I've finally decided that locs are for me. Tired of wondering what's the next hairstyle and desiring for my hair growth Studied the process, now I'm ready. Can't wait to see my outcome.
@Bonita Sharpe I totally agree with you. I felt the same way. I got my hair coiled a month ago. I went back a second time & I’m pleased with the outcome so far.
The lifestyle question is soooooooooo important!!!! I thought about it for years when I was at a company that wouldn't have been favorable to the early growth and changes that locs go through.....to the point where I got a new job in the hair care/beauty industry so I could go through my journey unbothered. Now, I'm a few weeks in, with all it's fizzy glory, alllllll up in the Zoom calls and it is the best decision I EVER made!!
My loc's are now 17 months old (the teenage stage). I'm having fun with them 😊 I have been going to a location every two months but this time I'm waiting 3 months. I have not really tried to retwist my own hair. I have a nice amount of new growth. I have ordered the interloc tools. I used the whole line of products from Loc God by Nia in New York (also I used Jojoba, coconut, and vitamin E oils). I'm proud of my loc's now. I am 68 and they mingle grey. Just Royal. I like the way you explain how to care for them myself. I need your help to keep me going on my 2 year commitment. I know I will go longer with your help. 👑🌹👑
i had dreads for a little bit but took them out. i’m just educating myself further before i loc it up this weekend. i trust no one with my hair, ill be doing it myself
I have been contemplating locking my hair for over quite some time now, this video is so helpful. I am so glad I found your channel, I have not asked myself a lot of these questions, but they will definitely help me make the best decision. But I have a lot to consider.
i had locs for all of middle school and combed them out the summer before freshman year. at the time they were way to big for my density, so i'm ready to do it right them time and look fine as hell.
i would love that video on sizing! i’m ready to start i’m just waiting for some growth. been researching for a while but i want to be able to express how i want them easily! thank you for your videos!
Same here. I did my second big chop in February. I really want to learn to take care of my loose natural hair before committing to locs. I want to be on my own loctician because of COVID and I am scared of those "wanna be locticians". I love Courtney's videos, I have learned a lot. I wish I lived in the US so she could start them. 🙂
I’m starting my loc journey this year and I watched a couple of your videos and they were very helpful and straightforward,I just need help with product to use on my hair
Thanks for watching!! Check this video out Hydrating Hair Products for Your Locs | LOC/LCO Method - Hydrate Your Locs with Froetry th-cam.com/video/zua-XpFLhzc/w-d-xo.html
I've watched 3 of your videos back to back and I find yiur page very informative. You've answered some of my questions plus given me more to consider. I'll be tuning in regularly as I embark on my journey 🥰
Love this video. I’m a Licensed Master cosmetologist who offers retwists and starter locs services. I just started my loc journey yesterday. I was weary about how I would look with locs, tried coils 20 years ago but I have 2b in the front so it didn’t work out back then. I grew tired of wearing weaves & braids & wanted to give it another shot. This time I chose the two strand method. Your video was very informative as it reassured me that this is the way to go.
My hair is currently relaxed so I'll have to the big chop. I really wanna start my loc journey because I was never taught how to take care of my hair in its natural state and I really wanna go back natural so I think this is the best decision for me.
I started my son's with interlocking and I absolutely love it! He's 4 years in and so cute and easy to maintain. I'm thinking about restarting my journey, when I started it I had the coils because my hair is really soft and curly and I really didn't like it. I'm thinking two strand twist with interlocking to restart.
I’ve contemplated starting my journey for years and I’m finally ready for them. I was told that mine may take a long time to loc up due to my soft texture so I just may start in the fall so I can cover it to help them do their thing!😊
I am ready to come to you right neooow . Based off of your videos you have all of the qualities in a loctician that I am looking for to start my journey😩🤌🏾😮💨🥰 I appreciate you educating your audience 👏🏾
Thank you for this, I've recently decided I want to begin my own loc journey. I'm kinda sure on the parts I like but I'm open to all information, kindly speak more on the methods of starting locs esp 'instant locs'. I'm trying to avoid any gel or wax or anything that causes buildup but still have a nice stable foundation for my locs.
