Awesome video! Have three of the ST 300, a Surge and an OHT. Been wanting a smaller version of the 300 and just bought the Rebar in tan and black a week ago and it's on it's way. Thanks for sharing.
The Leatherman Bond is a good UK legal multi tool. It also doesn’t have scissors and lacks the saw and serrated blade of the Rebar. In my opinion a combination of the Bond and other SAK Huntsman would be an excellent, if bulky, UK legal toolset that would do most urban and camping tasks.
I do like the Huntsman. I'll take a look at he Bond. I am not sure I am a Leatherman guy though. I am working on an alternative minitoolkit to replace this and have a couple of options in mind. I just have a couple of videos to finish off first
I like your video, I carried a cheap multitool for a few years until my Daughter and Son in law bought me a Leatherman Kick for Christmas which came with a Micra as a bonus. I loved it and was able to come across another set just like it, which I also bought. These kept me satisfied for about 18 years or more. I never thought about seeing what else was available. I eventually broke the jaw of the pliers (freak accident) so I checked on the Leatherman site and filed a claim and sent the Kick in which Leatherman replaced the jaws or either sent me a new pair. In the mean time I got out the other set and started using it. Again, ( probably years later) I broke the pliers jaw, ( another freak accident) . So I filed another claim and they replaced it with a Wingman and told me that they retired the Kick. Wow, a more expensive set than the Kick! I haven't carried it since I have the other Kick to use. I , like yourself didn't use the knife blade much since I carry a regular Knife all the time. I really use the pliers the most and the wire cutters , then the Phillip screwdriver , and also the smallest straight blade screwdriver. I didn't know about the wire strip until recently. A few weeks ago I dropped my Kick behind a panel wall while doing some plumbers work so I got out my Wingman to use until I got the Kick back. I really felt lost without the Leatherman Kick on my side. In the mean time I got on ebay and searched what was out there. I ended up getting a Rebar, and a Bond. It wasn't until later that I found out about the Super tool 300 which I wished I had bought instead. They have a better built pliers head, one extra flat blade screwdriver, (small one) than the Rebar. They are about a 1/2 longer than the Rebar which I like. I never worried about the weight of the tool since I carry a Kobalt folding utility Knife, 2 sets of Leathermans, a pocketknife, small measuring tape, a Leatherman Micra , a chain wallet , a cell phone hostler on my side along with pocket change, etc., etc. So I'm use to carrying alot on me anyway. So, now I have 5 Leathermans which I may thin the herd soon. I may later get the Super tool 300. I don't use the scissors and I don't have use for the small screwdriver the Wave and others have. I did buy a cheap multitool which had the adapter to use extra bits so I carry the adapter and bits now with my Kick. I'm not thrilled with the shape of the Phillip that is on the Wingman since I got use to the better one on the Kick, Bond, Rebar and the Super tool 300. I haven't really put it to the test yet to see how well it works. But it looks like it would strip the screw out before loosing it. (I may be wrong) . But I will say the Wingman is a smooth opening set for sure and the shape design is growing on me. I just bought a Leatherman Rev off ebay so I will see if it opens as smooth as the Wingman. That's not the reason I bought it but I have some grandchildren that are starting to carry a multi tool so I will probably give one to them. Anyway, I never try to abuse my Leatherman and of course I believe in taking care of my many tools. I have looked a lot and other brands of multi tools but I haven't seen any good enough for me to want to try them. I'm pretty much sold on the Leatherman, (warranty, location and time of the repair, etc.) I'm glad we don't have the restrictions on what we carry like you do. (No pun intended) I'd be lost without carrying my Leatherman on my side! An old saying from a TV Commercial say, " Don't leave home without it"
Wow a big leatherman fan. I prefer a Swiss army knife and Knipex pliers - but I don't use the pliers a lot. Locking blades can't be carried in the UK unless needed for work - so I don't carry the Rebar much...
