- Episode 8: Departure from Proddatur: Off-Road Adventures to Chitradurga
Leaving behind the bustling streets of Proddatur, we set our compasses towards Chitradurga, a historical gem nestled within the heart of Karnataka. With the Triumph Scrambler 400X in convoy, anticipation brews as we chart a course through rugged terrain and untamed landscapes.
As we venture deeper into the heartland of Karnataka, the allure of off-road exploration beckons. With unanimous agreement among our group, we veer off the beaten path, seeking to test the mettle of our trusty steeds amidst the untamed wilderness.
The Triumph Scrambler 400X, renowned for its versatility and off-road capabilities, proves its worth as we tackle rocky trails and dusty paths with confidence. Its agile handling and responsive throttle make light work of the challenging terrain, allowing us to navigate through the wilderness with ease.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, with its rugged build and sturdy frame, rises to the occasion as we traverse through uneven terrain and rocky outcrops. Its long-travel suspension and robust design instill a sense of confidence, as we push the boundaries of adventure on this off-road expedition.
Not to be outdone, the KTM 390 Adventure showcases its off-road prowess, devouring every obstacle with gusto. With its lightweight chassis and powerful engine, the 390 Adventure effortlessly conquers the trails, leaving a trail of dust in its wake.
As we continue our off-road odyssey towards Chitradurga, a sense of camaraderie fills the air, as we bond over the shared thrill of exploration and discovery. With each twist and turn of the trail, we are reminded of the resilience and adaptability of our chosen steeds, as they rise to the challenge with unwavering determination.
Arriving in Chitradurga, dust-covered and exhilarated, we reflect on the day's adventures, grateful for the opportunity to push the limits of our bikes in pursuit of the ultimate off-road experience. With memories of today's journey etched into our minds, we eagerly anticipate the adventures that lie ahead as we continue our exploration of Karnataka's rich tapestry of landscapes and heritage.
Join us in the next episode as we unravel the mysteries of Chitradurga and delve deeper into the history and culture of this ancient city. The adventure continues, and the road ahead is filled with endless possibilities.

Us Indian bikers are sitting at home cause it’s too hot, I’m amazed you guys are putting in the distances in the heat everyday, I 🫡 you guys
It’s been a tough ride so far. Especially when it’s so cold in the uk when I left here 🥵👍💨💨💨
@@thatbikersimonWe are sweating standing still, not sure how you are riding around all that black suits
@@thatbikersimonI can totally feel you. I myself rode on my Scrambler for 550 km of coastal ride last weekend and there was a time when I felt like I was put into an oven. You guys are doing an amazing job coping up with weather while sipping hot chai! Hats off!
Lots of respect guys... soaking the balaclava in cold water helps a lot in the afternoons

This has been one of the best bike comparison I’ve watch for a long time. Just fantastic guys. This is exactly how most people would use these bikes, 80% road and 20% off road. They have all coped well, but I think there is only one true Adventure Bike. Let’s see.
Thanks for the comment, I’m glad your enjoying the videos, I think the anticipation is starting to build now 😂🏍️💨💨💨💨
Am addicted to these videos now, eagerly wait fir each one of them. I want you guyz to take a road trip all over ftom North to North-east. This is one journey am following very closely. Love it absolutely. You guyz are good riders. 😊😊❤
Maybe one day! Thanks for watching I’m sure il be back to India 🇮🇳 very soon. 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨
All three of the bikes impress in this series, based purely on watching : that Himi seems to be the best allrounder. But those other two do really well, also. Great to see real on the road comparing, that is after all the reason for us to buy bikes. Good series!
Many thanks, yes all 3 bikes are getting watched with great interest. Thanks for the comments 👍🏍️💨💨💨👍
This is how bikes need to be tested. Great stuff!!! Get back home safe.
Many thanks, glad your enjoying the adventure. 👍🏍️💨💨💨

