I swapped my bezel and upper dash/dash handle with the escalade vinyl wood grain version. Super simple swap and matched perfect with my tan and gray. Chompers coming along super sweet man you've got great taste.
To get a better fitment for the radio you need to remove that metal brace in the back of the dash behind the radio and you can put all the harness back there. Also, you can put the GPS antenna under the dash in the same place because its not a line of sight antenna like Satellite radio, and you will still have great signal. I would also recommend putting the bluetooth mic by the rear view mirror, that way if you or any passengers would like to talk through bluetooth, they can. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I myself have a pac unit. After doing some digging the pac units are known to cause noises in you higher frequencies in your speakers. It does it to mine in Bluetooth. I have wired CarPlay and the whining stops.
Let's go! These mods make such a big difference. Stoked to see what skars you got. I have a 12 and love it and I think you will be pleased with whatever you got!
Crutchfield is amazing. They've taken care of me for many years. Nice job on the installation. In my 2012 Silverado, I didn't like the sound of the PAC speaker for the blinkers, so I got the IDatalink Maestro RR to interface with my Sony XAV-AX210 radio. It even has performance gauges, and I added a mirror link and HDMI converter to one of my camera inputs so I can screen mirror from my phone.
binging all your stuff. been upgrading my base model and added the overhead console with onstar microphone (you've got the black mic in the middle too). if your microphone cable is long enough, there's more sound deadening in the center.
I have the Kenwood DMX706S head unit in my Cheverolet Silverado and I Love it. It is the wired apple car play but I use a Cplay2air, wireless CarPlay devise for your radio to ditch the wire from radio to phone. I really like that, but the only thing that I don’t like about the apple CarPlay thing, is that it takes forever to open and sometimes it disconnects and then you have to reconnect. That radio that you have is one that I was looking at as well, but I don’t use apple car play that much that my car audio installer suggested me to go with the wired version. I just use the Bluetooth audio button or the iPod button to connect to my iPhone and it works great. Either way, you do have great taste and i too Love Kenwood and always have and will. Good luck
I have a boss audio unit bcp62-rc with wired CarPlay and a volume knob. Those are two features I was really looking for. I did a bunch of research on them and liked this one the most. It has been in for 7 months and performs great.
I had a Bose system in mine as well . I had box to run the factory amplifier and steering controls . It’s worth it for the volume control. You don’t have to reach over.
I would recommend using the X-Over option it helps with distortion when turning it up more. I have an 04 with 4 8” subs in a ported box and it is amazing play super low and i definitely would opt for it any day over 10s or 12s
I told you our trucks are identical. Only difference is rims and tires and obviously cam. But I went a month ago to the day with the kenwood excelon 907s. Wired and wireless carplay. As well as wireless mirroring. And the mini hdmi. Also through on a compustar 7900as remote start. With the ezgoII walk up proximity sensor for compustar
I would love to see some 20by 9 chrome snowflake reps on chomper with some 33’s thinking of getting that exact setup and would love to see it on ol chomper
Looks great!! My shorty bullet antenna lost some reception… but looks over function?!! 😂 Can’t wait to see what’s in the box… L…A…R…R…Y…!!! Needs some upgrades?? Future video??…
For balancing those tires you can always try balance beads in the tires. Some places actually recommend those for swampers anyway if you go that route.
I recently discovered a cool trick with these radios on the wall a paper settings if you would be interested I could walk you through it, just is neat to have a picture of the truck as the wallpaper on the radio
when you put the subs in your going to need to go through a process called breaking them in id recommend looking it up breaking them in will make it less likely to blow the subwoofers.
I know I'm late but I always like a good head unit. Kenwood is really good. I usually go with pioneer and I have apple car play and android auto which I nice to have since my car is a 5 speed manual.
Go to your settings and should be on visual and click turn off demo or something like that so those little images dont pop up when your not connected to Apple CarPlay
I'm not a fat tires guy --- I need practical tires for the snow here in Montana. Since they don't make Astro rims any more ---I'll stay with the stockers and some pizza cutter tri-peak 245-17 snowflakes in 10-ply 'E' rated tires.
If you don’t have the steering wheel controls call crutch field they will walk you through it I had problems with the steering wheel controls with that pac unit but they got it worked out.
Looking forward to the days when people start putting in stereos with all the buttons to replace ugly factory stereos that are all screens. Damn travesty that you commenters talked him into this! BUT, awesome job with the instructional video!
Anytime I used PAC it ends up sounding like the door chime speaker was submerged in water. I invested in one of those idatalink maestro’s and they are pretty nice. Even shows some gauges on the stereo screen as well. Chomper is too sick
My tweeters have a little static when nth is playing like you said nth major and goes away when music is playing…could be just a tweeter thing from the high frequencies they use
How did you not have to buy a new dash bezel like a lot of the other TH-cam guys? I like that you were able to keep the factory tan bezel. Nice installation
Wiring a head unit is time consuming and harsh on your body. Leaning over,Huntching over really puts a toll on your back and ribs wears your body out fast. Wiring is easy. The leaning over and hunching over ain't. Make sure u do your research on what type of subs to use in your truck and what kind of amp in your truck. My preference would be Skar 10",12" subs. Taramps 2k-5k and a box that fits under your seat and you'll be all set
Yes you would if you want to keep steering wheel controls but if you don’t want that you can go with the basic harness and it’ll all work besides steering wheel controls. As long as you don’t have Bose I believe.
I've got an 05' sierra with the kenwood 7706s I think and it has a little static but only when I'm on the radio * with the fog lights on?? Just a thought
I'm looking at the DMX8709S myself and this is the only video I have found on it. It looks like it checks all of the boxes for me.. I wish the splash welcome screen was customize-able... Would you recommend it for the money?
Give me a shoutout but I got a 05 gmc sierra and instead of buying the PAC adapter there is a Bose amp cable hidden to the right ! I saved myself money!
Crutchfield has never done me wrong. Those wiring harnesses are a life saver.
That’s a fact crutchfield is my go to
I swapped my bezel and upper dash/dash handle with the escalade vinyl wood grain version. Super simple swap and matched perfect with my tan and gray. Chompers coming along super sweet man you've got great taste.
The escalade dashes are a hit or miss nowadays. But personally the platinum dashes look super good since they're black

