Anyone else not like this recent gaming trend of making game characters iconic? Iconic as in super flashy, annoying characters, so you can sell lots of cosmetics.
Exactly. It's gimicky, cartoony and annoying. Battlefield had a beautiful thing going where you really felt immersed in the role of being just another anonymous foot soldier, just a piece of a grand struggle, this is especially true in BF 3,4 and . Gritty, dark and morbid, you can hear the desperation in the voice acting, it was amazing! Compare that to these CRINGE AF after match quips/voice lines that destroy the tone and immersion. I hate the hero shooter trend, if I wanted to feel like a supersoldier I'd play Halo ffs.
I have never understood it, the only reason I still game was the BF series, Squad, HLL. BR games and hero shooters never made any sense, like a 12 year old came up with the idea of the Pre and Post game character/team cringe fest and BF2042 is top tier wtf.
Modern warfare 2019 ground war map would be great in bf2042 because I think dice saw the success of modern warfare and said let's copy them bf2042. Need to bring featires from mw 2019 like spawn point on teammates and flags defcon if enemy team has all objective in A1 minute they will win if your team doesn't capture any flags.
It makes sense in a game like valorant where it's cartoony but not in counter strike or mil sim games. Imagine if in escape from tarkov you could be santa claus. Totally does not fit the game.
As for Battlefield 3 & 4, based on what you've said it seems like you mostly just played conquest, but I have to say you get more immersed in squad and team play with game modes like Rush. The battlefield is more linear (like a real battle) rather than people running in circles around the map.
What you said is true but in all honesty Rush was way better in bad company 2 than Battlefield 3 and 4 that's what a lot of Battlefield fans have said for a long time because Bad Company 2 made the maps around those game modes
this idea was one thing which they created in over 8years of creativity. Its pathetic and said. But yeah it was nice idea that soldiers are just names and numbers.
I am literally astonished about how the hype for this game just died.I mean Cyberpunk was so big even when it came out but I learned that battlefield was out like yesterday and had not heard of it since the trailer was published lmao
One week after release Battlefield 2042 had less viewers on Twitch and less players on Steam than Farming Simulator 22.... that's all you need to know.
Battlefield players like me: "Man I just love how these games can take a gritty, dark and (more) realistic take on conflict while still being so fun! The classes are well balanced and have well defined roles. There's really no other game like it! The voice acting of desperate young soldiers that sound afraid for their lives , the visuals, the sound design, it's all so immersive!" Dice/EA: "wHaT wAS thAt?! You want a brightly colored, light hearted hero shooter with quirky after-match voice lines and quirky, immersion breaking cosmetics? Where everyone looks like the same 3 people regardless of team?? A game thats just like EVERY OTHER GODD*MN STUPID SHOOTER OUT THERE ALREADY?!?! Yeah I'm pretty sure people want Battlefield to play more like fortnight/CoD/Apex!!! They TOTALLY don't play our games to get AWAY from that cartoony sh*t!!!!!" *Releases bad game* *Game gets a deservedly bad reception* EA/Dice: *Pikachu face* ... ... ... "So anyways our next battlefield is going to be a straight up hero shooter strictly because we want to greedily sell you more cosmetics and micro transactions, we are explicitly betraying the identity of the game that brought us this success because papa EA NEEDS A NEW F*CKIN YATCH B*TCH!!!!" BF1 was the last one of these godd*mn titles I will ever buy I think. How sad, this franchise had SOOOOOOO much promise and potential. F*CK EA!!!!
Honestly, the gameplay seems to be a lot more cohesive on the old gens. 64 is just the magic number. Also I believe that you not being a DieHard battlefield fan gives you a position to make a more honest critical statement regarding the game. Battlefield fans right now either viciously feel betrayed or defend it tooth and nail. I just feel disappointed.
"I don't even care that it doesnt have a campaign" I mean, considering that they're charging $70 for this thing, the least they could do is to have a campaign in it. But $70 for a game that doesn't have it? That's a massive redflag that I'm more surprised that people are surprised BF2042 is bad. I mean, hell, Cyberpunk 2077 was atleast playable and finishable on release than whatever DICE made.
missing campaign would not be problem if multiplayer was banger with innovative things and Ideas and no Bugs. With 30maps lot of modes , Free Skins, Skill Tree, Solders Career etc. But nah, they create Turd
BF1: Great marketing and turns out to be a great game. BFV: Bad marketing and turns out to be a good game. BF2042: Great marketing and turns out to be a shit game. So I am guessing the natural step for the next BF game is to have shitty marketing and be a shit game overall
@@mayonnaise3959it is really fun and actually works ive put in like 200 hours into it different probably would have loved it even more if it was more like battlefield 1 but i enjoyed what it was a lot
It was unfortunately overhyped to death, everyone and their grandmother thought we'd return to the Golden Ages of late BF3 and BF4 but in reality DICE spray painted over a dumpster and called it a day. Betraying it's own core elements and for what? No campaign, No understanding of 64v64 and no love besides portal but even then Portal gets boring. Why play 2042 to play BF3 maps when BF3 is still alive and active. Great video btw
The rumor is the specialists were mandated by EA, no surprise really, monetize skins. But it feels like everything else about the game is wrong too, even ignoring the bugs(terrible maps, a really clunky UI, the terrible vehicles and drop ins), which can't just be the publishers telling them to make a shitty game. Someone at Dice has no idea what they're doing.
Go watch Tom Hendersons video all will be explained I like the game apart from issues but got eyes opened as to why it is this way. Really thought this was the 1 to top 3 and 4 bin waiting to a 4 follow up such a shame.
I wouldn't give the developers shit. Its publishers ruining games nowadays. This game had very rough developement, and a lot of it was sparked by EA forbidding the old DICE devs their creative freedom. The newer devs that had to fill the old one's shoes tried their best. Of course, when the game is shit, EA will act all innocent about it and blame the devs. EA is a scummy publishing company, and they have brought the death of many franchises like C&C. I hate them.
a lot of the veteran DICE talent left the studio because of no creative freedom... i wouldn't say DICE doesnt have any problems at all, they sure do. but most of the blame goes to EA imo
it feels like a free to play game, it feels like you're controlling a soap bar instead of a soldier, it feels like a running simulator, it feels like a bolte simulator....
the big thing that the specialist kill, for me, is the immersion. in BF1, all factions have unique outfits, that look even more specific depending on your class. models i believe where randomized and some classes had face coverings to further make it seem like everyone is a random soldier. same applied to BFs 3, 4, even hardline and 5. you rarely felt like everyone was the same, the immersion of all this added to the games immensely now with specialists, you're stretching 10 or so characters across 128 players, with no difference in designs for teams. its like two clone armys fighting each other, and for what? the previous games had factions, so you had an idea as to why sides were fighting. now its clones upon clones battling for no reason with the immersion of previous games shattered. specialists are the worst addition to battlefield and it makes the game harder to salvage. like alex from angry joe said, the game has bad bones
I remember playing Bad Company 2's campaign. I didnt know how much destruction there was until I tried hiding in a house and the whole front of it was blown up. It was amazing.
This game was supposed to break the chain of 💩 titles over the last few years. I still feel 4 was the last decent Battlefield title. Nothing beats Battlefield 2 (OG) or Bad Company 2. Damn I miss Bad Company 2, the levolution and fun factor was just next level, you could literally feel the amount of work and passion that went into making that game fun.