@folksurvival Thanks. I have seen that and may get one eventually. My Rebar was a gift from my sons - so I want to keep it. I have been looking at some options for a pocket toolkit in some other videos you might find interesting.
The Surge looks good, but expensive. Unfortunately in the UK we cannot legally carry locking knives in public without a legitimate reason (needed for work) which rules out most of the Leatherman multi tools
Recently my first Leatherman tool is a Surge. Great strong tool to use. Am planning to get a Rebar with customised laser engravings perhaps later this year.
I have just purchased a Rebar and I have to say, I am very impressed with it. I have the wingman and also a Swiss Army knife. Can you use any of the accessories that you can purches. Craig.
I think that you can attach some of the bit kits to the Phillips driver using and extender/adaptor. I don't like the Leatherman bits as they are quite soft and prefer to use a separate bit driver th-cam.com/video/tSfwLUkR3Iw/w-d-xo.html
I used to feel that way about the scissors, but not anymore. It would be just the same if they left it like it is. [The "Rebar" has become my EDC tool].
I’m looking for the perfect multitool at the minute, I’m currently a victorinox guy, but the pliers on my deluxe tinker are just not up to it, my list is uk legal, bit adapter, scissors, full size pliers and sub 200 grams
I don’t think you could go wrong with either a Victorinox or a Leatherman. Both offer great tools and functionality that serve a variety of purposes. For me, I used to go back and forth, but ever since I got my Arc, I don’t even check the mail without it on my person. It’s that good.
The big issue for me is only a couple of Leathermans are legal carry in the UK. The locking blades are the problem. So I keep this in my toolbox at home and tend to use proper tools instead. I have a lot of SAKs that I can carry anywhere. The Explorer is my favourite at the moment.
@@MB_EDC The Explorer is fantastic. I used to carry one every day. Leatherman also offers some tools that are compliant with UK’s knife laws, like the Bond. It’s unfortunate that you can’t carry the Arc, as it’s absolutely amazing.
@@Bananeurysm It would be great if they could make an exception for Leatherman multitools. I cannot believe that they have been used much in knife crime. I would love to see the stats on knife type used.
@@MB_EDC I couldn’t agree more. It befuddles me that some people get nervous when someone pulls out a Leatherman… like, it’s a tool. I could understand if it were a Cold Steel Espada XL, but really? Tools make you nervous?
@@Bananeurysm I know. I am wholly against knife crime. But I expect most stabbings are done using kitchen knives or tactical knives. Not locking Victorinox, Buck, Case or Leatherman knives/tools
It is a shame. There is a lanyard ring that pulls out do you could attach a pocket clip to that. But I find those sorts of carry close get in the way on my pocket knives.
Does it say in the law regarding folding pocket must not lock I was stopped by the police about 20 years ago I had small lock knife 2 and a half inches long and they let me go the law says a folding pocket knife with a blade less than 3 inches not to be carried or used in self defense to the best of my knowledge and I'm not 100% sure about this it does not say anything about ' non locking ' what comes up in the law on self defense is reasonable force but I think you need to check because I'm not sure
I work for the police. There is a lot of bad information out there, including many online retailers marketing the Rebar Knifeless as UK legal. The Rebar EDC/knifeless is not UK legal. The saw is a bit of a grey area, but the scissors and awl are definitely blades and lock. The only two Leathermans that are completely UK EDC legal are the Bond and Micra.

Beautiful and effective multi-tool. I have the coyote black version.
Thanks. Not seen that one, I'll check it out.

I hadn’t considered the saw blade length with regards to the Uk Laws!
Great review, thanks for sharing 😁
Glad it was helpful!
Actually in this case the issue is that the two knife blades, the saw and the file all lock in place.

I think I am more of a Victorinox guy. It doesn’t help that the locking blades in the Rebar mean it isn’t legal carry in public without a good reason.
They still do both options, nylon or leather sheath. You pay a bit more if you order it with the leather sheath.
Thanks - I hadn't seen that option
