There have been three capitals since New Zealand was colonized. First Russell then Auckland and now Wellington since 1865. I bet if the US had missed Japan when it was b@mbed at the end of the second world war Australia might have had a near miss.
Auckland used to be the capital at one stage back in da day, but to be more centralized it was move to Wellington. You algud you gave it a go. Auckland is the Largest city though. Love how you Rep Aotearoa New Zealand!!!
Im Born in raised new New Zealand I dont even expect anyone else in the world to know what new zealand is lol I thought auckland was the capital till a few years ago
New Zealand was named after dutch explorer abel tasman landed there in 1642 zeeland means sea land in dutch and there was a province named zeeland in holland. Captain James Cook landed in NZ in 1769 and claimed it for Britain he anglicised the name to New Zealand. The Maori were the first people to land in NZ in the late 13th century naming it Aotearoa which translates to land of the long white cloud.offical languages are maori, english and deaf sign language. There was a vote on a changing the flag in 2016 and majority voted to keep it. Wellington is capital because it was in the middle of the country, safe harbour and geographical suitability.
New Zealand is the name the british officially gave it when we signed the treaty of waitangi and were colonized, but the original name given by the maori is "Aoetearoa" pronounced ow - te - ah - row - ah which translates to "land of the long white cloud" because when maori first discovered NZ all they saw was a giant white cloud that spanned as far as they could see across the land so they named it accordingly. Love the videos man keep it up whether is about NZ or not I'm always a fan brother!
To be fair, Auckland was the capital from 1840-1865. The reason Wellington was chosen for the capital was because its central location, and that if the capital remained in Auckland there was fears that the south island would break away and become its own colony.
Also you know alot about NZ which is so cool. I REALLY appreciate you :) p.s I'm really obese like alot of Maori :) but we don't feel bad about some one calling us obese :) can't wait for when you come to NZ. We'll make sure you have a good time !!
Bruh I was an exchange Student in Brazil in the year 2003-2004 when people asked where I'm from I told them NZ and they said oh that's the capital of Australia🤦♀️😭😂but with the amount of kiwis living here in Australia it may aswell be lol
Auckland was the second capital from 1841 until 1865, it's also the biggest city here in New Zealand... It's sweet as that you got it wrong, we feel the love from you... Enjoying your uploads, much love...
Big brother😂😂what are you on about. They got Fuck all over there fibro houses and outdoor piss ups🤦🏻♂️ love ya my moari bros just keepin it real wild him
The Capital of NZ I remember reading somewhere that in 1841, Auckland was made the capital of NZ. But during this time the Treaty of Waitangi had just been signed (1840) and as NZ was steadily growing and more the country was in the state of being colonised, some years later, the government was worried how the local governing bodies in the South Island was growing and out of fear of Self Autonomy, that the South Island would establish their own government and break away from being governed by the capital in Auckland, The NZ government moved the capital as close to the South Island as they could to squash any ideas of that happening. Which made Wellington the new capital since 1865.
He aha e hoa ... Don't worry! Everyone thinks it's Auckland. Fun fact though, it used to be Russell when we were founded and then Auckland for a little while but those in the south island felt away away from everything they changed it to Wellington. 🙂 Kiaora from Wellington. P.s. it would be great if it was the NZ Rubble 😉😉 Also, Australia has some much slang,v"Australian" is a language 😊
New Zealand and Australia are a huge distance - 4155 km apart. (France to England is only 1092 km). So that shows you the mighty distance in comparison between New Zealand and Australia.
First capital of NZ was Russell and then Auckland before they moved it to Wellington. Reason being that in the old days, it'll take politicians about a month of travel to get to meetings in Russell and 2 weeks to get to Auckland from the bottom of the south island. So dead bang in the middle seem perfect for everyone is my understanding from school lol.
New Zealand is Australia’s little brother, I’m nz born & bred but I have to give the credit when it’s due, no place can ever beat New Zealand’s vibe, diversity and energy - they also have the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, but living wise Australia is a lot more better then nz, Australia offers a lot more opportunities job wise, money wise & even education wise, hence why a lot of kiwis make the move. I moved here a year ago, and as much as I miss home, I’ve never regretted my decision, though some of the people here need to lighten up a little 🥴
That depends where you are living in Australia! In the big city's of course there are more opportunities. Just like there are more opportunities in Auckland, than in other NZ city's. Since Auckland is NZs biggest city! Simaler in size and population to Perth Western Australia. However go to Darwin Hobart or Alice Springs in Australia. And you won't find the same opportunities as in Sydney or Melbourne or Perth! Or even the same prices. Education is much the same! Its relative. Australia has more universities, but they are shared between 25 million people. Whereas proportionately shared between 5 million people. NZ has much the same number of universities! Like wise with economics. You can't just compare 1 country with another. There are variables that have to be factored in. The reality is. Some things are dearer in NZ while other things are cheaper! Likewise some innovations are up and running in NZ ahead of Australia, while others aren't! Innovations are often adopted faster in NZ, because the country has 1 Central - National Government. While Australia has a Federal Government, plus 7 State Governments. With all the additional bureaucratic systems that involves. And Australia has a higher level of national debt, as a percentage of the size of its economy, ie - gross domestic product (gdp). Than NZ does. So comparisons are often swings and roundabouts. In many ways a more relevant measure is to compare NZ with the Australian States. In relative terms, overall its much the same! And i have lived in various places in both countries!
Avoiding the state/ federal system makes govt a lot better. Australia's 6 states is a total mess.... got to be a lot better than the USA dealing with 50 extra governments!!! And they are supposed to be the anti-govt control freedom lovers! WTF?
As a fellow kiwi, theres alot of misunderstandings with our culture and the way we live, we may be one of the newer colonized countries but theres definitely alot more than 10 people in new zealand and how native kiwis ( the maori people ) were treated, my grandmother was beaten by teachers and officers at the time that were part of british colonies into not speaking our native language and also for practicing our culture. Also nelson in new zealand was the first town that was founded by the british and the first ever school was built in the town called wakefield which is just outside of nelson city. Only difference between Australias flag and New Zealands flag is new zealands flag doesnt have the large star.
Wellington is the capital... back like a million years ago Auckland use to be the capital... It make more sense because Wellington is in central part of NZ... Wellington is the 3rd largest city, Christchurch is the second largest city and Auckland is the largest with 1.6 million inhabitants

Auckland New Zealand was the capital of new Zealand. It was changed long ago to Wellington New Zealand. As Wellington is home to our central government and of course central new Zealand.
