@@orrthehunter If you don't care about rescuing the crew you could do it so you bring legion on every loyalty mission, It's a wonderfully flexible game
I mean, there's no true, single canon in Mass Effect (at this point anyway, we'll see what ME4 does) but even if there was I don't think bringing Legion here would be canon. It feels _really_ inexplicable that any version of Shepard would choose to take it there since it's so obviously a bad idea. It's like choosing obviously incorrect squadmates for tasks on the suicide mission; sure you _can_ do it but it's inconceivable that Shepard could be that stupid.
I remember being in tears laughing when I first did this. I thought about this possibility one night years ago and redid an entire playthrough just to see if it was possible. "Tali you're being accused of bringing active get to the fleet" "What!? That's insane." Lmao!
I already knew what happens if you bring Legion to the trial having played ME2 a whole bunch of times, but I'm most impressed that it has an effect on ME3. They took time to write in a line that maybe 1 in 1000 players would hear.
I hate that getting Legion is tied to how many crew members die in ME2, forces you to get him right at the end if you want the best ending. Edit: I am referring to your non-combat crewmates like Kelly Chambers and Dr. Chakwas, not the ME2 Squadmates that go with you on missions.
you will have atleast two missions to complete before you have to make the choice to go after your crew once you recruit Legion. That is enough time to finish Tali and Legion loyality mission but yes you have to get Legion last if you want everyone to survive.
There's a mod called Mass Effect 2 Recalibrated, I just don't know how to install it. It lets you get Legion at any time after you get the Reaper IFF mission by giving you control over when to install said IFF and opens up Illium early so you can get Thane and Samara before Horizon. I'm pretty sure you can recruit Tali early too.
@@AnimeShinigami13 it’s been a while since I’ve played mass effect 2, but I’m fairly certain there’s a mod manager similar to what dragon age origins had. There was cut content where legion was going to be one of first squadmates you get in fact it was the geth who bring shepard back to life in that cut content.Would have been cool to see that
I did this for the fun of it on my first renegade playthrough, and I've done it every time since. Quite possibly the best extra squad mate dialogue in a loyalty mission in the entire franchise. Also always take Tali on Legion's loyalty mission. Best way to do that while still ensuring squad survival in the suicide mission, make sure you only save Tali's loyalty mission for after you get the Reaper IFF, do Tali's loyalty mission next, and then go straight to Legion's loyalty mission. Also make sure to get all of your ship upgrades and other hub planet upgrades before you get the Reaper IFF.
Same and that's because of the reaper IFF countdown. If you could choose when to start the install THEN the two mission timer begins it would be so much better
The intial step onto the ship is far more friendly, with the guard expressing sympathy for Tali's position. Koris objects to Shepard representing Tali, to which you can point out that he's the one who changed Tali's legal name... And thus the reason you're her lawyer. Background chatter is instead people questioning whether or not Tali is innocent, and commenting on Shepard's ability to handle the court. Admiral Xen still obsesses over experimenting on Geth, but just in general. Tali still calls her insane.
@I.M. Shirley Rongh yeah I have to say, I bought the remaster. It's super awesome and all but the 11th time mass effect isn't going to be wildly different from the 10th time :/ I wanted to do a 100% back to back run, but I'm not even halfway in ME1
Last time I played, I planned it out. I knew after getting Legion, you could only do 2 missions before the Collectors abduct your crew and you had to go to the base immediately to get the best ending. One is Legion's loyalty mission, of course, the other is Tali's, which I saved just so I could bring Legion along :)

I strive for enjoying all the small details in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Mass Effect, Especially Mass Effect 3 which I used to feel differently about it's amazing how 10 years since you've played a game can change how you enjoy the game as you change as well.
This is a constant for all my play throughs. Since there's an invisible timer of 2 missions from getting to Legion to the trigger of the potential end game event, I always do Legions and Tali's loyalty mission within that time.
