      I'm from New Zealand myself, but I can only understand about half of the Aussie slang. I'd say our slang is much closer to UK slang than Australian.

    It dead ass took me so long to understand slang here but the one thing I was told is to not over think the words because they aren’t literal. These slangs are just expressive words that just get thrown around but once you get the hang of it they sound normal to you bro. Your reaction to this is exactly what I was expecting bruh 🤣

    Aussies sound nothing like us!! However in saying that, l lived in Aus for 8 years, and there are a range of distinct accents over there.
    It all depends on where one is from, and how one is raised; just the same as in the States.
    The biggest difference with Australia is the class divide. Australia have people they call boggen’s and Feral’s.
    OMG 😱 the first time l heard a feral Australian accent l was shocked. A feral is what us kiwis call ‘trailer trash’.
    I will say that Americans are getting better at picking out the Kiwis from the Aussies.
    When l first travelled through North American years ago, most people didn’t even know where New Zealand was.
    On my last visit to New York, l would be asked to keep talking so they could decide if l was an Aussie or a Kiwi.
