On the One x2 as long as the camera is close to me, the audio is not so bad but once I extend the selfie stick, it becomes hard to hear me. So safe to say, I can't wait to give this system a try.

Any updates on the record button lock on the transmitter. And is there a safety for the power button like quick press then press and hold like the drones
Like it. Only wish it was UHF. My location has heavy 2.4ghz interference. Great idea with the recorder/transmitter concept. I am currently using Tascams. Good review, very thorough. Cheers
Thanks for this guide!! I just picked my unit up. It looks like the Safety Track is only available in Mono mode, is that right? When I switch between them it goes Mono, Mono + Safety, Stereo, then right back to Mono.
Watching at 1,5x speed and that 50m to 75m section was A LITTLE BIT FREAKY 😂 Just purchased a Go ii, might have to return that and get this instead because of that sweet charging case! That is a killer feature IMO. That magnet looks sweet too. Need to see more comparisons too though
Also, the Wireless Go 2 is not intuitive for extracting the recordings off of each transmitter. Frankly the DJI product knocks the Rode out of the park.
@@AndyBanner true that too, though it’s not a huge selling point for me. Then again it’s also quite a bit more expensive at least here in Finland - almost a 20% price difference
THANKS Stewart for the terrific review. SORRY, three questions please: 1) Can the safety track be set for more or less than the default 6db? 2) Can the transmitters and receiver be powered individually by portable power banks so as to last longer then the approx. 5 hours run time with the internal batteries? 3) When using a separate mic such as the Rode Video Micro or lavalier, is the internal transmitter mic bypassed?
Safety track is default set. All components can be used while charging. The lav mic bypasses the onboard. I've been experiencing a lot of interference: th-cam.com/video/1j6NLBrY3zw/w-d-xo.html Think I found a solution, changed the cable.
Question. iPhone user: When you connect the receiver to an iPhone , after you record some video, do you need to unplug the receiver in order to listen to the recorded video? I have rode wireless go connected via trrs adapter and you need to unplug receiver in order to listen the video audio. I know that the new rode wireless go 2 with the lightning cable would work, this is no need to unplug cable I’m Oder to listen video audio. Does it work same way with DJI mic . Btw thank very for this and other videos. Amazing quality and details..
Is the -6db safety track recorded both on the transmitter internal memory (in addition to the main volume track), as well as being an output feature from the receiver??
Another cracking review guys. Looks like a brilliant system. I have the Rode Wireless Go 2 which I am more than happy with, but if this had been around at the time of purchase I might have opted for it, although it is $150 more expensive than the Rode here in Australia. Quite cheeky of DJI to have lifted so many of the features of the Rode setup though and it'll be interesting to see what Rode do in return!
That's quite a price difference in Oz. Certainly plenty of inspiration taken from the existing systems on the market - not just Rode's. Good for the consumer though.
@@DroneFilmGuide I'm in Aus, and have JUST bought a Rode Wireless Go 2 kit (on sale at $300), and NOW I start seeing these videos, even though the DJI's ARE better, they are also around the $500 mark, so I think I'm happy with mine.
That's correct. Assuming everything is fine with the audio captured on the camera (via the transmitter), you don't have to bother with the backup audio.
The main issue I have with the rode kit is that it’s internal battery doesn’t last very long after a year of regular use. I’d really prefer removable batteries
This is awesome! But I have a question “ Can it connect to Bluetooth speakers like wireless rode go 2 for a presentation or so on ? And how? “ Please, answer my questions. Thank you very much! Kind regards.
What impressed me the most is the lack of hissing! Seems like it dropped at the right timing as I was going for the RODE. Still will see more comparisons and then decide. Thanks for the review!
Hey! We have a detailed comparison with the Røde Wireless Go 2 coming out shortly but what I will say is they BOTH have excellent audio quality. The Røde is really superb, so for the regular content creator that one is a draw - both are great. If used correctly you won't have audible hiss on either system. There are a lot of variables that can lead to hiss (distance from mic, camera preamp settings/quality if receiver is connected to camera, quality of lav mic if one is being used, room noise etc.). Cheers!
@@DroneFilmGuide Thanks a lot! Can't wait for the comparison video then! I like the charging case here with DJI, so if it's a draw I might lean towards the DJI as the case works a charging deck and a protective case. Warm greetings.
So maybe I'm missing it, but outside of the charging case, touch screen, or the added connections for phone attachment, what is the biggest benefit of having this over the Wireless Go II?
In addition to the 3 pretty meaningful features you've mentioned, easy transfer of files to computer, i.e. not via an app. Smaller and more discrete transmitters. Everyone has different priorities but if you're a wedding filmmaker for example, charging 3 separate devices via USB-C is not practical. Doing so with a pre-charged case is extremely valuable. Access to all settings via a touch screen is also extremely useful because fiddling with an app is not always suitable. Like I say, everyone has different priorities.
