      Chuck Beef amen on that! I have 15 Henrys now, been buying Henry rifles since they came out with the Deluxe Engraved Original Rifle. I buy the latest version of those every year they come out with one, and I have a Iron Frame that I reload 44-40 for...just bought the 20 inch .410, it’s my dedicated squirrel gun. Can’t wait to try some rifled slugs out of it, all my Henrys have been very accurate and have had unmatched overall quality. Best guns out there today as far as I’m concerned, some are niche guns such as this, but if it fits the task you need it for, you won’t be disappointed.

      Too bad slugs are virtually impossible to find other than low quality Turkish imports. I have had the greatest success with Brenneke, Federal and Winchester ( in that order). Only the Brenneke penetrates decently. The others are Foster slugs which fragment quickly with little penetration.

    That's a sweet looking .410, in my younger days I small game hunted with an H&R .410 single shot. It brought down a lot of game, still have not an expensive gun but priceless to me. As it was a gift from my long departed parents. I may have to get one of these for my son.

    I purchased the 24 inch with invector chokes for small game hunting. I've shot many rounds of trap with it and average in the 20s. For reference with a 12 gauge I'm a 24 or 25 out of 25 shooter. So I only drop a couple of birds going to a 410. The gun handles and swings quite well for a light and small frame. Can't wait to bring it out for small game in a couple of weeks.

    James, I have/do own 5 Henry rifles, my last one my wife bought for me, a steel Big Boy in .357 mag/38 special. I have shot my 22lr or 22 mag and loved and still do them. I bet Henry makes a coach gun one day, but it will be expensive. The machining it takes to regulate two barrels is labor intensive. The CZ Hammer Coach is close to $1000, but it’s cost is negated some since it’s a Turkish built gun (just like many wood and steel shotguns these days). It’s a beautiful piece, I have one, but I would definitely find a way to buy an American made coach gun any day. If I had the capital, I would start my own gun company for sure, and I would do the same thing Henry does in terms of emphasis on American parts and workers and build high quality cowboy era guns. Coach guns, Spencer rifles, trapdoor rifles, Winchester models, even revolvers. Just about any gun you saw in Red Dead Redemption 2.

    • @carsonburkholder1548
      @carsonburkholder1548 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      410 is a .41 bore. You can shoot 410 out of a .45 bore, but not the other way around. The taurus judge is chambered for .45 which allows 410 to be shot, but I'm guessing that since this is dedicated 410 shotgun, the bore will be .41 in order to maximize accuracy, patterning, and efficiency of the 410 round. A .45 bore smoothbore would not be very accurate or efficient with either 410 or 45 colt rounds, and if it was rifled, the shot pattern for 410 would spread so fast (and create a "doughnut" pattern) as to be virtually non-effective past point blank range. It works for the Judge due the short barrel (not enough distance for the rifling to have much effect on shotshells), and the fact that it is designed to be a very close range weapon.

  • @Matersoup
    @Matersoup 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Summarizing from my point of view and comparing it to a modern pump shotgun:
    The Henry is more inconvenient to load
    The Henry is less versatile with its fixed barrel
    The Henry will not accept 3" shells (a showstopper for any 410 shotgun)
    The Henry MSRP $947
    Mossberg 500E MSRP $431 add 18.5" cylinder bore barrel for $75
    Remington 870 Express $480
    On the other hand, the Henry is very handsome and I'm sure of the highest quality.

      I get where you're coming from. The loading tube threw me off at first, but when I realized they are staying true to the 1860 design, I actually understood and it's grown on me. I like that you can open the action and drop a round in without touching the loading tube. Besides, if they start making a loading gate, then it just another "Marlin". They are staying unique, and appear to have a big following these days. I will have my Big Boy Steel .45 Colt shipped in, in the next couple of days, and I can't wait to get it out on the range.

    Just curious, You state that Henry products are made in America, America is a very large Continent, Just what part of America are you talking about?
    The U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America?

      They're obviously made in the USA.

      America is the country jackass. North America is the continent. Don’t mix Canada and Mexico as part of the states

    .410 is too small of a shell in my opinion.. i wish they were at least 20, or i wish you guys at henry would make side by side double barrels with the hammer, like old coachguns

    Do not understand why they have not made it in 20 or 12ga with rifled slug barrel would be perfect deer gun

      Its not a strong enough design for that much pressure and gases that can cause the gun to basically blow back into your face.... Take a look at world war 1 style lever action 12ga they have to be made completely different!!!

    Is the 20" one for slugs only, or is buckshot OK in it, too? Thanks.

    • @jimlacefield7176
      @jimlacefield7176 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      avlisk it will shoot buckshot or even birdshot......it's just a wide open choke so the pattern will be quite spread out and not very dense.

    • @TBullCajunbreadmaker
      @TBullCajunbreadmaker 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the choke okay for slugs in the 24 inch model ? I just ordered one today to teach my grandson.

    • @TBullCajunbreadmaker
      @TBullCajunbreadmaker 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You never choke a slug of any kind. All you are going to do with a choke and slug is damage your chokes and maybe the barrel too. A slug should have no restriction.

    • @biogta76
      @biogta76 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up to a full choke is just fine for 410 slugs. In fact, most 410 shotguns come from the factory as fixed full-choke models and are fine for slugs. It's generally not recommended to go to a smaller bore than full choke.
