    Have had great experiences with HTC. Very nice gear and good people. The first time I dealt with them, they stayed well after business hours on a Friday to get me set up with a holster I needed badly for training the next day. They didn't know me, I was just some random guy in need and they stuck around, were extremely nice and pretty much just hung out with me as I tried stuff on and chatted. Didn't rush me, push me, or try to up-sell me past what they knew I wanted/needed. When you treat every customer like that, you're going to go far. I've since bought another holster from them, and it is equally excellent. Would recommend them highly.

    Was a good system a year ago for $450 just a cyo holster with double mag is $505 now fully as shown in this video almost 1k.. What a joke! No belt system is worth 1k unless it comes with a hooker and lifetime ammo..

    I have several Glock holsters from them for over 6 years, now have worn them for CCW and range use. They have held up extremely well and still look fairly new after all this time. Such a shame they closed down recently. Great gear for sure.

    The HSGI belt is nice to throw under the bed. You can have every thing you need for the bump in the night scenario and works with any amount of clothing you may or may not be wearing. But yes it does ride up under extraneous activity.

      Andy Funk Find almost silly as you are comparing a military application to a civilian one. So the war belt was designed for solider fighting in body armour with no need to conceal anything vs a belt design for well civilian concealed carry to some degree.

    IDK why it took so long for vendors to figure this out. I started wearing the Safariland buckleless system in the mid 70's. No keepers to lose, EZ off/on. Your equipment stays where you want it and know where it will be when you need it. Great Rig you reviewed today. Glad to see it. Thanks

    Safariland has been making the buckless belt system for 20+ years originally for The LAPD. It uses a velcro inner pile belt with a 2 1/4” duty belt with velcro loops. It is indeed great that other manufactures are following suit.

    Excellent demo, thanks. Here is an easy fix for war/battle belts that have no underbelt of velcro to lock them in position. I took my cheapo Condor belt, sewed a strip of 1.5" loop velcro to the inside where it rides over my belt loops. Then I sewed the hook velcro strip to a webbing belt the same width, which I wear like a pants belt. Now I have the expensive, stay-put belt, for less.

    Thorough review. So many products out their and its all personal preference. I went with the Viking Tactical Skirmish belt. T - Rex arms Raganrok holster system, ITW rifle and pistol Fast mags, HSI dump pouch, BFG IFAK kit and I'm into it around $ 550.00 range. Nothing is inexpensive. You get what you pay for. Again all personal preference. United We Stand.

    whether you agree with the price or the effectiveness of the gun belt is irrelevant! He is well-spoken, clear and concise! I personally feel there were many merits to this system, but I agree the price is the pitfall ! however, I thought he did an outstanding presentation and proved himself to be quite proficient with the handgun! These guys are out to present options to us...... some of us may be able to improve upon these from a personal standpoint in regards to price, proficiency or both? I personally love this video and thought they did an outstanding job.... not ready to replace my personal rig with $1,000 job, but it gives you something to think about. keep those videos coming, I for one will continue to watch them.

  • @mitchschutter4302
    @mitchschutter4302 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I will say the HSGI rig, being that it is thicker and puts things further out from your body, it much better allows for the use of a chest rig in conjunction with it, because now my magazines are not sitting directly under more magazines. It also allows for use of dump pouches. I think the HTC rig is better suited for well, concealment. I think they are two different belts for different purposes.

  • @SHWELL11
    @SHWELL11 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I have to agree highly with the content of this video. I have had access to HTC products for a year now, and I dream of owning my own some day. The quality is reflected in the price. Even for Girthy folks like myself, it is still low profile. I run the HSGI system Tim has in this video and I like it a lot. The HTC setup just has a few featues that have my interest.

    Great product, not really priced for average civilians though. But, I guess it wasn't made for average civilians either. I appreciate all the time and effort put into it and it seems to be very user friendly and well built, but most people will never buy this because $500 is way too much for a mini rig.

    The price is fair. Gabe Saurez (who I don't really like) made a good point in one of his little articles. He said you got 2 camps. Guys that believe that fight is driven by and the outcome of which is decided by gear. The other camp believes that said fight is dictated by training. In reality it has to be a synergistic compilation of the two. He said two dudes going at it that have the same skill level, one with a shitty gun, the other with a good gun, the guy with the good gun wins. He compared it to the old argument between dudes that were into martial arts and guys that were into combat with the modern firearm. He said they would ague all day long about which was more important or offered more utility to the learner but in reality one was no more or less important than the other. In reality you have to have both. If you're training your in the business of the lowering probabilities, the probability that you will get killed in your next confrontation. That being said good training and good kit both work to lower that probability (as nothing can eliminate the possibility that you will lose/get killed). The logic offered by load mouth arrogant Gabe is hard to argue with.

