Actually there is a statue in the Undead Settlement, where you can request absolution for your sins in exchange for souls, and then you can speak with the blacksmith.
+Keromian I got to that statue, with another profiles in which I didn't kill any Npcs. I spent 3000 souls to clear my souls... but now I ask myself... for what? To become beautiful again? ;D
+Shinji72 You can request absolution and dissolution. Dissolution clears your hollowing levels, so you can become pretty again, it has no other values. With absolution friendly npcs whom you attacked before become peaceful again, like the blacksmith.

Kind of irritates me how they just fold over and die. In Dark Souls if you try to fight that dude at Firelink Shrine he's likely to hand you your ass on a plate. They don't get mad, they don't give a damn. Living to serve you. It's so narcissistic. Least Andre stands up for himself, but I would have hoped he was more of a threat. Hawkwood for sure should have been more dangerous. At least as dangerous as the random outside of Firelink with the Uchigatana.

When my younger brother entered the shrine on his first playthrough he immediatly attacked the Firekeeper, thinking if it was an NPC, he wouldnt be able to hurt her. Man i panicked so hard
The way to get forgiveness from everyone is to get the Mortician's Ashes, then give it to the Shrine Handmaiden and buy the Graveyard Key, I believe. Open the locked door in the Undead Settlement sewers with the giant rat and take an immediate right. There's a statue that you can either get forgiveness for killing an NPC or reverse the Hallowing for a lot cheaper price then buying a Purging Stone.
I watched a TH-cam video that told me it was a good idea to kill all your NPCs before new game plus so you could see what they dropped and that the Fire Keepers drop was especially interesting. I was curious to see what he meant and followed his advice, killing all my NPCs after I beat the Soul of Cinder for the first time. I regretted this instantly. At this point I only had a few NPCs left since I had completed as many questlines as I could, but even though the number was smaller, hearing the cries and curses of the few NPCs, no, the few friends I had left who had stuck around to the very end only to be betrayed by the man they were willing to give up their lives for, it broke me. It gives me some closure knowing Andre, The Handmaiden, and the Firekeeper all probably came back to life the second I left, but still, Karla, Irina, Cornyx, they all died needless deaths, for what, so I could get their clothes and a few items formed from their ashes for my next lifetime? I felt awful. Karla calling me cruel was especially painful, finding this girl who had suffered most of life, giving her some temporary hope, only to give her a painful death in the end, it hurt, and it hurt bad. And to top it all off the Fire keeper didn't even drop anything. So yeah, when it comes to killing all your NPCs for New Game+ I say that it's terrible advice, 0/10, would not recommend, will not try again. I hope my old friends are doing alright in heaven.
