    I've owned the PB-2620 for a couple of years now. If you are wondering if there are any negatives, I do have one. Leaves tend to get sucked onto the orange grill behind the black grill. There isn't enough room between the two grills to easily get your fingers in to remove the leaves. I have to shut the machine off to remove the suction so the leaves can fall off. Not the biggest gripe, but if you don't remove the leaves the engine RPMs go up ( could over RPM motor?) and the blowing capability goes down. I wish the black grill was hinged somehow to make cleaning easier.

    Hey JB, I am currently in the process of buying my first house! I see you've made a few Echo vids, but I was also considering Stihl for some yard equipment - is it possible for you to do a comparison of Stihl Vs Echo? I don't think you need any chainsaws for your property but maybe string trimmers, or blowers? I just want to make sure I get the most for my money. Which ever I chose ill run TruFuel ethanol free fuel so no worries there hahaha, But your videos convinced me to buy an Ariens snow-thrower and i wasn't disappointed.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Danny! Congrats on your purchase! You can’t go wrong with echo! But you did inspire me to give some stihl equipment a shot. Perhaps later in the summer I’ll give them a whirl. Both are great options honestly! A neighbor of mine agent stihl and no complaints from him! You may want to check out echo red armor 50-1 oil! Like you I was all for trufuel but found out it’s robbing your engine of some higher rpm’s. The echo red armor runs cleaner and keeps your pistons clear of any build. It’s a little pricier and I mix it with ethanol free fuel! I can hear the difference in how things run! Give it a shot and like your ariens you won’t be disappointed! ROCK ON BROTHER! 👍

    I have owned this blower for 2.5 yrs now. Is hands down the best hendheld out there. The reason for the extended warm up is the catelyst in the muffler. Yes a catelytic converter in the muffler. Until this warms up they are a bit underpowered and will not run at full rpm’s! Carb adjustments are tricky as well. Requires a long D adjustment tool, you won’t get in there with anything else! Purchased this tool for mine for 39$. I hope this helps anybody wondering about the warmup issue!

    • @michaelmaier2113
      @michaelmaier2113 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I got it from Sawzilla. It’s the micro D adjustment screwdriver. The long version of it. Part # 20-1202. It has to be the long one to get to the high adjustment screw. It’s been about a year since I ordered this! As far as what I found looking online I’m fairly certain this is the one that I ordered.

    Great stuff, JB.
    Today was my first lawn mowing of the season, and afterward I reached for my trusty ECHO SRM-230 gas trimmer I bought new in October of 2006.

    Good to hear Echo has added better quality parts to this product (especially engine) I know Stihl has their BG50 blower that is 2 pounds lighter and has a larger engine (27.2cc) saw it online for $150. The PB-2620 specs show an AV system, seems odd it like to dance? Love your content!

      Stihl know how to market for good sales. That is make the machine look very nice and beautiful with orange and white colours. And built it to have a crapload of power. Build quality, quality of components and lifespan are absolutely terrible. But it looks great and by the time it blows up, most guys have lost interest anyway, and will just buy a new one

      Get the Echo, even the Stigh bg86 doesn’t last long without engine/carb issues. I’ve had terrible luck with Stihl blowers at work, so we just switched to Echo for the first time ever, but just the blowers.

  • @BenNawrath
    @BenNawrath ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I only have one piece of echo equipment, and that’s a spreader, but it’s great. Awesome tip for blowing out that matted grass. It’s more important than people thing for good spring grass health! A light raking helps too.

    • @GarageGear
      @GarageGear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you like the spreader? Throw good? Definitely turning greener already and I filmed those grass clips last Friday.

    • @BenNawrath
      @BenNawrath ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GarageGear I’m stepping up from a Scott’s mini, which has hollow plastic wheels that can catch material if you don’t walk fast enough… I’m not a fast walker lol. This goes thru material quickly but throws way further! My front yard takes maybe 10 passes with my (ego) mower and I can do it in 3 with the spreader, for reference. 3 complaints, and I’d be happy to elaborate more. The side guard tends to drop on its own. I just hold it with a bungee cord, some say you can bend the spring to make it tighter. It doesn’t like to completely empty the hopper, so I have a couple zip ties to be,p out the little propellor. And the only really annoying thing is that sometimes it’ll jump settings. Like from 5 to 12 when you release the lever. I’m pretty sure what’s happening is a granule gets stuck between the trap door and the gate that actually changes the size of the opening when you change settings. It’s worse with larger prills, like the prodiamine I threw down yesterday. Smaller prill “greens grade” stuff throws down like a champ. So I’m just cognizant of the need to really let that handle snap back when I let go, that seems to clear it. I haven’t figured out a way to clamp the setting lever into place, but so much is moved via a spring, probably to avoid damage, that it may not help much. I try to thoroughly clean it too! That reminds me, daddy needs a fresh bag of fert lol

    I snatched a second hand 2520 deal a few years ago. Runs beautifully but the lack of the anti vibration grip as this model has is the only downside, after the 2-3 min warmup at max rpm it starts getting uncomfortable. Does adding that flared nozzle increase the rpm of the engine to push that same amount of cfm through the nozzle. Steve did a test of jerry rigged tapered nozzle mods (not manufacturer supplied ones) showcasing this thought process which can burn out engines from having to rev harder.

I like to run for 15 minutes to let it get up to temperature to burn any excess oil off.
      The only advantage for battery powered In my opinion is if you only use it for a couple of minutes. If you need 20 minutes, buy a 2 stroke. I'm not spending 200 on a battery one though

I am going to probably buy Sthil trimmer; straight shaft. My question? What is your take on they’re 4 Mix line of engines? They run cleaner. Little better on fuel efficiency. I think that they’re a little to complex. Down the road you have to adjust the valves. And you have to be super careful about the oil/gas mixture. So, I am a shy on buying one.

      Appreciate you John! I’ll have to investigate those a bit further. I’m sure they’re built well but I always like to stick with what works. Sometimes new technology looks and sounds great on paper but when put into practice can be a real pain long term. I’ll keep you posted if I hear more information on these!

      Oh forgive! Today, I was going to buy the 580(?) Echo blow. It was sold out. So, for $70 more I could get the 770. I bought it! It’s a little bit more than I wanted. But, I do have work for it clearing leaves for some people who need it done. That said; wow! This thing hauls! Amazing sounding engine. Music! And it doesn’t ever smoke. You don’t honestly smell anything from the exhaust. I know this is something you don’t test. Still, it would be a fun blog. Yes! I am an old mower head.