    This system looks interesting. I've had the BIG Superman belts and just like he said, they will ride up to your ribs when you bend over. If you find yourself in an armored vehicle or even sitting in a chair with those belts, you get hung up on things, your mags get pulled out, etc.

    $700 LOL! I can get a custom built to order BDS carrier, MICH helmet, AR500 plates and any pouches and holsters on the market for that much and have a far superior loadout that can actually save my life. This industry is full of gimmicks and IMO this is a great example of one.

    • @HighThreatConcealment
      @HighThreatConcealment 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MadJustin7 It really depends on the carrier you're using. If the carrier sits low or is bulky on the sides like traditional overt carriers there may be issues with draw stroke. The Scarab from Velocity Systems seems to work well as do most other low vis carriers out there.

    Wow, what an awesome system....after wearing the standard leather black basket weave with leather snap "keepers" for 27 years, as a duty belt, I certainly can see the advantages of this belt. Cool gear brother, thanks for sharing the info!~~John

      WORROO1.... Same here. But I had the Safariland inner velcro belt and my duty belt had the velcro on the underside just like the one he is showing. I loved that rig. Never needed keepers again. I had the Safariland level 3 holster for Glock mod 22. Double mag pouch and two cuff cases. Heck It wasn't anywhere near $450.00. The holster was the most expensive part. I think it was right at $100.00 back then. I wore that system for 25 years until I retired two years ago.

    Very useful video! I have a cheap war belt and at first it was revolutionary for me! But when I combine it with a plate carrier or chest rig and start moving around and rolling and tumbling whatever in rough terrain it just sucks....works great for urban stuff where I'm going to spend more time on my feet vs proned out or sitting though. Price is a bit high for me but definitely book marking this for the future.

    Very good review. Had me mostly convince this was something I should put on my list of eventual. Then I went to the site. No holster for the Walther P99. No mag pouches for the AK-47 mags. And way to in love with the Glock.

      @sgtintog 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      PelenTan We do make Holsters for the Walther P99. If you dont see it on the website, please feel free to contact customerservice@highthreatconcealment.com. We offer many more Holsters than we can put on the website.
      Currently, we are working on the "magic" AK-47 mags. Just to many styles out there to capture the 'one size fits all" holder. We are hoping that this year will will have an answer for the many variations of the Ak-47 Mag Holder!
      I understand the "in love with the Glock" thing, as that statement is valid. Currently, the highest demand for holsters, especially with Government Customers, is the Glock. This is followed closely by SIg. But please remember that we offer numerous styles and variations for many pistol manufactures. If you dont see it on the website, contact us through email, and I am sure that we can assist.

    If the price can get down to $400 done, I would buy it. It really looks like a great rig. HTC if you could see pictures as you build it I think you would sell more rigs. It would ensure confidence in someone that it is exactly setup the way they want before they shell out $550 dollars.

    I have always found the belt sliding around to be an issue. Not sure how I feel about that much Velcro running around the belt like that but it seems highly functional. Suspenders are only so good! Good review thanks.

    Awesome setup. Went to order the same tan setup he had on. didn't even get done ordering was over $600 LOL Everything has a big up charge even tan WTF? I got this same setup double AR mag pouch and double pistol pouch and Pistol holster in TAN with out blow out pouch instead got a smaller lower profile pouch for Israeli bandage and tape and gauze. So got full setup at scorpiustactical under $200 with a couple extra pouches too and got the same TAN belt at DSGarms $89 so under $300 total. Awesome low pro rig! without breaking the Bank LOL

    So basically we (shooters and armed pros) went from a Sam Brown style belt, to "war belts" and now back to a revised Sam Brown type belt? I guess maybe I am not seeing where a kit like this is worlds better than something Safariland or Bianchi may put out. Am I missing something?
    Great video by the way. Love the channel.

    It appears that the war belt with an under belt is more applicable when wearing a plate carrier and this system is more for concealed body armor. Thanks for the video . Funny but everything seems to be coming back around to the traditional style Police rig I wear everyday , with updated kit of corse .

    Damn that's a nice rig. I have the HSGI sure grip padded belt and I'll agree with you that it does move around a bit with running. This is why I hate (and love buying gear): a couple months down the road something twice as effective comes along and then you're stuck with what you have (if you're poor like me). Lol.
    This system would be great to have. Only problem I see is if you're wearing a plate carrier. It may big too tightly to your body that accessing items on your belt may be more difficult with a plate carrier on. Which is why I think standard "battle belts" would work better with a carrier; by sticking out further you're able to reach your gear better.

      Dan31387 This particular rig is designed to be concealable or at least concealable as possible, if your wearing armor, it might not meet your operation anyways ;). Check out their site they have other options available iirc.

      Dan31387 Like Oliver said, its designed to work primarily with concealable armor systems. It does work with some overt carriers but it will be dependent on the cut and bulk on the sides.