Man that thing looks beautiful with those rims
I myself have a pac unit. After doing some digging the pac units are known to cause noises in you higher frequencies in your speakers. It does it to mine in Bluetooth. I have wired CarPlay and the whining stops.

Be good for him to get either vd10’s or some evl 8’s front facing with some grills
I agree! Looks from the box like he got the low profile under the seat type.
Bought a 2006 lbz 2 years ago and first thing I did was the head unit. I wanted the google maps for when I tow my camper. Also added a back up camera.

I really miss having one of these. Truck looks awesome man, keep the wides on
Planning on doing something similar to my 06 Tahoe, just I’m in high school and don’t have the funds to dump $500 into a $4000 truck 😂
binging all your stuff. been upgrading my base model and added the overhead console with onstar microphone (you've got the black mic in the middle too). if your microphone cable is long enough, there's more sound deadening in the center.

Love it. I’m upgrading the audio in one of my cars right now too. I can’t wait to see your sub setup
Got super excited when i saw what was sittin in the back seat😮💨
I had a Bose system in mine as well . I had box to run the factory amplifier and steering controls . It’s worth it for the volume control. You don’t have to reach over.
Best wheel and tire combo yet🔥🔥🔥
Love the head unit! Been waiting for the subs since you installed the door speakers!
I would recommend using the X-Over option it helps with distortion when turning it up more. I have an 04 with 4 8” subs in a ported box and it is amazing play super low and i definitely would opt for it any day over 10s or 12s
also, adding a ground from the back of the head unit to frame could help with the buzzing, especially if you start adding amps
I wonder if you bypass the Bose system would that eliminate the static in the speakers
@@egertonridout4102 I wonder the same thing but I also wonder how to bypass it 😅

Love the videos trying to make my 04 Sierra as clean as yours
I’ve got the same welds on my 99 single cab short bed Chevy and I love it
The instal looks awesome. Enjoy.👍🏾
I would love to see some 20by 9 chrome snowflake reps on chomper with some 33’s thinking of getting that exact setup and would love to see it on ol chomper
that’s the most basic shit i’ve ever heard
@@trixie1k may be basic but it sure as hell looks good
@@05cateye96 Looks gay
Looks great!! My shorty bullet antenna lost some reception… but looks over function?!! 😂
Can’t wait to see what’s in the box…
L…A…R…R…Y…!!! Needs some upgrades?? Future video??…
I put the Kenwood DNR1007XR in my 06 Silverado so I have a 10.1 screen only downside is the shifter handle is real close to the screen
If its static from the radio try using a ground loop isolator for your antenna
For balancing those tires you can always try balance beads in the tires. Some places actually recommend those for swampers anyway if you go that route.
31s would look sick
I got a alpine ILX-407 radio for my frontier, and it’s wired apple car play but I love it had it for almost a year now
I recently discovered a cool trick with these radios on the wall a paper settings if you would be interested I could walk you through it, just is neat to have a picture of the truck as the wallpaper on the radio