Somehow this makes my feelings towards the ending of Mass Effect 3 even stronger. There should have always been a way to destroy the reapers without killing all sentient AI and allow for Shepard to survive. The game was always about playing it your way and Shepard was right when he said reaper tech was too dangerous.
This is why I would never use the Destroy option. I'd rather die than genocide the geth. Ever since I heard their story in ME1 I sympathised with them and longed to broker peace between them and the quarians.

She'll always be Officer Aeryn Sun first and foremost 😊
Nah, it's always Vala Mal Doran. SG1!
Its always "Yes mommy"
I mean What?
Not only Morrigan but Loghain as well. A mini DAO reunion 😁

Savage.
This is what iPhones say when you try to repair them.
Paragon Shepard stepping in to be Legion's human shield is heartwarming even in the current situation they find themselves in. He basically said "you want Legion dead? It's a two-for-one deal."
I used to love modding ME2 back in the day. I thought it was amazing how legion had voiced and working dialog *for the entire game* despite normally you can only recruit -him- it near the end.
Playing with -him- it from the beginning was fascinating.
Originally the story was the geth bring shepherd back and legion would take on Mirandas role. At some point this was changed to Cerberus but not before legion was fully voice acted and animated for the entire game even the first mission of me2 has legion dialogue.
@@syveenwolf that’s incredible!
@@syveenwolf thats dope
@@syveenwolf I would actually prefer this to what we actually got even though what we got was already amazing. To work with the geth throughout the game and learn their ways and motivations beyond simply talking to Legion would be a sight to behold.
@@MarceloZ2 unfortunately the geth way would've been very difficult to pull off in a meaningful way. Cerberus are jackasses but nobody was at war with them. Meanwhile the geth we're at war with everyone in the galaxy at one point or another. It would've been difficult to justify working with them
The fact that it impacts ME3 is the best part imo. That is an extreme level of care with storytelling.
I swear, I feel so much sympathy for Legion. The way he just turns his head or shifts nervously as soon as the Quarians "call him out" makes me just want to hug him.
Legion is definitely one of the best characters in the game for me, including Thane, Liara and Mordin.
I wish we could've chosen him as a crewmate in ME3...
I recall really enjoying his first mission!
Would this be considered the 'canon' version of events for this mission? There's so much unique dialogue, I'm tempted to try it when Legendary Edition comes out.
Unlikely. There's just so much unique dialogue because it wouldn't make any sense for it not to be acknowledged.
I don't think you can even bring Legion to that mission without changing the game code.
@@TheOnceandFutureJake Tali loyality mission can be done with Legion after you recuit Legion. The game gives you two Major Missions timer before the events that lead to the suicide mission happens so you basically recuit legion last and after you just complete both Tali and Legion Loyality mission after then the event where the crew is taken happens.
"Tali you're being accused of bringing active get to the fleet"
"What!? That's insane."
Lmao!
I'd never do anything like that... before today!
I already knew what happens if you bring Legion to the trial having played ME2 a whole bunch of times, but I'm most impressed that it has an effect on ME3. They took time to write in a line that maybe 1 in 1000 players would hear.
I think there are way more people that tried this than you think.
this is reason why Mass Effect is Legend and Bioware too despite all bad things ...
"Shepard Commander" i love that with the geth voice.
That is enough time to finish Tali and Legion loyality mission but yes you have to get Legion last if you want everyone to survive.
orrthehunter and to Romance Tali before mission start
There's a mod called Mass Effect 2 Recalibrated, I just don't know how to install it. It lets you get Legion at any time after you get the Reaper IFF mission by giving you control over when to install said IFF and opens up Illium early so you can get Thane and Samara before Horizon. I'm pretty sure you can recruit Tali early too.
@@AnimeShinigami13 it’s been a while since I’ve played mass effect 2, but I’m fairly certain there’s a mod manager similar to what dragon age origins had. It’s either in the games files already, or you have to install it separately.
