle wide open, set the cruise control and zoom off into the sunset! 😁 Rollerbladers same concept. Attach a couple of them to a cart with wheels, figure out some way to steer it and have a blast in the nearest empty mall parking lot! The possibilities are endless. Thanks for your channel, it’s always interesting. Best to you!👍🏼

    I bought this blower today and cleaned up my yard. It’s so nice that 95% of raking is replaced with this. When I went to HD to buy this, I couldn’t find the Echo brand blowers anywhere. I did see the Ryobi brands on the shelf though. After looking for a few minutes, I saw the Echo boxes stacked way up on the top shelf, and I had to have an employee get it down for me using a ladder. Also, the employee had to escort me to the cashier. So far, love the blower. Will update when I use it for a while.

    Great review and unboxing. I got one of these on sale for $169 after doing some quick research on which gas blower to buy in my budget. I was pretty surprised as this thing indeed packs a punch for the money. And yes, the warmup time is kind of annoying, but understandable. You can tell when it's finally warmed as the wide open throttle sound and speed increase is reminiscent of a Honda motors VTEC kicking in. Once you start blowing with it and it hasn't hit top RPM yet, you know it. But once it does, you hear it scream and get a nice power bump. I've used this thing to move huge piles of wet leaves across my yard and ran through a whole tank at one time while at WOT the whole time and it took it like a champ. This was my first Echo product and im definitely loving it.
    Most people dont realize that the manual calls for higher octane fuel only, and warns against using 87. Ive read it has to do with the oil mixing dropping the octane rating down once mixed. Is this a fallacy?

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome my friend! Congrats on your purchase! This blower is truly an animal! I haven’t noticed this issue because I run ethanol free gas which is usually 89 and up at the pump. Once it’s mixed the machine screams! 👍 thanks for watching!

    • @Cotterpin_Doozer
      @Cotterpin_Doozer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep most echo products require 89 octane I think same as chainsaw or 95 ron in Australia which prolly drops to 93.2 ron/89 octane with addition of 50:1 oil. I think it's to prevent the possibility of pre detonation which could otherwise damage the unit.

      backpack blowers are way more efficient for spring clean-up & fall leaves-a bit overkill for summer grass clippings - slinging over 25lbs on & off your back a dozen times a day vs a handheld blower and nearly $1k CAD vs ..a couple hundred. Both is the right choice and my recommendation is the Echo PB-770 vs the 910...better weight and plenty of performance - not everyone needs a minibike strapped to their back to be a 'man' lol

    I went the other route and got a corded electric blower and I'm so glad it did. No gas and oil to tend with, no tunes ups to worry about either. @@GarageGear the tube I'm referring to is the second tube that twists into place. I twisted it in place but I assume the vibration made it work its way loose. I'll run it again and make sure it's tight. I just thought that was odd. I love echo products.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@badtothebone346 I I know what’s happening now. That second straight tube has to be twisted hard into place. There are two little bumps on the curved pipe that twist into the notches on the straight pipe. Twist it down hard. If you have some rubber gloves to help grip the pipe while you twist that can help!

    Not even sure why echo is even in home Depot but that's a whole different issue with big business vs the small guy.

    How is the maintenance on this blower because I suck with maintenance? Also, can't I use pregas and oil or do I have to mix oil and gas separately?

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ab! You can definitely use premixed fuels with this blower. Maintenance is really easy. Hardly any at all. At the end of the season, pour any remaining gas in the tank into another container. Then try to start it up to get any last drops out. The spark arrester will have to be cleaned after several years but even that takes about 5 minutes to do. Can’t go wrong with this model! Thanks for watching!

      @@GarageGear Thank you...I am leaning towards this blower. I've had poulon pro blower since 2013 and it finally decided to die on me and it looks like maintenance will cost more, and Ego blower batteries suck even though blower itself is really good.

      I strongly advise AGAINST the premixed fuel. There are other channels on here from small engine mechanics who will show you why it is a bad idea for your small engine tools. It is a far better idea to get Ethanol free gas and mix the oil. It isn't difficult. I put it in a 5 gallon can and use it for my blower, trimmer, and my 2 cycle mower. You may not need that much if only a blower.

    Hello I'm a single female and looking at your review of this makes me consider purchasing, but what kind of upkeep or tune ups will it require? I'm very handy but are they difficult or require special tools?

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey User Dt1! Can’t go wrong with this blower! If you run echo red armor 2 cycle 50:1 oil mix you’ll be set for a VERY long time with no issues! 10 -15 years before a tune up! The only thing I could image needing a cleaning is the spark arrestor screen on the front of the housing after many years of use! Super easy to clean! Probably will do a video on this at some point! No special tools needed at all. Echo makes a great product! Thanks for watching!

      @@K.P.1 actually I’m going back to 50:1 oil mixes rather than the premixed. Bought the echo red armor and my machines run with more power and smoother now. Seeing videos on this too! I usually tip them over and drain the gas out then run them til they die. Usually does the trick!
