My question is about the DJI Lavelier Mic. You did a thorough investigation about all the Lavelier mics that where suitable for the DJI MIC system.
Is this new DJI Lavelier mic with this introduction the best one (no windmuf in the package!)? I am using two AGPTEK Lavalier Microphone and they are still great or should I buy this new DJI Lavelier? Thanks and keep up this great channel!
Glad you saw some of the original DJI Mic videos! Working on the the lavalier content now. It sounds great though and it's favourably priced. Glad you got the AGPTEK though - it sounded great in the original tests.

Good video! Just to confirm is the 32 bit float only on the mics local recording? And not the audio that'll be embedded in a video file on a camera for example
What is Tripod you are using at the desk to hold the DJI mic? I assume you have some thing to mount it to as well...

WARNING! There are users having SERIOUS problems with the DJI Mic 2. Namely when using lav macs with the transmitters. Non-DJI lav mics -- that worked great with DJI Mic 1 -- are working with one transmitter of the DJI Mic 2 but NOT the other! FStoppers found this to be the case with a high-end Sennheiser mic (that worked on the DJI Mic 1 just fine). It happened to me as well, using the Shure MOTIV lav mics Stuart recommended for the DJI Mic 1. They worked beautifully with that system, but with the DJI Mic 2, I'm having the EXACT same issue FStoppers reported! They work on ONE of the transmitters but not on the other.
I hope you'll test these with other lav mics like you did the DJI Mic 1, I would love to know if this is systematic to the unit, or just happening for a few lemons!

Main question here is have they fixed the buzzing if you put the receiver any where near the Sony A7S3 ?
I second this! I have the buzzing noise, but it might just be the cable attached to it and not it sitting in the hotshoe.
The DJI Mic 2 seems like a nice upgrade from the first one. I have been using the Mic 2 that came with the Pocket 3 Creators combo and have been happy with it. Great testing and first look at the new mic, thanks for sharing.

Seems that many ideas came from Hollyland Larc Max. The bluetooth and the 32 bit is the main addition.

Hello. Please tell me, will you do a review about DJI Osmo Pocket 3? It's just a masterpiece with a one-inch CMOS.
It’s quite crazy how DJI basically copies the Hollyland Larks every time.
Hollyland Lark Max to be exact. Totally noticed that, the turn knob, environmental noise cancelling but DJI sounds like they might have one upped the quality. Guess Hollyland should be flattered that DJI found their ideas so good.
@@sparketech totally agree. Hollyland started it with the Lark 150 and this is a lark Max for sure.
Honestly, the 32 bit float is a great selling tool. Is it something that 95% of creators are going to use…no. It takes away the exact point of a good wireless mic.

@@RICH_Photography if Hollyland makes a Lark Max 2 I bet it is going to have at least the 7 hours plus of battery life, this only had 6. For a max 2 I expect 32bit float as well. I am a creator myself with this and another channel and also work with an actor with over a quarter million subscribers as the editor, video and sound guy. I use my Zoom F3 for 32but float but rarely need it unless making a movie versus a review. The problem with wireless audio is head movements, clothes rubbing and affecting the consistency of sound. 32bit float is a good to have when recording loud scenes on the go for sure. By the end of 2024 I feel that all high end consumer level mics will be 32bit float... Even Hollyland... Oh and 8Gb of memory is kind of disappointing as a creator storage wise. 32bit float takes for example 14hours of record down to 8... Or 22 hours down to about 13 or 14
This is a slightly different scenario; I record our cycling tours, which so far can be anything up to 12 days. We currently use two GoPro’s, a model 9 & 10. The wind and tyre noise is terrible, causing excessive amount of editing time on my laptop. Given that the GoPro solution for external recording eats battery power and makes them less waterproof ( we ride in all conditions) I am looking for a solution that would allow us to record the audio separately and sync later in post, it would need to be waterproof or can you suggest a better action camera that would work with the DJI mic 2 system and still provide a good colour profile as well. I have no love for the GoPro’s so would easily consider something else, DJI Action 4 or Insta 360 Ace Pro maybe.
Action 4 is the way to go
DJI Action 4 if you want the widest FOV - Ace Pro if you could take advantage of some more versatility like the clarity zoom crop feature. What kind of audio are you recording? If the mic is on you then you can tuck it under your clothes to protect it from rain. Or, use a lav mic and have the transmitter somewhere sheltered.

Did you encounter any hum when you plug third party lavalier into the DJI Mic 2 transmitters? The DJI mic 1 has trouble with Rode lavalier in your Mic 1 review.

Thanks , as always , for the fantastic video. Now, here is a question about the DJI MIC 2 with the Pocket 3. If you have 2 up the DJ I Mic 2 connected via Bluetooth to the Pocket 3 and you are set to stereo, then what happens when you only turn on 1 of the microphones? At that point, does it just record one channel or does it record the same audio to both channels? I think I would probably want to get a second mic for our beer Vlogs, and normally use it in stereo with both mics. But I would want to be able to just turn on one of the mics and not have to worry about switching settings to have audio on both channels. What are your words of wisdom and experience here?