Good choice I can’t fault you 👍🏍️💨💨💨
Great video once again! And the conversation at the end is a nice touch. Looking forward to the 10th day (I think it's going to be the Himalayan)
I’m excited myself.. place your bets 😂 🏍️💨💨💨💨
Been watching all your episodes what a great adventure with your mates and a really good real world insight into the virtues of each of the bikes well done guys.
Many thank Andrew is comments like yours that inspire into creating these vlogs. Thanks for watching 👍🏍️💨💨💨
I am loving this series. Absolutely brilliant guys.
Thanks buddy, really appreciate it 👍
Absolutely brilliant Simon. I'm not sure which is better. Having ridden every km with you or sitting here at home in Goa watching it all over again. It's all change for me soon. In 2 weeks time, i'll be in Kathmandu getting ready to lead the next motorcycle group to Mount Everest Base Camp in Tibet. Cheers mate. Alex
Thank you, Alex without you. None of this could of could of happened , The Nomadic Knights team is the best ive could’ve ever ridden with especially especially when I rode to Mount Everest. 🏍️💨💨💨
A gorgeous rock climb! Found quite a gem!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
Looking forward to Episodes 9 and then 10 with the verdict. Really enjoy the laid back, fun narrative. Alex knows India so well. Amazed at the speeds you guys seem to be clipping along at around the Tuk Tuks and cattle. Epic.
Glad your enjoying it. Episode 9 will be out today. 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨💨
I've been following your vlogs (this series) from day one, and eagerly wait for the latest episodes. Amazing insight into real time performances of these bikes. Enjoy your tours and adventures. Keep it going, they're just great👍👍

Simon your vid’s are brilliant. Just enough bike info. to keep the troops happy. Your vid’s of India are very good. It’s good to see all the good & not so good places in the country.
Your looking at places the tourist don’t normally go.

as an INDIAN you guys drink more chai than i do😅😅😂. i mean seriously who drinks cahi in 40 degree weather.
I’m not a fan of hot drinks in hot weather but I do like a tea first thing in the morning 👍☕️🏍️💨💨💨
Remember that in the arab desert they give you hot tea because they say if cold it is not good for you
Really enjoying this series. Thank you

Thanks, glad your enjoying it 👍🏍️💨💨💨
what a fantastic series! Love the chat at the end, would be nice if you could do it in your next videos after every day riding, just a few thoughts after 300+ km, it would build up a good lot of opinions/emotions by the end of the series! These are the three bikes I am undecided with for a future purchase, but I'll probably be ending up with the Himalayan!
Glad your enjoying it. It’s much appreciated support. 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨

Absolutely amazing videos as always Simon and really enjoyed your thoughts on these 3 bikes, after all, they have got big boots to fill! We are out on the Grand Canyon trip with Alex and the team again next February and your drone footage just made this real! I have already sorted my mini 4 pro (your fault!) and can't wait to get back out there!
You’ve made the right decision with the mini 4. I might upgrade my controller to the 4 as signal can be a issue sometimes with the 3 (no Ariel) but as you can see it really puts the place into perspective. Glad you liked the videos and you never know i might just be on the next one. 🏍️💨💨💨💨
You lot had a blast, din't you! I'll be hitting these routes in May riding from Mumbai to kanyakumari, great videos Simon, keep em coming ! Cheers!
Thanks Buddy, it’s great fun. I’m heading back out to the Himalayas in august so I’ll have a big series coming out later this year
I'm very much excited to see which one are you going to pick. I would say by watching all these series episodes
1. Scrambler 400X. x Liverpool
2. Himalayan 450. x Arsenal (Obviously u would choose this one bcz you are more adv type )
3. KTM 390 x Man City
Interesting theory, you’ll have to wait till the last episode 😂👍🏍️💨💨💨

Awesome video boys, keep it up and loving the conversation at the end, get some more convo throughout the day on stops too 🤟🏻🤟🏻
The stops have been so short we’ve not had time to sit about and film but in the next adventure (coming soon) I sure will 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨

Well very good suggestion from your friends and let them choose which one you may ride back with on the last day. You might be surprised at their decision. in any case, wonderful series so far and I look forward to your next adventure.
I actually still don’t know at this point but all will be revealed soon. Thanks for watching the episodes 👍🏍️💨💨💨
Great discussion, and fun to follow on Google Maps. Cheers from Downunder. I have put my deposit down on one of those bikes.