@CourtneyGrayton I have been thinking about getting locs for a while now. I started doing research on Google about them and started wondering if locs would be a good choice for my hair type. I have very thin hair. I know most people with locs have thick hair. I then researched on whether or not twists would be better for my hair type. That’s when I found your video twists vs locs and in that one u suggested to watch this video first to ask yourself questions about which journey to take or whether it is something u should do. I’m the type person who hates doing her hair. As of right now, it short. All natural. I just don’t like to be bothered with it, which is why I wanted the locs. I understand now that there is some maintenance to be done with having locs as well. As I said before, my hair is really thin. Mostly because of using relaxers back in the day. I workout often and tend to sweat a lot so I’m not sure if getting locs or twists would be worth it. What do u recommend for someone like me? Would twists be better or interlocs (don’t know much about those)? I just want to make life easier for me and not have to do my hair on a daily basis. Thanks for the videos. Hope to hear from u soon.
so happy i found you! i’ve decided after doing a big chop on my hair a few years ago that now’s the time to try something new & get locs since i’m growing my hair out. your videos have been really helpful so far, and i would love a vid on sizing. i wish you lived in my area so i could go to you to get started, but oh well 😭
Please do a video on sizing. I am considering this journey. I started locs in 2019, but took them out early 2020 because I was not happy with my look. My hair is fine with a loose curl pattern and has some balding spots. Can my hair type wear locs?
I offer loc start consultations where I’ll walk you through what type/size locs will be best for your hair type, even if I’m not the one to start your locs. You can book that service here: vagaro.com/hairgoalswithcg
Amen!!!! Thank you so much for this video… I wish I would’ve found you before I started mine but you still gave me everything I needed! I’ve been loc’d for 7 months, started with relaxed ends that I would curl. I workout alotttttt and didn’t realize it was the sweat unraveling them! I cut most of the relaxer off today and started interlocking them! This little tool is not for the faint… my fingers are on fire 😔
Thank you for your videos. I have binged three already and feel much more educated. I had locs during the comb coil and beeswax generation. The only other alternative was Sisterlocks which I couldn’t afford. Now with so many options my biggest problem is finding a stylist to start the process. (One stylist wanted me to cash app $30 just to schedule a consultation.) I love your questions we should ask ourselves because I have grappled with these questions myself.
Thanks For Helping me with this. I'm thinking about this new journey. My hair came out a when I became ill 5yrs ago and now I'm trying to see how I can start it to grow back with using my own hair. But this video helped me to figure out some ways ☺️ to start if I wanted to try.
I'm in love with the videos you have posted and I am glad to have come across them. I just started my loc journey about a month ago but I already have some dandruff build up and quite frankly have always struggled with it on my 4C hair and have tried so many different approaches but I'm still kinda stuck and need help on keeping my scalp looking clean throughout this journey. Ugggh please help, TIA!
Hi Courtney! I’m new to your channel and I’m super excited to start my loc journey! Thanks for your helpful tips! Yes! I’m ready! 🤗. One question…Why did you decide to end your loc journey? I love your different looks, but just was wondering. I’m looking forward to watching your videos so that I can have a successful journey. Thank you! 💗
Thank you so much!!!!! I am ready and now after watching 4 of your very informative videos! I will go with the two strand twist or the interlocking because I’m my business meeting! I will be sharing your videos thanks again phenomenal Woman♦️❣️♦️❣️♦️❣️♦️ I appreciate your knowledge and look to purchase your products 💓🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾
Thank u a lot! Wish I can find someone like u in Chicago, I've been searching, and so far one person I felt the vibe was extremely uncaring, which was a definite no, another one may have been too busy and did not respond back as soon as I would have thought, it took a couple of days for him which means he might be too busy, and then another person's info said they make house calls but her pics were of uneven parts that u could clearly see were different sizes, so I will continue to search, but have decided to start them at home, my daughter can start them as two strand or braids😁
Mannnn I’m watching this right after my consultation 😫😫😫😫 she wasn’t really asking me questions and Now I’m on TH-cam trying to figure it out…I live in NC but would you open to a virtual consultation?
I had sisterlocs for about 6 years but maintenance fell off and decided to cut my hair. Now I would like to do something with my hair either interlocking or locs but someone said they didn't advise because my hair is thin. Just need some clarity on this please.
