I currently own 26 Leathermans. From the original PST to the new Free series P2 and P4. The Rebar gets a lot of pocket time during the week. And the Supertool 300 owns the weekends on the Ranch. Both are indispensable. Nice review Sir.
Holy crap that’s a lot of Leatherman! Good to hear that you love the Rebar as well, you’d be the one to know! I really love it too, recently been carrying the Crunch and I’ve been enjoying it very much as well. Thanks for the comment and for watching! 🤠
I bought a Leatherman wave back in 2016 one day when I first discovered the whole EDC thing and when I had no business owning a Leatherman but now that I'm in school for welding I finally have a purpose for it 😂
Awesome video! Fellow welder / iron worker here. Been carrying a ST300 for years, great multi tool especially when working on highrises or structurals without carrying a bunch of other tools. Dropped it a couple times too, not at extreme heights but enough to scratch, nick and slightly bend the tool. Just got a Rebar in tan and black as a gift, can't wait to carry it. Thanks for sharing brother! 👍
I guess I am old-school because I like the tools on the inside - I don't have the need to access a blade that fast with a multi-tool. I have an original PST and the Rebar and Super Tool 300 are the modern versions.
Great review, thanks for the effort. I've been planning to replace a lost Leatherman and now I'll for sure look to get the Rebar model. Liked your comment about the sound the sound the blades make when they go into the closed position. Back in the day in East Tennessee I was around some serious pocket knife collectors - they described that crisp sound as a knife having good "Walk and Talk". I use that expression regularly.
I must got a blem, as the tip of one side of the pliers snapped off twisting some electrical wires together. Just recieved my replacement Rebar in the mail, good customer service. Let's hope the new one lasts.
Oh wow that’s crazy! Wonder if that was a defect or if you were just cranking on them really hard. 🤷🏻♂️ either way, you’ve got that Leatherman warranty!
I’m also a welder, I’m looking into getting a leather for edc. You mentioned having a Surge, how did it compare? I like the streamlined design of the Rebar, but the Surge seems to be a lot beefier, and has main knife blade on the exterior. Curious about your opinion because we probably run into the same day to day needs.
Right on brother! I’ve actually not gotten a Surge yet, but it’s next on my list and will be getting one in the next few weeks. But, I can say with complete confidence, the Rebar is up to the task. Like I said in the video, I’ve been carrying and using it for around 5 or 6 years with zero issues. Nothing has broken or bent, I love it. The reason I want a Surge, is mainly the access to the tools on the outside. With the Rebar you gotta open it up to get a tool out. And its beefier like you said, but I’m pretty hard on the Rebar and it’s stood up to everything I’ve thrown at it. If you wanna spend the extra money, I’d go Surge. But for $75 or whatever the Rebar is, you can’t go wrong. Hope that was helpful. 🤠
Interesting I always use the awl for the pry tool. I use the screw drivers for screw drivers. I use the file all the time for thread ends that get buggered.
@@doodysdaggers well i use mine mostly in the woods camping and the plyers are probably the least used part. I guess it depends on your preferances. Also the surge has a much nicer rounded handle i think the rebar kinda hurts if you do use the plyers with some force.
I’m going out on a limb here, and guess you’re a welder😜 They packed a lot into the Rebar. Me being a “collection collector”, I’ve got 12 Leatherman’s. My goal is the get one of each model, I think they are up to over 30 now. It was my love for multitools and gadgets that lead me into the world of high end folding knives. My 1st Leatherman was the 2nd Gen PST, labeled “LEATHERMAN TOOL” dated 0397. I used the sh!t out of this thing and it is still tight and will perform like new. 👍🤘
@@doodysdaggers I own a restaurant, and have a full line of tools there, so I don’t need anything robust. My EDC Leatherman is the BOLSTER, which is a Cost Co exclusive. It’s a slim down version of the lighter duty WINGMAN. It was $45 and still are available. The others are just part of the collection. I pull them out on occasion and work the tools and simply admire the complexity and design genius. Crazy, I know. I plan on picking up another Skeletool CX for EDC.
@@Richard_Cranium_Daily haha nah that’s not crazy. I have a few knives that I don’t really use, I just like holding them and caressing them. 😂 I’ve never tried a Skeletool! That’s one that I’ve been really wanting to get. I’ve seen some pretty cool customizations for it.
@@doodysdaggers No, it’s a bit crazy. I just did a count. I’ve got 170+ knives and multitools, with 150 being knives, mostly folders. Of that 150, I have 9 users: 6 beaters and 3 upper end knives. I’ve never owned one but I’m curious what the differences are between that and the Rebar. Looks like they are really similar, but the super tool is $150
I bought mine off of the Leatherman site for about $120 USD said and done. It’s basically everything the rebar has plus more. It comes with a bit extension, bit changer tool, with the bit assortment. That sold me over the rebar.
I hope the Rebar lasts you a while but sounds good haha. Only thing I wish it had was the T shank blade adapter that the surge has, then it would be the ultimate tradesman’s tool.
I like it but I can't twist my nozzle off for my welding gun Make the plyers big anough for a welding gun also have different variants For different types of welders and sizes If anyone else agrees like this comment
I have considered one of these for edc in pocket because it’s about as light as i’ve seen for a full size leatherman but i don’t think i would use it enough to justify the weight or price.
These will last you a lifetime for a onetime 80 usd purchase. I am in the same boat where I don't really use these kinds of tools daily or even weekly. But I always go for a cheap knock off multitool whenever I need it and they often did the job okay. But after nearly breaking the second one I thought I'd buy the real thing. No regrets so far.
@@annekedebruyn7797 Since posting that I got a sog powerpint. It's not near the quality of the leatherman, but the size is perfect for the way I carry. If leatherman still sold a juice with scissors that would be my ideal carry.