BF3's Campaign was actually quite good, but I can see why some people didn't like it after playing Bad Company 2. BF3 is like the Halo Reach of Battlefield. Completely different atmosphere and gameplay, but damn are they good.
I'm so old I'm used to when Battlefield games didn't have campaigns. Bf1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142 all didn't have campaigns and were multiplayer only. I actually thought for a moment, hey no campaign in 2042 means they can focus more on multiplayer. How wrong I was, lol. Also while not too memorable BF3 campaign was alright. I do remember that little dinosaur.
bad company was unique to the whole entire battlefield franchise. I am still a bf2 die hard to this day and think 2042 is quite fun but I did not pay full price I just put a bunch time in through ea play.
When you went to the shop, bought a game and were content that that was the game. You didnt loose interest if there was no something new every month. We had spans of attention back then and thick skin.
Shits getting out of hand.I’ve stopped blaming devs a long time ago and focused on corporate suits in places like EA. They’re the ones who don’t give a shit about the game but the numbers. I’m starting to think it’s a money saving tactic to get rid of devs and be understaffed in order to maximize profits since people still buy their games for $60.
The best way to experience Battlefield 3 was on PC. The console versions only allowed 32 players, and considering the maps were designed for 64, they felt really empty and the engagements were sparse.
Being a long time battlefield fan this game is truly disappointing. I’m stead of getting ahead of the game EA wanted to copy the competition. You nailed it on the head the battlefield formula is gone. EA getting money hungry thinking about skins just ruined squad play and everything that made battlefield battlefield. The poor Devs were rushed and it seems as if their thoughts and ideas were just thrown out of the window (why many of them left during BFV) I think this is the end of a battlefield legacy. Especially if the next one is a hero type shooter. Thanks EA for ruining another game.