finally getting subs for it👍👍👍👍👍 would recommend audiopipe for a box but if it's under the seat would stick to kicker or skar or sundown
I’m trying to decide on getting a new Silverado or one of these older ones. I’m leaning more towards one of these
I highly recommend getting a steering wheel adapter for it, makes it so much easier to change songs, volume, and input, while driving.
Thats awesome can't wait to see the speaker setup
Go to your settings and should be on visual and click turn off demo or something like that so those little images dont pop up when your not connected to Apple CarPlay
Beautiful Truck 🔥😎👍🖤🖤🖤
If your wanting the tires cleaned up definitely go get some wise guy by shine supply. Will make them look brand new + there decked out tire shine
Look at the tsl blemish list, a bunch of tires that have numbers rubbed off or something at a bigggg discount
What tire size and wheel offset are those? Also love the sound. Would love to make my 2006 Sierra 2500 6.0 sound the same
I'm not a fat tires guy --- I need practical tires for the snow here in Montana. Since they don't make Astro rims any more ---I'll stay with the stockers and some pizza cutter tri-peak 245-17 snowflakes in 10-ply 'E' rated tires.
Get a touchscreen for Larry
Looks good.
Where did you source the instrument cluster??? Looks really sharp… I have a 2004.. would like to upgrade the cluster…?….
If you don’t have the steering wheel controls call crutch field they will walk you through it I had problems with the steering wheel controls with that pac unit but they got it worked out.

Oh yeah that’s a nice head unit
That truck is so clean...
Awesome head unit man
How did you not have to buy a new dash bezel like a lot of the other TH-cam guys? I like that you were able to keep the factory tan bezel. Nice installation
the static could be because the RCA cable is to close to the power wire it causes interference.
Any plans for the Aux xm module adapter you previously installed?
Banger videos, how tha boots bub😂
Never disappoints😅
is it a little slanted? the trim looks a little crooked. other than that it looks great! such a beautiful truck!

I’d love to see you pickup a 9th gen f150 one day
Hey man looks sick matches the truck
This is off topic but those gauges you installed look great
should have kept that wheel setupp its soo damn good
keep it up.
I had static in my 03 Tahoe when I replaced my factory head unit and it turned out to be my factory amp was kicking the bucket
great video!
Keep the factory radio if you ever sell the truck
I’m from bama and was just wondering how close you were to Oxford
Midway through the video, do you need a steering wheel control retention kit for volume/mute/track/phone answer etc?
Yes you would if you want to keep steering wheel controls but if you don’t want that you can go with the basic harness and it’ll all work besides steering wheel controls. As long as you don’t have Bose I believe.
What size are the wheels on the truck they are nice
what's the lift and wheel/tire combo?
????
Mine only as a tiny bit of static with my head lights on. And they are led . When lights are off I don’t hear it.
Hey brother I was wondering where you got your bezel with the 140 mph speedometer?
I've got an 05' sierra with the kenwood 7706s I think and it has a little static but only when I'm on the radio * with the fog lights on?? Just a thought
What size lift and tires ?
Ready for them subs
Caliper conversion and more lift
Can you put the pedal commander on these model truck
do the volume buttons on the steering wheel still work?
Hi, can you tell me please what rims and tires you are running on that truck please?
My tweeters have static too and I run a kenwood exelon
I know it’s off topic but how much did you pay for your 2000 tundra’s car back exhaust
What kind of rims are these on your truck I would like to get some just like it
I asume your steering wheel controls work like volume seek etc?
Whats the gauges out of did u have to have programing done
Where did you get the dash cluster from
I'm looking at the DMX8709S myself and this is the only video I have found on it. It looks like it checks all of the boxes for me.. I wish the splash welcome screen was customize-able... Would you recommend it for the money?
Hey man very important question does the miles change when you change the cluster
At least when you are connected to carplay it uses your phone microphone, mine try’s to use the build in microphone on my boss touchscreen which sucks
I think if your gojng to keep those wheels on chomper he needs more color match like the mirrors and fender flairs
Head Unit looks crooked in the dash, minor fix.
does ur steering wheel controls work?
What if you don’t have steering wheel controls what wires do I order
Which one is the cheaper version of it?
Take the sides off truck looked better with the Liz rims and tucked in the wheel well.
What exhaust and is that cammed?
You should do a backup camera
will i be abel to do that aux cable on my factory 2002 silverado? oem
Give me a shoutout but I got a 05 gmc sierra and instead of buying the PAC adapter there is a Bose amp cable hidden to the right ! I saved myself money!