Love the video, I workout a lot I legit just put a hand tie and a cap and work out I really don’t care if it frizzes up I like it not being so tamed and controlled
Hi Courtney, Thank you for your education and the way you professionally carry yourself. Have you thought of writing an ebook or similar? Secondly, I was in the DMV, then LA, now “awakened” in Rwanda 🇷🇼, I cannot come see you for hair care/products, sadly, many Amazon products don’t ship to Rwanda but maybe if you FedEx?
I was just watching this video and it’s very informative because I wanted to start my own locks. Did you already do a video on different sizes of locks large ones small ones micro sister medium? If so, can you send me the link for it? Thank you so much.❤
Hi I had my hair locs for about 8 years and one of my daughters hair is also locs . I want to get more knowledge about are locs like how to maintain, repair, style and how to re twist are locs right . And also how to start locs please. I live in England
I want to start my own locks by myself. I dont trusted any one in my hair before I chop it off. I want to grow my hair back out and start locking it. But I want to do it myself.
@CourtneyGrayton when I had my long think natural hair, I used to wash it and two strange twists all the time. My hair is used to that kind of twists not these other ones I have been watching. I never cream my hair before I am natural hair with mixed with half Indian and jamaican culture. I know it's going to take my hair long to loc because of my pretty texture. I am ready, kind nervous.
Thank u for this video!! I want to get locs soon but just need some growth before I do so in the meantime I’m gonna do some research on locs and ur videos help❤️
Just asking because you never know. Can you recommend any loctician in the Triangle, NC area? Thanks again for Sharing the info because you don’t have to. It’s your time and expertise.
Thank you so much for these videos! I’m hoping to start my locs very soon and on my own. For the two strand twists, do they need to be twisted a certain way? Like clockwise etc?
I'd love to hear about the different sizes to start with. My boyfriend want locs and I plan on doing them for him. So any tips would help for a beginner loctcian. (By the way I have 0 knowledge in locs just learning for him possibly a hobby. I want to be good at it though not just doing it to do it.)
I really want locs , thick locs. But I am a beach baby and go to the beach like everyday especially over the summer. I just don’t know if it will be worth it. I don’t want my locs to smell like mildew but I know my hair would constantly be wet everyday, yeah I can blow dry it everyday but I’m not sure. Advice?
looking for some insight please! I've got 3c texture and I want to loc my hair with the intention of brushing them out in a few years. I love the idea of locs, but I also know I will want my big curly hair back. I know locs are not intended to be taken down, so bear with me, just wondering if there are any tips for the best methods to retain length and minimize breakage while hair is loc'd? thank you
Wow! Thank you. Starting my journey next month. I know I love two strain twist. Do them myself on my hair. However, I want I interlocking because I work out lot and I would like instant loc. Can you do twist stain twist with Interlocking? No the size and method( Diamond etc) is what I’m working on now. Do you videos on sizing and method? Thanks in advance
i want to have a nice full head of locs, i dont want them to be too thick nor to thin. and i feel like im ready to start them. I don't know where to start
Thank you so much. I'm a 66 year old black woman. I just started single plating my hair just to go to work everyday, I didn't realize how my hair waa growing so fast cos I waa wearing a wig and did not have time to do my natural hair, all of a sudden I was not aware how long that my real hair was growing so fast when I started paying it attention,it had grown 22 inches in less than 2 years and finally like locked up. I went to get it fixed finally and it was beautiful, however I don't know what to do now since I don't want this type of style anymore please help. I have so much new growth and to go back to this beautician will cost me a lot of money. Please help tell me should I cut it off or tell me what should I do.. Love my hair ❤😅
Check out my videos on interlocking & loc methods! If you still have questions after I’d say set a consultation so we can chat www.vagaro.com/hairgoalswithcg
Ok first off I liked and subbed off you being 15 mins away from me lol. Secondly thanks for these jewels as I have a consult coming up soon and I’m super excited to get this bushy head tamed and free in some sort of way.
Hi Courtney Grayton..what advice you can give for someone that have started their loc journey and they had a little perm left on the ends to help maintain it daily such as what oils and how long will it take for the perm hair to look like the natural hair...any advice would help thanks!
I've finally decided that locs are for me. Tired of wondering what's the next hairstyle and desiring for my hair growth Studied the process, now I'm ready. Can't wait to see my outcome.