Thank you for talking about the game design, I feel like so many people get so caught up with the bugs that they don’t point out how bad the game would be even if it did work
As a battlefield fan I find it sad that I barely care about this game. I really wanted to especially with how little anyone cares about Vanguard but after the 2042 busted ass beta and getting a feel for the game will generally be like (when it worked) I can’t allow myself to pay money for more shit especially when Halo a franchise that people have been waiting for a while is FREE. Sick of gettin shit on with so many broken games at launch. Its nice to hear of games eventually getting fixed after a rocky start but why cant we just get a game that works and has everything day one. 2042 problems. There are literally no guns to choose from. The maps are the worst designed ive ever seen in my life, not only are they massive.. but you can tell they are so badly designed in the sense that like you said, the sand one 100% is almost all open space, no objects to move around in, most of the maps are massive, the infantry have no where to run around other than in the open and vehicles shit on them.. The sand map is by far the worst. The Snowmap, no one even plays near the snow area, literally every game i played, the entire action happened around the bunker area with the two silos, a bit on the oil rig, but for the most part, it was either hover crafts farming people on the ice lower part. No one near the top icy/snow area. the map in the city was choppers flying around farming people, and all the players fighting at the building that is small and circular, and the building you highlighted the buggy chopper flying through the floor and picking up two enemies. The map with the two Boats, was everyone fighting on the hill, then when that was taken with a billion ppl they would go take the boats, then the crate area, and just cycle in a circle, as the boats were basically impossible to take once fortified as snipers had some stupid high ground on top of them, and the boats were funnels on tiny little rampways to get up to. The map with the GIANT ship with two points on it was people farming the guys that spawned at the location below it, and who ever controlled that boat would be like 99% winning as everyone would just spawn low ground shooting high ground and high ground obviously winning more and not to mention they can spam res high ground while your still being farmed low ground. The class system is cool, but broken as fuck, the class that can change kits on the fly all the time had permanant access to either anti air or anti tank systems. The changing weapon load outs on the fly was cool but like you said thats because the maps were so badly designed you would change them for range, or close combat every engagement you had. The FPS issues oh my lord, a monster pc couldnt run this game passed 40-60 fps on low. Its no wonder everyone stopped playing asap.. im glad i got the game for "free" via currency from a forum i earned from other games i play for fun so i didnt care, but man if i paid 90$ for this game, id be fucking pissed.
Your channel is criminally underrated and has way too few subscribers, I am loving your content. From one Medic main to another you have my appreciation
i think in order to make that "all out warfare" feel, you would need a wayyyyy smaller map to condense all the chaos. huge reason why i like this series way more than others in the casual fps genre is because each match felt like pure chaos in every turn. the presentation of bullets flying everywhere, and artilleries destroying the environment always sells. It feels like dice doesnt even play their own game.
After playing BF 2042 for about a 100 hours, I decided to check out Halo Infinite. I was never a big Halo guy, but I wanted "something else." And the multiplayer is free, so why not. Played 3 random quick matches and I was sold. Never looked back. Halo has its own problems, sure, but it works, it looks great, and most importantly, I had fun, even after losing.
I like how the m416 ejection port is not only on the wrong side, but its also got a dust cover that reciprocates open/closed with each individual case ejection...
Bf1 had THE BEST map design. It was invisible but every map seamlessly pushed every single player into one little bunker/ alleyway. With gas and incendiary grenades popping around you just made it so good
Battlefield was never about single player. The problem for most people who grew up with BC2 (which is arguably the best BF, even though I never played it), is that no other game can truly match it. I started with BF2, which is still my favourite and the most teamwork oriented of any Battlefield. It has no single player, but it is best enjoyed on a filled server in a full squad and with a competent commander supporting the team. I loved this game so much I kept playing it until some time after BF3 was released. When I finally started playing BF3 it felt way more arcadey (less classes, infinite vehicle ammo, more gadgets... just to name a few things), but it was more polished and the gameplay, graphics and sound design made it really satisfying to play (drive any vehicle and you know what I mean). When BF4 came it was just BF3 with unnecessary add-ons (getting killed by suicidal drones just isn't enjoyable) and worse netcode. After trying BF4 I now make sure to check plenty of gameplay footage, preferably after all the early game-breaking bugs are fixed. Hardline was an obvious pass and also 1 and V just don't do it for me (mostly for the reason mentioned at 6:10). Seeing how 2042 has deviated from the original formula, I'll just stick with BF3 which has held up better than any of its successors ever will.
@@mhazg6621 Everyone has the fondest memories of BC2, maybe it's the nostalgia glasses, maybe it's the fact that it was revolutionary for the time. All I know is that it's generally regarded as the best BF by veterans. I haven't even played it, but I can see why people think this.
Nice to see another BF2 vet here, and yeah, it's true that today Battlefield it's a different BF from 2-2142 era where Teamwork was a core part of the game. Me personally i still have fun with newer BF's and Dice has cared to fill the gaps with teamwork that the casual Playerbase that got into BF since Bad Company 2 like the ammo thing, healing or reviving. Without Dice post BF2 enhancements it would be annoying af to play Battlefield without quicker respawns, the Death Camera, Animations, Customizing, etc. PD: One neat thing i noticed tho Is that people revive a lot on 2042, a lot more than Bf3 to BfV.
Remember those old Battlefield 3 clips people put on TH-cam of slowed down executions, where the focus was how sad and betrayed the enemy's eyes always looked when they get knifed? And they were set to ethereal, melancholic electronica to accentuate the... Tragedy of war I guess? I don't know if there were 2 or 2000 of those videos, I only saw a few I think, but that was a thing.
Speaking of BF3 issues, does anybody recall when BF3 used to crash like crazy on consoles and updates were massive (at the time) and took hours if not longer to download? BF4 also did this but nowhere near as bad when I played.