    In one of the comments below you said you would never wear a plate carrier as a civilian. I find that to be an incredible statement from you, to be honest. Given the option, I will wear a plate carrier over one of these belts any day of the week. It does not have to be a huge, bulky fully uparmored kit that has you rolling up looking like a one-man Assault unit, but a simple, lightweight carrier in a SHTF scenario is one of the first things I will be putting on before I go outside. You can conceal it easily enough with a large coat or darkness, as long as you are sensible in your loadout no one will be the wiser. I mean it is not like you HAVE to hang every gadget and pouch you own on your carrier. Any operator(at least all the ones I know) will tell you that it really should be used with as little equipment as possible for the scenario. I do like this belt, do not get me wrong. I actually like it a lot. But I am not willing to trade vital organ protection for a low profile duty belt, however awesome it may be. I love your content and your channel, but that statement kind of shocked me. Not that it changes my opinion of you or anything like that, I am just surprised. Care to expand on your choice? By the way, I know this is an old video, but you have a lot of content and I have not gotten to it all yet haha.

    Your big jiggly gut helps keep the belt in place too. I guess the Velcro under-belt is more applicable for people that don't have a big 'ole gut to keep their "warbelt" in place.

  • @texlee1640
    @texlee1640 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My only complaint is the reliance upon the velcro under belt for stability and weight distribution. We all know after rolling around in the dirt, grass, mud, etc. that velcro gets clogged and loses its ability to hang onto itself. The price is a little steep for a stand alone unit that you wouldn't use with a plate carrier, but if one were to use it for standard classes and training, I guess it's not all that bad.

    I've been on the edge of buying this rig for a year and a half..just couldnt convince myself to..yet. In the end I'm more of a couch-cowboy than a real-cowboy.
    I have a US GruntGear warbelt that has the velcro 'under-belt' so it stays put pretty well, but I've only been to two classes.. Sigh.. I dont train as much as I should to justify getting a $450 rig that will mostly sit in the closet.
    System is definitely worth the coin, no argument there, I'm just more a couch potato than hot potato these days. Not a bad choice for including in a SHTF bugout kit. Will suck to wear in a sports car with recaro seats tho..
    Cobra buckle is great but I find it's best used off-center at 10 or 2'oclock. In the middle it digs uncomfortably into the beer gut, especially when you sit.
    great vid and timely..now it'll start me hemming and hawing about this all over again..I'm overdue to get to classes anyhow.

    Have you tried this belt with a plate carrier? Does it get in the way for the draw of the pistol, or grabbing extra mags from the belt?

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +Brandon Urbaniak It's not intended for use with a plate carrier. I would never run a plate carrier as a civilian. It's designed for low profile operations where you're trying to blend into your surroundings. If you're rolling all kitted up with armor, helmets, gloves, BDU's, etc. just wear a war belt, that's what it's designed for. This system works with thin soft armor worn under a shirt which goes with the low-pro intention of the system. This is my SHTF kit. I will explain in detail in an upcoming video.

  • @Codidicus
    @Codidicus 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I usually agree with you but not this time. My HSGI padded war belt, with cobra buckle/belt, two double decker tacos, two pistol tacos, drop bag, and med kit were only 350. Not to mention I can run multiple guns with it and the belt itself helps with lumbar support. And... suspender ready. I agree that it is much wider, but that is not always a con, when used with my body armor it out far enough it does not get hung up on the thick carrier/armor. It just has much more versatility and use for me. But again thats me and opinions differ. Good video regardless.

    • @Militaryarmschannel
      @Militaryarmschannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Codidicus You must use gear for its intended purpose. As I point out in this video, this gear is intended for low profile work. It was designed by a contractor who sought to find a way to carry all his necessary gear security in a way that allowed him and his teammates to cover up with light clothing. HSGI makes killer gear, however it doesn't fit this role. I too like the HSGI kit which is why I bought the system you see in this video. Taco's are outstanding and putting lowpro Taco's on this gear would double the useful factor IMHO.

    Thanks for making this video Tim! Where was this stuff, before I retired, when I was a full time plain clothes cop? While I can see guys having sticker shock on the price for the complete rig, if you carry on a daily basis, and have to rely on your equipment to protect yourself and others, then you understand quality is worth the price. You wouldn't put $5 magazines in your $700 defensive pistol, nor no-name range reloads in it either.
    I strongly urge HTC to come up with an adapter plate that will allow uniform officers to attach the Safariland duty holsters to it.

    • @HighThreatConcealment
      @HighThreatConcealment 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Larry Sherwood We already did on the adapter plate. I'm a reserve police officer and our department has a requirement for retention, so naturally we wanted to carry our own gear, and that was the logical solution until we develop our own retention system.