My hair is currently relaxed so I'll have to the big chop.

Can you please a video in regards to styling and different loc style options when you are starting out
Yes! I can definitely do that. You want an educational video on styling or just inspiration for different styles you can get?
@CourtneyGrayton I have been thinking about getting locs for a while now. I started doing research on Google about them and started wondering if locs would be a good choice for my hair type. I have very thin hair. I know most people with locs have thick hair.

Sometimes the only option is to do them at home! That’s okay, too. Glad to see you’re doing research
Did you find anyone in Chicago? Thinking seriously about getting locs.

Thanks for the advice!
My pleasure!

This video is very informative. Thank you.
My pleasure!
@@CourtneyGrayton do you suppose to cut the perm out first before starting the locs?
@@meciajackson4864 either or! If you’re comfortable cutting it beforehand, I recommend it
Just asking because you never know. Can you recommend any loctician in the Triangle, NC area? Thanks again for Sharing the info because you don’t have to. It’s your time and expertise.
I asked the same thing . I'm also in the triangle area.
This was so helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much for these videos! I’m hoping to start my locs very soon and on my own. For the two strand twists, do they need to be twisted a certain way? Like clockwise etc?
Standard is to the right!
Gonna get my locks tomorrow but my hair has been dry ever since I beat cancer and doesn’t grow as much. Any advice?
Steam treatments and regular deep conditioning

Hello, thank you for this video. Please what product would you recommend for retwisting/ palm rolling a 3 month locked 4c hair. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏽 😊
Loved you advice. Wish you were closer.
🥺 Thanks so much for watching! 💕
Thank you for the time stamps!
Yes you can do two strand twists with interlocking at the root. Check out my post here: instagram.com/reel/CTNFjDqnZck/?
@@CourtneyGrayton thank you

Thank you for sharing this information is very helpful
i want to have a nice full head of locs, i dont want them to be too thick nor to thin. and i feel like im ready to start them.
If it’s locd there’s not much to do but either cut them or comb them out. If I were you I’d probably just start getting retwists
How long should I grow my hair before loving?
awesome video and helpful 👍🏾
Thank you for this amazing video you are giving us all the teas to a great locs journey and healthy hair ❤️❤️😘😘
Ms. Courtney, I have gray hair and it’s been considered by some to be straight. No chemicals. It’s all natural. Should I two strain?
I’d say yes!
@CourtneyGrayton or instant loc
What do you recommend for a beginner just decided to get locs interlocking for natural hair grey hair. 😢 Don't really know the different locs
Thanks for the video! Should microlocs with two strand twists be started on dry or wet hair?
Great video 🎥 Thanks Queen 👑
It’s my pleasure! ☺️
The products? Thats important to me which products to use or not
I wanna start locs but I recently did a big chop and I’m afraid I won’t like how I look with starter locs. Should I wait until my hair grows more?
Send pics to my Instagram @c.grayton!
