    Surprisingly ,oil retwist gave me the best hold, better than gel. Yes, it was Jamaican black castor oil😅

    Listen this is why I chose a trusted loctician and I’m sticking with her . I’m not remembering all
    Of this she can tell me. The way I was with my natural free flowing hair is the way I will be with locs. Regular maintenance 😂😂 no time or patience but thank you sis for the awesome

    This was thorough. Wish I had seen it before I started my micro locs 21 months ago. Fortunately for me I did do the research you suggested. I even installed my locs for a month then took them down and made smaller parts. It has worked for me!!! I really wanted to retwist but my locs taught me I don’t have that kind of patience. Interlocking for maintenance is pretty permanent. I can get up and go swimming as soon as I finish. My hair is a combination of 4C and 4 B hair strands or so I learned as a loose natural. As a loc’d person I think I discovered some 4 A strands as well. The difference in textures makes interlocking or retesting my maintenance go to. To keep my locs relatively even after my first year i rolled bumps and bulges between my finger tips and applied a little pressure as I roll. My locs are still sized differently throughout my head but most of them are cylindrical and not lumpy which helps get the ends of the loc through the retightening. Hope this makes sense. Jamaican Black Castor oil was the GOAT for my loose natural hair and my locs respond to it well. No coconut oil for me or jojoba oil. They do nothing. Grapeseed oil and argan oil are also excellent. Peppermint oil and sweet orange oil are faves to add to water.
    Wonderful video. I’m a new subscriber.

    I’ve had locs 2 times prior currently on my 3rd I always do my own parts do they turn out perfect hell no but I love the uniqueness plus whatever number I end up with I feel is truly meant for me. I have 76 locs and I looked up the meaning of 76 and I’m in love 🥰. The people with 150+ locs have a level of patience I have not yet mastered 🤣 I interlocked the roots of my current locs and was exhausted and over it at the end. A good tip for trying to figure out what works for you is getting faux locs and experimenting with the sizes and amounts. Every time I did faux locs I always ended up with 70ish-80ish and the one time I did more it was too much for me and then I tried fewer with bigger thicker locs and wanted more locs. Better to play Goldie locks with faux locs then your actual hair 😂❤

    My hair has reached around 17 inches (so mid back for me) since I shaved my head in June 2019, and honestly, I can tell I’m starting to get to a point of exhaustion when combined with all of the work I have to do for school. (That’s not my sole reason for starting, though!) I’ve honestly been thinking about a loc journey for a year and a half, and especially with all of the friends’ journeys I’ve watched and my own personal spirituality, I think it’d be good for me.
    My mother started hers three years ago, and her hair is GORGEOUS. I’m not sure if I’m taking your channel as a sign, or what… but I think it’s time.
    (Also, Merry Christmas!)

    Felt a lil attacked at 10:25😭. Actually finna comb my locs out and have my loctician do brick pattern and do 90. My ex started my locs ( didn’t know what she was doing ) she ended giving me 48 and watching videos had me thinking I was gonna have THICK LOCS😭. For the past 3-4 months in a phase where I love my locs but don’t like that fact that my hair doesn’t look full. Finally decided 2 days ago that I’m gonna comb them out and let my loctician start them the correct way and give me more locs

    Good advice. I have micro 4c palm rolled and my loctician left. About 7 years in I retwist about 2 months, but am still looking for proper way to hydrate without causing them to untwist. I use softened or distilled water with an essential oil. They are light and ropey. I love the texture, but they always feel dry.

  • @cheyennejackson512
    @cheyennejackson512 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I washed my hair once every 2 weeks, depending on how sweatie i got. I only wash my locs once a month during my retwist. I do spray them daily with rosewater and black vanilla leave-in. I feel like im doing it wrong but everyone (including my old hairdresser (mom's bff)) said my hair wont loc so ive been careful about letting my locs get too slippery. Im 8 months in and im mostly locked.

    1st...thanks for the tips. My hair was natural and bra length, bottom and I had about 80 -90 2 strand twist. Oh yes I have 3b/c hair...the struggle became real about my 3rd retire. 10-12 wk schedule and all of a sudden my hair was at my ears and to my was crazy because my hair is curly. Month 9 I started combing them out because I absolutely didn't like them. Took me two months to comb them out. Still have length not as long or even but still if I pull it comes to top of my breast. Having it redone as micro locs...120

    Question, as for "watering" your locs everyday...what are your tips for those who live in areas where we get snow? Having a wet scalp/hair in the winter isn't exactly ideal. Lol, not trying to be sick all the time.

    You didn’t mention instant loc’s created by using a .5 mm crochet hook which can be be any size depending upon the skill of the installer.
    I have 300 x 1/8”x 30” instant loc’s. I maintain the new growth by crocheting or 2 point interlocking every 2 to 4 months depending on how fast the hair grows in different areas of the scalp.
    GREAT VIDEO 🎉