@@alfredstrydom7834 amazing buddy, I’ve rode Vietnam 🇻🇳 many years ago and recently went back for a holiday. Great place 👍🏍️💨💨💨
Another great one Simon. Really enjoyed the commentary and camaraderie at the end. You obviously didn’t get time to shower! Lovely grubby smiling face. Interesting to see how well the RE performed off-road. Not sure the old one would have climbed that slope, especially with me on the back! Looking forward to seeing which bike you choose to ride on the last day (or which one is chosen for you?!). My guess is in this order. RE. Triumph and a long way off the KTM. Chris x
Hey Chris, glad you enjoyed it.. your right about the old Himalayan it definitely wouldn’t get up that rock. (It was steeper than it looked on camera) I’m not sure why the other 2 look so clean compared to me 😂. You’ll have to wait to see if your prediction if correct. Hope your keeping well buddy. Are you rinding this August with me back to the Himalayas on the new 450?
You guys are awesome…!!!
Best vid series I have ever seen..!!!
U r National Geographic of bikers 😄
Keep riding and have a safe journey back home guys..!!!
Thank you so much 😀 🏍️💨💨💨💨
Hey Guys, that' s are great videos. Have fun.
Cheers, it’s been an awesome ride so far 👍🏍️💨💨💨
This is such a great adventure. Wish I could be there too! One tip I have for extreme heat riding is to soak you base layer in cool water periodically and then keep your jacket zipped up to slow down evaporation. It will keep your core cooler, which will help everything else.
As much as it’s hot and I know I keep mentioning it but I prefer it to the cold weather. It’s nice to wear light clothings instead of big thick heavy gear 👍
At 11:19, just a couple of goats being chauffeured by their humans. No biggie.
😂👍
One of these is not like the other. The Triumph only being a Scrambler instead of an ADV, its performance was mighty impressive! Looking forward to your verdict!
I think there all completely different, even the KTM isn’t an adventure bike, but they all come into a lightweight category. Keep watching 👀 👍🏍️💨💨💨
I am totally absorbed in this adventure and you guys are not taking any prisoners on the speed front
Thanks buddy 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨
I wasn't going to comment on this one but can't help it another good ride it's like watching David Attenborough but on bikes India is such a diverse place not so shore about the heat though but those bike are holding up well perfect for the job it just goes to show you don't need a bike bike keep going guys👍💯
That should have said big bike😂
Thanks Alan, I appreciate the comments, the support has been great. I probably won’t ride here again in March 🥵 but it was the only time of the year we could all get together for the ride and yes you don’t need a big bike, these little 400s are more than capable 🏍️👍💨💨
When you guys say "Chai" it reminds me of Bill Gates.. he got famous enjoying chai(tea) in India recently 😂✌🏻
Btw nice to have you guys in our country. Hope you keep on visiting more often and discover our vast diversity of terrains and cultures. Love you sir ❤️😇
Thank you so much 😀 the comments have been amazing. Glad your enjoying the videos 🏍️💨💨💨
hi idk if ull reply but im 19yo rn and i've never driven a bike but yes i do have some money to buy something of 5 grands. ik itll sound dumb but shall i go with the new triumph scram 400x. can i a scrambler to tracks? does the wide handlebar and higher seat height kills the fun of leaning? height wont be an issue as im 6'2. but can u help? are scramblers equally fun?
It’s a easy bike to ride and a great starter bike. Watch tomorrow episode you just might be to see a clip of agility. Your hight is fine for this bike
Hi Simon, what panniers bags do you guys use and are they rackless?
They have a rack each side, I’m unsure of the brand of bags, there a India made company. I’ve tried to google them but nothing comes up. They were already fitted when I got the bike.
Great video ❤ let us know if you guys have any plan to visit Northeast?
Maybe one day! I shall return at some point for sure 👌 🏍️💨👍👍💨
I've ridden all the North East quite a few times. We rode through and stayed in every state. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. We rode it every year from 2013 to 2023. This is the first year we've missed it. It's an incredible place. I love it. Cheers. Alex
Waiting for ur next episode, i wanna know ur verdict, m holding on the decision to purchase, i m 6.1ft guy, so seat height is no problem, really Waiting for ur unbiased logical reasoning, as most of the youtube reviewers are biased

Don't know how you or the bikes are functioning in that heat, how do the locals do it every day, you blood must be just about boiling! Bet that beer tasted absolutely fantastic though!😊
The beer is the only reward at the end of the day, and a pool if they have one. Yes the heat is exhausting after a full days ride. 👍🥵🏍️💨💨💨

You really have the courage to drink and eat there.

In addition to the prices, which are quite favourable for us Europeans, it should be mentioned that all three motorbikes are built in India under the low wage conditions there.
I can’t really comment on wages in India because I don’t have a clue, but the royal Enfield factory looks a very nice working environment.
Wages are decent in terms of PPP for India. That's what you get when the complete product is designed, built entirely with 💯 percent localisation. Great product at a great price. Pure value for money.
Go for the scrambler 🙂
