Boy, I think you just talked me out of getting the Tonex pedal. It sounds like it’s a royal pain in the ass. No pedal or software should be that complicated to use and I already know contacting IK Multimedia is literally impossible. Thanks Doug. 😂
Thanks for the pathway step.Saved me a major headache.Never would've figured that out on my own.Probably still be on my computer having a proper meltdown.
Agree it's fiddly and not intuitive. But... having figured mine out and loaded captures from Amalgam and Tone Junkie, it's sounding way better than my Helix or Quad Cortex or Kemper. A bargain for the money.
@@DougBsDigitalDen it's amazing how these packs are SO MUCH better than the factory loaded ones. I'm about to buy an Axe FX: wanted one for years but couldn't afford it. Now I can: can't wait to compare to the TONEX !
I am experiencing the same problems as you mentioned. I can operate the pedal with any issues, but software is my problem. I downloaded tonex max , but have no idea how to get into it, also have no idea how to get into the library. I never experienced such difficulty before. So far I’m still struggling, I will try to follow your steps in your presentation to see if I get success. Thanks for the presentation!
In my opinion you do have to be a little tech savvy to get the Tonex software installed and running, but its like any other involved software. Its more than installing a new VST plugin. However, my main gripe with the software is its lack of organiz-ability for all the captures. Give me a file/folder like structure! Secondly, there is no editor for the Tonex pedal. Yes, you can edit presets, but you can't edit the pedal preset from the software. Also, I find the lack of a low pass and high pass filter a major oversight (the high and low shelves can't accomplish this). You can import custom IRs, but I want to be able to trim down that high and low end on the pedal preset within the pedal or editor. Otherwise, I find the Tonex frequency much more lifelike (like NAM) versus the midrange bias of the Kemper. I'm waiting on the next firmware up to solve these issues. Otherwise, the Tonex comes off my board and the Friedman IR-X goes on the board.
IK makes stuff for computer experts, not for guitar players. It's like the hardware is an afterthought and the software is a nightmare as you described. What a PITA~
for the price and the tone.... Willing to put up with all these things. It's really not that complicated for me TBH. Then again, I'm a bit computer savvy when it comes to this stuff. There are some gripes I have with it but they are minor ones. However, there does need to be a true editor and PLEASE add the ability to port in more than one IR at a time. Other than that... I really don't care. It's really cheap compared to other things AND it sounds better in my opinion.
Usually I am too; I used to be a Senior Programmer/Analyst back in the day, I've built websites straight from HTML, I've worked with MIDI for almost 40 years now, etc. This was just unnecessary, and I know that I'm not the only one that has been frustrated getting ToneX set up. And I agree, I'll put up with it for the price and tone!
AFter watching other videos a HUGE thing on BOUGHT captures that you ADJUST n add VERB n compression is this you MUST save it as a preset NOT Tone Model...That way when u drag it to a slot it is NOT changed.....man alot ta learn lol Oh yeah CREATE A FOLDER for your bought captures.......
Hi -you have to open the ToneX software and click on the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner. It brings you to the Audio Settings tab, and you can set up your input device there. Hope this helps!
Can't stand working with IK MM products for these very reasons (especially TONEX). Not sure they'll ever figure out how to make their software installations easy for the user.
According to the manual (p 13), you can: "PRESET RENAMING & SAVING You can rename and change the PRESETs position to better organize your library by saving them. To save the selected PRESET: 1. Hold the PRESET encoder to access the save mode. 2. The first letter of the name starts blinking indicating the cursor position. 3. Rotate the PRESET encoder to change character, rotate the MODEL encoder to move the cursor. 4. Press the PRESET encoder to confirm the name. 5. A location appears on screen indicating a number (BANK) and a letter (SLOT). 6. Rotate the PRESET encoder to choose a different location. 7. Press the PRESET encoder to confirm the location. 8. The display shows SAVED to confirm the saved PRESET."
does this work without the pedal? seems like some kind of glitch/hacker tool to make you buy a pedal and then it still doesn't work as per your explanation as to how soo complicated set up is.. as I have downloaded it and spent bunch of time and its still doesn't do anything. seems like I should have just spent money on a guitar pedal and kept working instead of wasting time and money, this world is broken, nothing makes any sense

It was a PITA for sure, but I'm really happy with it now. I just looked at another bunch of great free captures that I'll move to the pedal.
Oh man, thanks for this video! Tonex software - designed by Italians for Italians

I bought 6 packs from amalgam, now it's time for Tone Junkie 👍

I don't own the pedal but thinking to buy it but I want to try the demo first Do you know how to get a audio interface to work with toenex
You could go out of the Tonex into a line input on an audio interface. It's even easier to use USB.
hi
i want to audition presets in the tonex max software on a mac m1 laptop with live guitarinput via a uad apollo iface. how can i best do this?

Is it possible to organize the order of the presets in banks without a computer, I mean, just on the pedal itself?

@@DougBsDigitalDen thanks a bunch!🙏🏽
The install path you listed does not work.
Maybe they changed it with the most recent update, but it was the correct path when I installed the Product Manager.
I didn't get any issues downloading this on my MAC or Windows. I was up and running in 5 minutes lol
Either you were lucky, or I was unlucky. But it's all good now 👍
How easy it is in Fractal Land !! ToneX an the whole Software shit is nothing for me. I am completly satisfied wit my Fractal and Kemper Stuff !!
