I think alot of the confusion for Americans comes from accent and the pronunciation of some words. For instance, he thought the video was saying "marry" until he figured the context out. Another thing that most American TH-camrs don't realize is that being "Maori" and being from New Zealand are two different things; not everyone from New Zealand are Maori, but every Maori is from New Zealand. The same as saying every Cherokee, Sioux, & Apache Indian are American, but not every American is Cherokee, Sioux, or Apache.
@cwell510 not every Māori is from New Zealand. Like Cook Island Māori ain’t. A lot of Maori are born and breed elsewhere too. They got Maori blood but don’t speak nothing líke they would in NZ
when maori say "mean as" they're basically describing or praising something in the superlative. "chur" is used when someone is amazed.
