That's a nice offset! I hope the outdoor cooking community increasingly promotes these types of cookers and influences our neighbors to stop buying Chinese junk financed by private equity firms that couldn't care less about BBQ. I considered the Franklin seriously before going with a Workhorse Pits 1969 with "cowboy" firebox grill which I think is even better. The 1969 is about the same size but more than 200 lbs. heavier with 3/8" steel chamber and firebox. I also like the wider chamber door, longer firebox that can also be used as a grill or pizza oven, and the addition of a stack damper and bow-tie vent on the firebox door that lets me have more control of air flow and temps. The 1969 firebox is also much easier to clean after a cook. The Franklin is a great smoker, but it's just a smoker. The 1969 is a great smoker as well--and it's a searing station for steaks and tri-tip, a pizza oven, etc.

It's insane you can buy a high end tv for 2000 but a bbq made out of metal. Can cost so much

crazy but you really cant compare the two, as tech advances its gets cheaper. metal and labor doesn't do the same. plus well no slave labor involved so yeah that ill keep price up lol.

@19DESERTFOX91 I get that and to make just one offset smoker has so many man hours behind It. But I'm saying when you look at it as a while. It's a barrel with a chimney plus a firebox. A big chunk of metal. It's more than a car, a tv. Etc

This pit is way over priced and highly overrated. There are other brands out there that are built just as good for half the cost.
