Solo Motorcycle Camping Trip in West Texas | Marfa to Big Bend National Park along the River Road

Riding to Big Bend National Park is a trek in and of itself, but there's some extremely scenic ways to get there. These roads have been on my motorcycle ride bucket list for years! After a night of motorcycle camping in Marfa, I headed down to Presidio to hit the River Road. TX Highway 170 runs right along the Rio Grande river and has some breathaking scenery. From there, I headed to my campsite in Big Bend National Park. Absolutely beautiful scenery, and a memory that will last a lifetime: a solo moto adventure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Big Bend is the HOTTEST place in TX during summer. Rio Grande is like an oasis.

I would like to point out that you have mad gas pumping skills! Not even watching the pump and you end on 5 bucks even lol!
hahahaha well i've put 65,000 miles on that dyna, I hope by this point I sort of know how to pump gas into it....I have definitely spewed gas everywhere once or twice when the handle gets stuck, though. the 5 bucks was totally luck this go-round...lol!

Heck yeah! It's a good one to do from the Fall to the Spring. May - October is Summer time in Texas and it gets a little toasty out there.

@@NorCal-refrigeration buc-ees is my religion. pro tip: beaver nuggets can be eaten like cereal. pour into a bowl, add milk, and enjoy! or grab a Kolache from the bakery. I will legit ride to buc-ees just for breakfast. hahahaha

I road out at Bing Bend a few years ago but took a different route to get there. I'm for sure going again this fall and taking these roads. Love the 360 footage you get.

Gorgeous scenery! Lived in Texas for 40 years and have not seen that area...need to change that but of course living in Texas I know that trip is best made late fall or very early spring...too darn hot in summer! Hope the weather wasn't too bad when you were there.
Oh yes...it is officially "off season" in the Big Bend! :) I think a fall trip would be best. I hear that the wild west texas winds calm down after May, and then it's hot, and then in the fall it cools off. the only difference between visiting in the Spring versus the Fall, is the wildlife...the Tarantulas are much more lively in the fall months. Unless you're tent camping, this probably won't be a huge concern for you. haha! I just hate creepy crawlies. Definitely try to get out there at some point!!! Every Texan should see the Big Bend at some point!

There's one big "hill" that I featured alot in this video, but the entire ride has some pretty good ones that make you feel like you're on a roller coaster half the time! haha.

I'm from Houston and I've done this ride down 67 in 2014 and I've eaten at The Bean before. I really want to visit big bend and Marfa again but im afraid so much will be closed for the pandemic it won't be a good trip... Watching your videos just gives me more of a bug to get back to west Texas on my bike.
I’m originally from Houston! Grew up on the north side in spring. I hear things are starting to open back up out there. It’s still a bit too hot but I bet you could call a few places before your trip to see what’s open and what’s not :)
@@ridetofood Nice. I'm from Pasadena but I've lived in downtown Houston for 7 years and been daily driving a motorcycle ever since. Stuff is slowly opening up. I really miss the night life and live music the most. Hopefully by mid Oct it will be cool enough to ride out west.

Scanned a vid after a recommend from Her Two Wheels. SW TX my favorite winter ride. Trailer or pick up my bike from SW Indiana.. favorite road is of course, From Presidio to BBNP. Nothing like it. Hope you checked out the little cafe on the point in Presidio. Great grub. Also, up in Van Horn.. you've got to go to Chuy's .. the original home of Tex Mex...
When I went through that area, it was right with COVID originally shut all businesses down, so I didn't get to eat any yummy food....I'll be going back later this year, hopefully!

Actually, there’s nice loops to ride through E. Tenn, Western NC, and N Georgia. Plus, plus, plenty of great places to eat in the mountains! Ride safe....

Hello! :) I use a 360 Camera to film while riding. Most of my cooking has been very bare bones and i use a jetboil...nothing too fancy :) You'll see it in newer videos. Thanks for watchig!

It’s a Sena Bluetooth communication system, the 10CEvo! I primarily use it for music or recording convos when riding with a friend
Your work is very well done.. it has all the aspects of a pro TV show.. well done..what type of camera are you using...?..the warped edges are kinda spooky to watch at first.... it interesting how some parts look like its floating along on its own... nice show, really enjoy it.