It’s either that, or I remember there being some very detailed installation instructions in the files of the mod itself
There was cut content where legion was going to be one of first squadmates you get in fact it was the geth who bring shepard back to life in that cut content.Would have been cool to see that
I bring Legion on Tali's loyalty mission all the time. Just to piss off the other Quarians.
Really makes me happy that Koris discusses peace with Legion. I wish he tried to make a more serious case for it but still
I did this for the fun of it on my first renegade playthrough, and I've done it every time since.
I feel like I never get enough dialog with Legion because he’s always the last team member I pick up 😂
Same and that's because of the reaper IFF countdown. If you could choose when to start the install THEN the two mission timer begins it would be so much better
"Get that damn thing off my ship!"
"When I take Tali aboard council stations, the customs guys sometimes call her 'that thing'."
I played through this scene like 7 different times. I’ve never actually seen what happens if you DON’T bring legion
Tali'Zorah:I would never bring an active Geth onboard.
Shepard:It's true, she wouldn't..........but I would, for the lols.
This was from the old glory days of bioware, how times have changed...I can't wait for the remaster to come out!
@I.M. Shirley Rongh yeah I have to say, I bought the remaster. It's super awesome and all but the 11th time mass effect isn't going to be wildly different from the 10th time :/ I wanted to do a 100% back to back run, but I'm not even halfway in ME1
In this alternate dimension, Morrigan, Loghain, and Avernus are quarian admirals leading the remnants of a species trying to survive
At 5:41 Legion nods in agreement with Tali. A nice little detail
I like the daily upload can't wait for legendary edition
Now this was a fun video... Thanks for sharing this one Dan! Keep it up! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like I’m playing this entire series again. My God what an incredible trilogy
This reminds of when I brought Nick Valentine to the Prydwin in Fallout 4.
Thank you. I’ve played mass effect trilogy 6 to 7 time play through seen most of the video you have shown myself by playing it before but for the first time I never seen this or thought to do this as an option. Subscribed!!
Tali: I *never* brought active geth aboard!
Legion: We judge this situation to be "awkward" Creator Zorah.
I remember doing this cause I was like "what would happen". Glad I did and that they took into account
Holy shit man your channel’s growing like a Krogan, keep up the good work
Thanks!
Legion has some of the best lines of the trilogy
This game is an absoulte masterpiece I don't think there is any other game with such passion and attention to details.
That was hilarious. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
she says she would never "send" active geth to the migrant fleet. technically she isn't lying. she didn't send legion there, she brought him. there is a difference no matter how subtle
Man your videos made me go back and start a new game of me2
Legions little head tilts, like a confused puppy are adorable. Like it genuinely doesn't understand why everyone is freaking out and scared of it
Good luck, Dan! Just here to support
I strive for enjoying all the small details in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Mass Effect, Especially Mass Effect 3 which I used to feel differently about it's amazing how 10 years since you've played a game can change how you enjoy the game as you change as well.
So cool thanks for sharing. One of my favorite games I played many times and had entirely no clue. Never even crossed my mind this was possible.
Aaaand still, best RPG ever made.
I am in awe. Seriously. I was not expecting anyone to dissect these things that much. Thank you.
This is a constant for all my play throughs. Since there's an invisible timer of 2 missions from getting to Legion to the trigger of the potential end game event, I always do Legions and Tali's loyalty mission within that time.
Thanks for this video, I never thought of it but it’s super interesting
That line at 1:20 never fails to crack me up, especially these days. It really sounds like Shepard is in Karen mode.
They many layers they put into this beautiful onion of a masterpiece!
This was a "no brainer" on the second playthrough. I had to do it.
Another amazing video, thanks a lot Dan ! :)
Glad you liked it!
Wow. The ME2 affecting that line of dialogue in ME3 was some great detail from the team.
You thought Tali brought active geth to the fleet, BUT IT WAS ME, SHEPHARD!
