When you did the Nova Pro wireless test, were you doing it using bluetooth or 2.4GHz?
The wired nova pro microphone sounds crazy good for a headset, It is wired, but man, not bad at all.
Just a heads up the wireless one doesn't have a dac its a base station, Only the wired has the gamedac.

@@DetroitFury i currently have the jbl quantum 800s from watching your 60 second video about them and they are really good for streaming and they actually sound really good build quality and mic isn’t bad at all, also I had the audeze penrose aswell but after having 3 pairs they broke on me due to them not fitting on my head properly pretty the headband adjuster started to become loose, so should I upgrade to these for sound quality comfort and etc or stick with the jbl quantum 800s.

Have you tried the mobius? Mine just cracked and I am so pissed off!! They sounded amazing but the build quality is so so so bad. I am now looking for a replacement and don’t know which one to buy. I want best sound but good build quality as well. I don’t care how much I have to spend as long as they sound the best and have a premium build quality, not cheap plastic that brakes after a few months of use. Mine didn’t even drop. They cracked when I put them on my head.

Just got one of these, I upgraded from the arctis pro's. Incredible sound and everything has been improved from the buttons to the comfort and the base station. Used it today on a phone call wow, what a difference.

Quick question too, what’s the sidetone like? I know some love sidetone and some hate it, but for me it’s a dealbreaker. I need to hear myself during games or I can’t speak properly. I currently have the Arctis Wired GameDAC on PC and a 7P+ on ps5 and thought about getting the nova for both. Sidetone is awesome on the GameDAC and 7P+. Clear and loud even during gaming but Steelseries sidetone implementation seems very inconsistent. Have you tested it?

Those have hi res audio so they may sound better but overall these are better unless you go for the arctis nova pro wired which have the same feature

Hmmm ...I had never heard the sound quality of the HS 80 until now. They definitely have the best mic quality sound over all the ones that were compared to. They have the most natural clear sound.

Strictly on sound, how does the SteeleSeries Nova Pro (wired aux) and the HyperXCloud Orbit S (wired aux after setting too “foot steps” mode on pc then switch to aux*) compare?

Hey, how would a mod mic wireless mount onto this headset? Obviously the cups are removable so I’m slightly concerned that it’ll fall off and pull the cup with it, unless they’re like a push and pop in kinda attachment cup? I’d love to know as I don’t want to hinder my mod mic wireless.

I made this long comment on another TH-camrs review video, so I’ll say the same here.
I’ve used many headsets and have been a long term user of the previous Arctis Pro Wireless and I love that headset. I’ve also trained my ears well over the few years to hear sounds on each frequency.
I’ve been so looking forward to this new Nova Pro Wireless, but I wanted to make sure it’s worth it before I buy one.
Luckily my friend bought one, so I used his for a whole day, mainly playing Warzone and here’s my verdict compared to the old Pro Wireless and these are based on my hearing.
-Old Pro Wireless is quite a bit louder, so if you like your stuff really loud, old one is better. Plus louder the headset gets, louder you hear each frequency.
-With old Pro Wireless playing Warzone I can comfortably hear footsteps from around 32-34 metres away and gets louder of course closer the enemy gets, but it was around the same with the new Nova, but maybe couple of metres closer to start with from around 30-32 metres. Not a big deal, but the next point will make it a big deal.
-Because the Pro Wireless gets really loud, it lets you hear those specific frequencies louder and better.
-Nova Pro Wireless might not be as loud as the Pro Wireless, but because it now has a 10 band EQ compared to the 5 band on the Pro Wireless, if you spend some time you can really extract detailed sound from each frequency and overall the sound quality/clarity is better on the Nova. However, to my hearing it’s not a night and day difference. It took me a while to make a really good custom EQ for Warzone and when compared to the old Pro Wireless, apart from overall sound quality, it made no difference at all.
-The ANC mics on the drivers touch my ears, but it really didn’t bother me as the Nova is overall really comfortable and I think more comfortable than the Pro Wireless.
-Transparency mode simply makes the headset sound and feel like you’re using an open back headset and to my ears that ruined the detailed directional audio or imaging.
-Mic quality is pretty good and better than the old Pro Wireless, but unless you’re actually using the mic for recording, I don’t really care as long as it sounds good enough to communicate.
My final verdict is, if you care about all the ANC, transparency mode and/or specifically play on PC, then the Nova is worth it. On PC you can really take advantage of the Sonor software. But if you’re a console player and don’t really care about the ANC and transparency mode, then if you don’t already have the old Pro Wireless, I would say go get one of those as the prices will drop soon and you’ll be more than happy, because it’s still if not the best, one of the best. You can find lots of used like new ones on EBay and Amazon.
I really think £330 is quite a big asking price for a headset that’s not much different to the old one. I think most of the changes were made on design of the headset and added ANC and transparency mode and that’s it. The most important part of a headset should be sound and if that’s not that much of an improvement over the old one, then that’s a big asking price.