Hazard Zone is the only thing I like in 2042 tbh. It's fun with a good squad. I just hope they actually give it love so it doesn't die out. Also, portal is cool but it's just remasters of old games.
Because they know that the new generation of gamers are stupid enough to still buy anything that releases, even if it’s finished or not. The publishers don’t give a damn about the players.
Tested? lol Remember when Dice dropped the Apocalypse DLC for BF1? The one with a massive video stutter for every scoring event. How does tat make it out the door? Testing!!!! hahahahaha
BF3&4 also my favs, but BC2 had an unbelievable sound design, solid gameplay, story and characters. 3rd best. BF1 was solid as well, however the WW1 setting is still a tad weird.
I personally have always enjoyed the BF franchise. I get and agree with some of the criticisms, I personally still enjoy BF 2042 despite it’s flaws. I will give the devs the benefit of the doubt and assume that the game will improve as more patches and updates release with time. The game was just released and the devs seem to be quite active with the community and update suggestions. Good example of this is a poll to remove specialists that they posted. So this game has potential, it just will take a dedicated dev team and a lot if time. Battlefield 2042 is not dead yet, I desperately hope they can turn this game around and make it a better addition to the franchise.
I agree with this, the core gameplay it's pretty good, specialists included but the game was released way undercoocked, in other words, with poor technical quality and few content. No matter how delicious can be a meal but if it is undercoocked it will taste really bad, this ins't the First Time that happened to Dice so I'm sure they will make 2042 a lot better with time.
I’m a diehard fan. I converted all of my friend for COD when BC2 came out. This minimalism in the classes and the small amount of vehicles made bad company amazing. I had some of the most epic fights! Once they introduced jets it started spiraling out of control.
When the plane clips through the building to lift the two snipers you could tell the players behind them were extremely confused LOL but seriously though DICE couldn't have separated the operators based on what they do and bring to the fight? Oh yeah that's because the content pool is so small that dividing it up would cause even more problems. OW was a good example of having multiple characters for each role
New sub here... really like your channel! 12:33 ... yep.. was thinking the same exact thing! Like, wtf guys... if I can think of that??? I do have to say this: for all the complaining about the open maps... there ARE tons of options here: objective spawn, squad spawn, vehicle spawns, and vehicle drops. I mean.. ppl complain about both at the same time: "the maps are too big, oh, and there are too many vehicles". I happen to really like Battlefront's take: earn battlepoints to EARN a vehicle drop or special gadget... maybe limit the number on the field... but I think that would solve vehicle spamming. Anyway, I enjoy your channel, keep it up. P.S. Keep up cheering Titanfall 2 mate: that game deserves so much more love than it got from its own developer and publisher