Mine arriving today. Interestingly, you can pair the Mic 2 with iPhone via Bluetooth also. This is how I'll likely use it more often when using my phone.
Yup, bluetooth to your phone and you can start-stop video recording with the transmitter too. It's a great addition.
If i just buy transmitter for 99 and connect with bluetooth is there any issue ?
Should work, that what DJI did with the Pocket 3 Creator Kit. They just checked in one of the transmitters to pair directly with the Pocket 3. Should work with the Action 4, probably will work with the GoPro Hero 12 (I've seen people connect a few random BT mics to it), MIGHT work with the Ace Pro? (Apparently it does work according to Zander Round on youtube).

I think it's the Insta360 "Mini 2 in 1" selfie stick that came out with eat Action 2? IIRC
It's actually a mini tripod that DJI no longer sell. However, the key piece is the Action 2 magnetic ball head mount at the top - you can still buy this.
The worst thing about the first version is how easy it was to accidentally format the unit if I forgot to lock the screen. Happened to me once!
Just to clarify, RX was on the hotshoe and while looking through the EVF, somehow my forehead touched the screen twice in just the right place! 😬
Please tell me that they have buried the format option deeper in the menu. 😂

The rode 32 bit float sounds better..it has the locking mechanism....the dead cat is all black ...and yes I'm a DJI mic 1 user but I am going with the rode this time !
What I want to know is without internal recording if that self noise to camera is still an issue and has battery life been improved any. When I tested the DJI mic on my studio channel without the use of internal recording it was 6 hours.
Love fhe new features. I was really annoyed recording in an apartment with some slight background noise and I could swear it picked up the background sound louder than I hear it.
So once again, monitoring audio from your DAW or Video Software, can you use the headphone out to do direct monitoring thru from the software? Or is it like the version 1 still and only monitors audio from the mic inputs? This is a perpetual problem for those of use who use iPad as our main device rather than laptops which requires an external audio device.
I see the receiver turning off as the camera turns off. Does the transmitter do the same? I mostly do vlogs and this will be a great way to save battery

I've been drooling over 32bit float mics for a few years.
However as I do this for a hobby and have the Rode Wireless 2 setup I can't justify selling my kit when the Backup channel and prudent use of listening to the audio is working.
However if I did this for a living then it's a no brainer to get 32bit float.
Now Rode or DJI?

Sure thing. Amazing products but it's 'just' a microphone at the end of the day, i.e. a tool to achieve a desired purpose. Rode Wireless 2 is still fantastic.
@@DroneFilmGuide of all your kit, over the years what camera and mic would be at the top of your list respectively?
The camera can have wings or be earthbound and hand held.
For me, it would be my G9m2 and the RODE NTG mic respectively. The DJI mini 4 would come in very close, simply because it is so fun and gets interesting perspectives.
Any info on latency? DJI mic 1 was about 1 frame off compared to Rode being hardly detectable. Wondering if it's any better on this newer version.

The DJI mic 2 is not an improvement over the mic 1 in terms of sound quality. Quite the opposite actually. The mic 2 sounds muffled and thin and has odd artifacts baked into the audio. I believe it is a step backward in terms of sound quality. Maybe they can fix it with firmware updates, but I’ll take clean and crisp audio out of the box over great functionalities any day and the mic 2 doesn’t presently deliver on that note. Just my humble opinion for what it is worth. It is with great disappointment that I have returned my DJI mic 2.
Does it allow the two transmitters to record two separate soundtracks on an iPhone, if receiver is connected via lightning plug?
Yup. Pretty sure it's just one via bluetooth but 2 if you use the lightning connector.
They didn't. The DJI mic 1 transmitter sounds significantly better than the mic 2.

Great Video thanks! Quick question: I get how you sync audio using the internal file to the waveform from your cameras mic but how did you do it with a drone? Are you just manually syncing in post and lining up the video file with the audio file? Just interested in how you did it :) thanks
Great question! It's just done manually. I do a big, visible clap at the start of the drone footage so I can match the peak in the Mic's waveform with the visual of my hands coming together in the drone shot.

I’ll try doing that with my other videos as I find the sync option in DaVinci is brilliant but not all of the time so that’s a full proof method I knew about but have never used. Thanks for all the great videos to date, it’s a great channel and I’ve learned a huge amount.
How many Mic's can be syncd to the recevier? Can you have one recevier on your main camera and mic up 3 ppl from that one ?

I know it cannot transmit 32-bit float, but it would be nice to have a backup track recorded at 32-bit in case the transmitted track clips. For instance shooting loud automotive/motorcycle content etc.
Absolutely. Exactly what you say - record the 32-bit audio internally in the transmitter whilst simultaneously sending audio to the OA4, smartphone, Pocket 3 etc...