Just to be sure did you put the volume gain on high? It increases the max volume.
@@halokil3 Yes I made sure of that. It’s the same with the Pro Wireless there’s a volume limiter you have to turn off to get the full sound. The Nova even with high gain it still isn’t as loud as the Pro Wireless and I believe it’s due to the frequency response difference. The Nova goes up to 22,000Hz and the Pro Wireless goes up to 40,000Hz. The Nova is only 40,000Hz when used wired, which I’m really confused as to why SteelSeries done that, because it defeats the idea of buying a wireless headset and they’re old Pro Wireless goes up to 40,000Hz in wireless.
Can you share the EQ you used for Warzone by any chance? Also was it through Sonar or just a custom EQ through the game DAC?
@@KiLLaCaM607 It was on the dac itself and used with PS5. I can't remember the exact EQ, but I used a similar EQ to my Pro Wireless. Leave the first 4 bands balanced on 0, then starting from the 5th band...+1, +2, +3, then 9th band 1 below max and 10th band on maximum. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact numbers, so best to explain this way. If you find it to be too harsh, then reduce the last 2 bands by a couple of clicks. In Warzone I use Boost High, music on 0, dialogue on 15 and the rest on maximum 100

Such a great in-depth review man! I’m trying to decide on a new headset to move on from my wired cloud alphas. Price isn’t an issue for me on this, and I think the compatibility and ease of use between consoles, pc, and Bluetooth is too good to pass up. It seems like you’re super well-versed in the headset market, so if you see this I’d love to know if you think it’d be a worthwhile upgrade. Awesome to find someone who goes in depth and actually shows mic quality on top of all the other aspects, pretty cool that you’re also a Michigander too LOL!

what's the wireless range? I'm currently sitting on a Artic 7 wireless and wireless range would be one big selling point for me as I like to move around the house and use them at the same time.

I currently have the steel series arctis 7x and love them. I would have upgraded to these but i cant stand leather earcups. Im actually quite annoyed they dont offer the option of the memory foam cups they have had on all their previous headsets. Thats one of the top 3 reasons i chose SS out of all the other options. Comfort is number 1 before anything else when it comes to head sets

Yea, give it a bit aftermarket parts will help with that. I love my 7x’s though, I have no desire to switch.

Hopefully you still have those 7X's. I've been trying to find those for a min and haven't been able to find them so I ended up shelling out the loot for these. Don't get me wrong, I love these but for the price, I think I'd rather have the 7X's.

Mhmm not sure I haven't experienced that....as far as EQ go with whatever sounds best then tweak it to your preference.....I'd say add bass too

Hi thank you for the review, I have a question please for those who have tested Arctis 9 and Nova Pro I have the choice to take Arctis 9x which I use on Xbox and which I can use on PC with Sonar with a bluetooh adapter xbox or either buy this Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset. Is it really worth it? Is the difference in sound quality much better? Apparently the chat mix setting is not adjustable on the dac or the headset except on the headset the Arctis 9x if and I can use Sonar on PC. And also the imitation leather which scares me a little. thanks guys

Yes! You can adjust everything from the Dac or the software
Did you activate the Clearcast AI Noise Cancellation in Sonar for you mic test? I've hear it makes a noticeable difference in the quality of the mic.
He responded in one comment saying he used stock settings. Def will sound better once you tweak settings

Great review, but I do have a question. I've asked this question on other reviews that I've watched and have not received an answer as of yet. So game chat mix is a very big deal to me personally. Does the game chat mix actually work for the PS5 on the DAC and or with the on ear volume wheel? The only headset that I know of that has a working game chat mix on ear is the Sony Pulse headset that I have but I dislike terribly. Please someone help with this question. The ps5 doesn’t have a optical output so game chat volume doesn’t work on this headset. But the ps5 has great chat/game adjustments so I feel it’s not needed anymore.

In my experience, the only way to get chat mix to work on a 3rd party headset for PS5 is by using digital optical with an audio extractor (since the PS5 doesn't have digital optical anymore). I personally have a Lucid sound LS41. I have chat mix on my headset with a ps5 by using a $30 audio extractor with HDMI 2.0. I will say the sound on my headset is way better when used this way versus just plugging in to the USB and using 3D sound. My friend has an Astro A50 and does the same work around with an audio extractor.