What you said is true but in all honesty Rush was way better in bad company 2 than Battlefield 3 and 4 that's what a lot of Battlefield fans have said for a long time because Bad Company 2 made the maps around those game modes

2042 could've really been something special. Its sad just how low DICE have fallen off the totem pole.
It's ea and Activision notorious for releasing games broken.
it feels like a free to play game, it feels like you're controlling a soap bar instead of a soldier, it feels like a running simulator, it feels like a bolte simulator....
the big thing that the specialist kill, for me, is the immersion. in BF1, all factions have unique outfits, that look even more specific depending on your class. models i believe where randomized and some classes had face coverings to further make it seem like everyone is a random soldier. same applied to BFs 3, 4, even hardline and 5. you rarely felt like everyone was the same, the immersion of all this added to the games immensely
now with specialists, you're stretching 10 or so characters across 128 players, with no difference in designs for teams. its like two clone armys fighting each other, and for what? the previous games had factions, so you had an idea as to why sides were fighting. now its clones upon clones battling for no reason with the immersion of previous games shattered. specialists are the worst addition to battlefield and it makes the game harder to salvage. like alex from angry joe said, the game has bad bones
The best way to experience Battlefield 3 was on PC. The console versions only allowed 32 players, and considering the maps were designed for 64, they felt really empty and the engagements were sparse.

Its no wonder everyone stopped playing asap.. im glad i got the game for "free" via currency from a forum i earned from other games i play for fun so i didnt care, but man if i paid 90$ for this game, id be fucking pissed.

i think in order to make that "all out warfare" feel, you would need a wayyyyy smaller map to condense all the chaos. huge reason why i like this series way more than others in the casual fps genre is because each match felt like pure chaos in every turn. the presentation of bullets flying everywhere, and artilleries destroying the environment always sells.

Saying BF BC2 is the best is just stupid. BF 3 and 4 is better if you want same theme comparison.

This was randomly suggested to me, and perfectly narrated my experience with battlefield, except i left in total disgust with BF3 and only came back for BF V
You came back for one of the worst battlefields ever? lol
@@eyebelieve3 the campaign might be a dumpster fire of SJW bullshittery, but the gunplay and movement are just something you can't not love. Every gun feels unique and different from each other, sound effects are crisp and clean, the environments are beautiful and unlike futuristic CoD, actually flow well with the movement. Thanks to the god awful marketing, firestorm being another dumpster fire, and the community manager with his eternal wisdom attacking the fans, I understand why many people don't like it, but the game will always be one of my guilty pleasures
9:07 damn all those years in a cell really made Bobby Shmurda crazy
Bro i Just discovered your Channel, pretty good stuff Man keep It up with the good work
@Bang Reshi, new Assassins Creed video when? every time you make one, its just so accurate!
Bro idk, i might make a retrospective of the older games at some point, but in terms of vids about the newer games i dont think ill make a vid anytime soon. Soz bro
@@bangreshi oh ok, I mean, I personally hate the newer games as well, so when you have time, any video about older games (or about how the newer games suck) would be great!
BF5's campaigns are out of this world tho
First person I ever heard that hated BF3
I really would have loved a star wars battlefront 3 but now that i hear what they have done im not so sure anymore
Can I just play portal and play the old games or do I have to play the new one? How does it work? Do you level up serperatly from game to game or what?
It seem that recently putting a date on your videogame's title automatically curses it (Cyberpunk 2077,battlefield 2042)
What happened to battlefield hardline? Or was that just a small spinoff project, idk
You deserve wayyy more subs, keep up the good work homie 👍
First time watching, take my subscription good sir! Nice video
Good video although I’m surprised you didn’t enjoy bf3 multiplayer , I thought it was great , got many hours out of that and bf4 online
This guy is crazy. BF3 was the best!
