    the caveat here is that not all filaments perform the same at exactly the same temperature, and/or retraction settings, the results of the prints, may be completely different by changing just 5C. even different colors from the same maker, can have different settings / quality. another factor is how much humidity the filament is.
    Drying each filament, and printing a temp tower for each one, then printing the test cubes / benchy for each filament at it's ideal temperature, would be the best way to evaluate quality between brands. to be even more thorough, the best retraction for each roll can be determined.
    I buy filament from many brands, and material, PETG, ABS, PLA (+) (silk) and first thing I do, is dry the roll, and print a temp tower, I have never ever had a clog, of course there are quality variations, some adhere better, others are a bit more stringy, but this can usually be fine tuned to work.

      If u don't mind sharing, how do you dry your filaments?
      Do you do the cheap cardboard box trick where you used the box that comes with your filament and place the (wet) filament on your heated bed and then cover it with the box? Or use a dehydrator? Or used a actual filament dryer box?

    Without calibrating for each filament all this shows is which filament works best for your printer without changing any settings.

    Ive bought a bundle from creality. Its the black and white one. Idk if I got a bad one but since using the black one I've been getting stringing issues and clogs and makes some pops sounds and been making my ender 3 pro extruder skip notoriously bad. So idk if I just got a lemon one or if its been overly hydrated from the unusual weather changes in socal 😅

    I bought a spool of green filament from overture and though it looks amazing in color, it cannot stick to a clean bed without clogging and volcanoing every few minutes. I used a fresh nozzle, squared the frame, tightened the belts, level and secured the bed, but it ripped the bed off the plate and volcanoed regardless. Probably a bad spool but I doubt I'll ever use the brand again

    I have been struggling with a roll of Overture PETG for days now. The consistency is shit as a perfect printed part one time set to immediately re-print again will inexplicable fail. I'm trying to make something with a lot of small parts and I have started printing them sequentially, six at a time to hopefully get a few to come out usable. I figure I might as well use up the spool since its paid for but never again with Overture.
    My #1 go to for cheap PLA is Polymaker Matte PLA. I had good prints even when the machine was slightly out of wack, they still came out good enough to use. They come in ziplock (why don't all filaments do this?) on a good cardboard spool and the company claims that they plant a tree for every spool sold. All really positives in my book.

    Cardboard spools are a NO-GO for me if using AMS or running my filament from a dryer directly to the printer. The relative humidity reading is through the roof on my dryer with cardboard spools. I haven't used many brands but I find Esun to be great. I will be trying Hatchbox in the immediate future because I have plastic spools.

    I've had good luck with overture so far, I also really like how they use cardboard rolls instead of wasting more plastic for plastic... So far no issues on my end! I've used all those brands except creality.
    I'm switching from eSun because their filament seems to break the most when stored.. all my stuff is stored with desiccant so it's pretty annoying.
    Also, for the love of god, please tune your printer lol.

      @nfaurerSLK ปีที่แล้ว

      @Christopher Easler what do you mean you can't get it to do anything? And like I said, I have yet to have any issues with their filament

    Creality is my go to for test prints as it is dirt cheap and works extremely well. For price vs quality it's the best I've found of cheap filament just wish they had more colors. Hatchbox dials in extremely well though for final prints and matterhackers while temperamental, once dialed makes for a extremely fine finish.
    I hate ESUN and Overture along with other cheap Amazon options. They all are easy to print with but lack quality and consistency for finish.

      I agree - I've only been using overture for larger prints that I sand down and paint so I haven't been having any issues but CREALITY and Hatchbox are definitely the two I like using the most

    Hatchbox for PLA, PETG, Wood & Silk.. TTYT3D & CC3D for Silk.. Don't need anything else. Sunlu is pretty good too.

    Could you buy a Turkish Filament Brand Porima PLA and PLA+ to see if they are good enough like they claim...

      “Good enough” ?? Just means if the individual or group of people in question believe it is of a minimum acceptable quality.., I believe you would like to know if “it’s as good as”, or “better than” other brands..

    I disagree with this method of testing. Each filament in the real-world would be individually used and calibrated for it's required flow dynamic, flow rate, nozzle temperature, bed temperature, and speed. Just because they're all PLA doesn't mean you should just throw them all into a mixed bag and print them all the same. That's not how someone, who is using their 3D printer effectively, would print with it - so the test is void.

    I prefer using Hatchbox over Overture when the price is right, both are good but Hatchbox seems to print a little better. Stay far away from Amazon Basic, I had a roll of black pla and couldn't get it to stick at all. Even tried using glass, buildtak, tape, and creality's new ceramic-glass with no luck (using that now on both printers), threw on some hatchbox and it stuck perfect with same settings.
    On a side note. If you still have a lot of that white pla, you can make a lot of lithosphere prints with it. But I would tune the printer for better layer lines before hand.

      I am a newbie to 3D printing. I have Overture Black PLA that prints pretty nice except it seems to be prone to stringing. I have Hatchbox Orange that prints very nice and seems less prone to stringing. I really like the Overture spools because they have the labeled slots that show you how much filament you have left. I have not dialed in my Cura settings for the Overture filament but may just stick with the Hatchbox filaments since it doesn't seem to string as much.

    I’d guess if someone wanted to invest the amount of time to compare 4 brands, the first step would be to get your printer dialed TF in..

    @GRANITEMONUMENT 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wait, so we don’t even have the heart to make someone 4th?? 😂, good, job on the comparison, I’m sure it took some time.. try temp towers because that ender filament might have been absolutely flawless at 210 degrees, and the pla+ may have wanted a completely different temperature., at a minimum, run the manufactures recommended settings, and buy a heat gun to confirm your machine is accurate, although the temp tower is calibrated to your machine automatically, and no need for temperature gun, or any means of calibrating the gun itself…

    Overture for me is a permaban, used only one some cm of one roll, but the way it failed was epic.. so yes, maybe u could pick a “good roll” but in case of a bad roll, man, u cant even immagine how bad it can be, so no ty, its better to put better filament in the box than a useless low quality and small print bed

  • @johnlocke3481
    @johnlocke3481 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So all you are showing is, if you want to print a white pla and it has to be printed at 205 degrees, and you only have these 4 options, here’s the best choice

    Sorry, but this definitely looks like a Creality commercial (i.e. paid content)
    Hatchbox and eSun are consistently most highly rated PLA on Amazon. With Creality being very far behind.
    I personally have printed with both Hatchbox and Creality PLA to compare them, and Hatchbox, is without a doubt, a much better PLA.

    • @CASSDesigns
      @CASSDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry it looks that way! This was the first time I used CREALITY filament and it worked very well for me, hatchbox is my usual go-to but I hop around depending on what I’m printing, eSun PLA+ consistently clogs in my printer, it could be a problem on my end

      I sell 3D printers and filament with them. I don't get many complaints but Creality is only brand I have stopped selling. Creality do sell good filament but it is not the stuff branded "Ender".

    Which filament brand is the most reliable. That’s what I want to know. The rest I can do on my own.