Hey Detroit i couldnt have the Audezen Mobuis, i love the sound quality but the comfort and build quality is not that great, I personally dont like the surround sound on the mobuis, Do you think the surround sound on the nova is better then the mobius ?
I think the nova overall is better since it’s newer….but I think the surround sound is just as good! Without the head tracking technology

I actually have a question, my right ear is partially deaf so I usually need a little more volume than most gaming headphones put out so I have to run an amp dac combo. Does the nova pros/jbl 800 push out a great deal of volume on their own?

Went and picked up the Nova Pro Wireless the day it came out. It's the best wireless gaming headset I've ever used and they cover my need for a great pair of wireless headphones to wear while I'm working too. My only complaint is the channels for the microphones in the earcups, they dig into my ears pretty bad, and even though I've gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore, I still don't understand why they didn't have the channels come in from the other side where your ear isn't going to touch them.

Wicked cushions make some cushions for these headphones that alleviates this problem for those affected. (,I can't relate as they don't touch my ears but I've heard all about it)

I actually find the base station a con for my use case. My PC is in my game room and my PS5 is across the house. I’d constantly have to move it around correct? Unless I connect the PC on Bluetooth which is want for my phone.

The crazy thing is that was the mic sound without sonar, it's WAY better and bass-y with that software.
Could you use a standalone mic on Xbox if you plugged it into the back of Dac?
In theory yes you should be able to however I haven't tried it and can't say yes forsure
I didn't hear a lot about the sound quality, besides mic test. I'm looking for a headset I can use on PC and Series X. Right now I'm debating between the Audeze Penrose X and the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless X. I know there's a difference between the drivers used, but... Is there a winner between these two? It seems close to me; Nova has amazing software to tune these to your own needs as wall as ANC and Hear Through, while Penrose has the planar magnetic drivers.

@ DetroitFury-- Could you please recommend the absolute best PS5 Wireless Headset that are MUCH LOUDER, have MORE BASS, and work well with Tempest 3D Audio that are better than Arctis 7P+? I am a former artilleryman that has a bit of hearing loss and the only headset that I ever found to be loud enough was the Astro A50's? I want hear the action around me as if I'm watching a movie at an IMAX theater! Money is no problem. Please let me know the top two or three models out there that you think will satisfy me. If you do this for me, I will forever be in your debt.

@@DetroitFury I bought & used the Penrose for my PS5 over the past week. Athough they are a bit heavy I've found the clamping force doesn't seem too tight on my head so I'd say they're OK as far a comfort goes. These boys really do sound plenty loud out of the box with "flat" EQ settings, but the minute you bump up the bass +1, +2, or +3, these damned things only sound about 60-70% as loud as I know they could/should've be. I've done some research and Audeze says that we're supposed to turn down the individual levels that we are not wanting instead of turning up the ones that we want. That's not cool to me at all. In my opinion, Audeze are ripping customers off by not letting users hear the full potential that the Penrose can offer because they've built in to the headset a system that reduces the loudness whenever you bump up any of the frequencies in the EQ--no matter which one you choose. These things gotta go! What other wireless headsets are out there that get as loud as these do--but also let you play with the EQ without hampering the overall loudness as these do? The only headsets that ever satisfied me in the past were some Turtle Beach Stealths that you had to plug a thing into the bottom of my controller and the Astro A50s. I'm looking for bass and I'm looking for loudness. Surely, I'm not the only one out there that likes gaming/watching movies with the lows tickling my balls! Please help...I'm going crazy trying to sort this out. P.S. Bluetooth for listening to music/podcasts while gaming would be very much appreciated as well.
Scooped these up today after watching some videos. Yours being the best. Unfortunately they are not compatible with elgato capture cards and ps5 through USB. Bummed....

For some reason on apex this headset seems a little weird idk what's going on. I have a questions I'm using it on xbox it uses windows sonic but I'm not sure if that's the best option? Should I purchase Dolby atmos or dts? And do those have that spatial audio I'm trying to get the best out of thos headset?

i purchased these on day 1....which audio file u using cause i dont find them sounding nowhere near the corsair virtuoso xt while playing warzone, im gonna return them if i cant figure out how people r setting eq to get them to sound good.......sonar software sounds horrible

Any one having issues with the display Hub(box thing w.e is called). my knob wheel is having massive issues and its less than 35days old whenever i turn the knob left to turn down the music the volume decreases by 1 or 2 then jumps to full volume. on the setting screen if i try to scroll between option it does not work either because the knob is registering right turns only. horrible experience with such an expensive product so far.

I think you said somewhere that the wired version sounds better because they have hi-res ...but I read somewhere that the wireless have hi-res too if you plug them in... Hoping you could test/confirm...I'd buy the wireless if I could still get the option of hi res with the cord... And great video