Two things for me over the Rode system: 1. you can plug it straight into a phone. 2, a headphone jack on the receiver, so you can monitor audio regardless what you have it connected to. Some smaller cameras have a mic input, but no headphone jack.
Is the independent gain control just a correction for a automatic gain, or is it really possible to set the gain manually? Because that is one thing you can't do on RODE or Sennheiser AVX And if it is truly a manual gain, can you set an automatic one? (just curious)
If I understand you correctly then the gain control is manual - controllable both at the receiver and the transmitter end of things. There is no automatic gain where levels increase in response to quietness and vice versa.
Do you know if DJI is making a hand held mic where the receivers will slip in the end of it like the Rode Interview Go and the Wireless GO II? Also, how did you connect the DJI receiver to the tripod? (which I suppose you could use that as a hand held mic) Do you think the clip on back of DJI receiver is the same width as the clip on the Rode Wireless Go II? It could possibly fit on the end of the Rode Interview GO handle.
Well done! However.. I'm wondering if the DJI mic system will work with the original Osmo Action (1) camera through the CYNOVA mic adaptor? I haven't been able to find any information regarding that combination as of yet. Thank You ahead of time!

I've been experiencing a lot of interference: th-cam.com/video/1j6NLBrY3zw/w-d-xo.html
Think I found a solution, changed the cable.
Question. iPhone user: When you connect the receiver to an iPhone , after you record some video, do you need to unplug the receiver in order to listen to the recorded video? I have rode wireless go connected via trrs adapter and you need to unplug receiver in order to listen the video audio. I know that the new rode wireless go 2 with the lightning cable would work, this is no need to unplug cable I’m Oder to listen video audio. Does it work same way with DJI mic . Btw thank very for this and other videos. Amazing quality and details..
Hey Stewart how did you connect the mic to the DJI action 2 tripod? I have both and don't know how to connect the two. Thanks
Super helpful - thank you.
Hey Stewart, does the DJI Mic receiver, when clipped onto included hot shoe adapter, mount on a hot or cold shoe on camera? Thanks.
Can we a link for the stand and the 3.5 mm to USB C cable
So it records to your camera or device and the transmitter? So you dont necessarily need to sync in post.
That's correct. Assuming everything is fine with the audio captured on the camera (via the transmitter), you don't have to bother with the backup audio.
I like the tripod mount which attached the dji mic, where did you get this ?
The main issue I have with the rode kit is that it’s internal battery doesn’t last very long after a year of regular use. I’d really prefer removable batteries
"...doesn't last very long..." is a very vague statement. So, how long does it last now as compared to when you first got it?
I think you can replace the battery cell on your own if its possible to open the main case.
An excellent review/overview of what seems to be a brilliant product from DJI.
Which qualify is better? The internal microphone audio or the captured transmitted audio?
Internal for sure: I've been experiencing a lot of interference: th-cam.com/video/1j6NLBrY3zw/w-d-xo.html
Think I found a solution, changed the cable.
The Hollyland Lark has been the RODE GO 2 killer in my opinion. But this does everything it does PLUS redundancy. NICE
My thoughts exactly, the redundancy would save so many shoots.
Super solid vid! gonna give it a shot
@@DroneFilmGuide Thank you so much and appreciate the reply along with all that you 2 do for the creative community. 🙏🏽
Because that is one thing you can't do on RODE or Sennheiser AVX
And if it is truly a manual gain, can you set an automatic one? (just curious)
If I understand you correctly then the gain control is manual - controllable both at the receiver and the transmitter end of things. There is no automatic gain where levels increase in response to quietness and vice versa.
With the USB C port, have you tried connecting the DJI to a GoPro?
Best audio quality recording on internal memory or on an external recorder like Zoom H8?
Do you know if DJI is making a hand held mic where the receivers will slip in the end of it like the Rode Interview Go and the Wireless GO II? Also, how did you connect the DJI receiver to the tripod? (which I suppose you could use that as a hand held mic) Do you think the clip on back of DJI receiver is the same width as the clip on the Rode Wireless Go II? It could possibly fit on the end of the Rode Interview GO handle.
Love this review! Great job.
Great Review Stewart ! Thank you.
Well done! However.. I'm wondering if the DJI mic system will work with the original Osmo Action (1) camera through the CYNOVA mic adaptor? I haven't been able to find any information regarding that combination as of yet. Thank You ahead of time!
Hi Stewart, thanks for this video review. Does the receiver have a hot/cold shoe for mounting to cameras and is this mic kit available to purchase now?
Hi Stewart, did you ever get feedback or interference using this mic? If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks.
If you record with it on our shirt, can't you boost the audio levels to compensate?
Thanks for the detailed review !