The geth are alive in the destroy ending. At least in legendary edition
@@realquestforgreatness which doesn't make much sense "it won't discriminate" "also you have to sac yourself" "Also somehow the Geth are discriminated"
@Goremize maybe their rebuilt. If the mass relays can be restored like the starchild says then why not the geth
11 years and I never thought about doing that
6:52 Technically Tali is still correct in saying SHE would never send active Geth to the fleet because Legion being their was Shepard's decision. Tali even protests while walking onto the ship at the beginning of the mission.
BioWare went from "This platform is not available for experimentation" to "Anthem"
Your comment on how the interactions make this more immersive is why ME still holds a place in my heart that no other game can fill.
I love your videos man, I don't think Bioware gets enough credit for planning for all the intricacies that can happen over the three games. Especially for scenarios that most players would never experience without doing it on purpose.
I love Geth, by far my favorite species.
Yeah they're the most alien but also very relatable.
old bioware/ EA.....a time when they paid attention to details. We didn't know how good we had it back then :(
If you bring Logion they actually acknowledged him and treat him a lot better in Mass Effect 3.
I can't believe I haven't done this before! Thanks for sharing!
When Legion said "Shepherd-Commander" on the Derelict Reaper mission, he was meant to be a squad mate.
your mass effect guides are the best bro, keep it up 🤟
This option is great fun, it's worth doing once despite the fact you need to leave Tali's mission until the end of the game.
Admirals: Tali we accuse you of sending some possibly active geth parts to the fleet.
Tali: hold my beer
I’m always scared to do the loyalty mission after recruiting legion cos have heard it might cost your crew that gets abducted
I think he made a video about that, you should check it out
@@winternet9478 oh ok. I’ll have to look for it. Just that when I’ve played through it and seen other play throughs they haven’t done that. Barring one when I saw Pete Complete do it and I was like “interesting. Might have to investigate for myself when I get to that point in the game”
Here's a link to my video on how to save everyone th-cam.com/video/EPVP1K8Ti3s/w-d-xo.html
You can complete Legion's loyalty mission and still save the crew so long as you do it before they get kidnapped by Collectors. Once the crew gets nabbed you have to do the final mission straightaway or you'll lose some of them
@@BigDanGaming yeah I got that part but wasn’t sure if you did both tali’s and legion’s loyalty missions after you recruit legion, does that have an affect on crew deaths following abduction? Ie does crew abduction trigger at any point before you do both tali’s and legion’s loyalty after recruiting legion or only afterwards?
@@tombardsley3081 I know this is late but if you have a few missions piled up, you can immediately do Tali's loyalty mission, then unlock Legion's, then do his before the collector attack since you get 2 missions.
Alternatively... You can just do it after the suicide mission.
"I never brought active Geth aboard! I Only sent parts and pieces," she says while standing next to Legion.
I realize it's two separate universes / IPs, but can you imagine the banter between Legion and HK47 from Star Wars: KotOR? That'd be the best interaction EVER! 😊
I need to see this now.
Damn game looks so good I didn’t even realize it was the og version.
Ha just at the point of recruitring Legion via IFF mission having recruited everyone else and all loyalty missions done except for Tali's and Legions OFC. Wanted to see what the Quarians reactions would be like. Been a tough slog getting to this point for me doing it on insanity mode. Its gonna be fun. will enjoy this (2 hrs ) after this comment was posted 🥇☣🔚.
I love how I have played this game multiple times and there's still stuff I've never seen.
As I understand it to save Kelly you have only 1 mission to undertake after the getting the reaper Iff which pretty much has to be Legions loyalty mission. So it's removing a save everyone playthrough off the table. I always thought it was a shame I didn't get to hang out with Legion more. It didn't occur to me that Bioware would put the effort in for something so few people would see.
ME2 is still my favourite game, I've yet to see anything like it for having all your decisions shape the outcome.
New subscriber so I understand this is an old video, I just picked up the Legendary edition for a replay and my love for the franchise has come back as strong as ever.
