What's your 1 year experience with the Z8? Do you still have your Z6 II and are you waiting to upgrade to Z6 III or have you upgraded already?

I have always missed the community atmosphere before the release of the Z8 a year ago; at that time, everyone kept posting their various discussions, speculations and imaginations about Nikon's future. What impressed me most was Chuck’s live broadcast. He always encouraged a group of Nikon users. Participating in his live chat room made me feel a lot of warmth and support.

Hi Van, Chuck’s livestreams were all about bringing Nikon photographers together in a community, which later was expanded to all brands as well as welcoming video shooters. It was great to discuss and share our thoughts on upcoming products. I’m looking forward to Chuck being able to return to start this up again.

Should be a really great camera from what I'm seeing. I had a chance to check out some Canon products but, the only modern Canon hybrid camera I like is the R3 but, that is way too much for my use case. It's a great time for all brands and we are seeing some really good products come out.

I'm really hoping the Z6III comes with something unexpected and revolutionary. We shall soon see....hopefully...

AI features are getting a lot of attention these days, Sony’s Human Pose Estimation introduced on the A7R V, to aid with autofocus and Canon’s noise reduction on the R1, are adding to things we didn’t expect, but are useful in our workflow. Panasonic has introduced live LUTs and with the release of the GH7, they are partnering with Arri to allow ($200 paid upgrade feature) the use of Arri Log3, which will also work on the GH6, maybe even the S5 II/X in the future. With Nikon now owning RED, we may well see something similar in the Z6 III, either LUT or possible REDCODE RAW.

nice video, used my z8 but for some reason it went on to auto ISO and couldn't turn it off had to do a factory reset almost lost my shot. I hate auto ISO

That's interesting, maybe a software bug, wonder if anyone else had that issue. I started to have difficulty mounting my lens the other day, like I experienced 1 time before dropping it off to get checked out. May have to get it checked again, it is now happening on the 17-28 f/2.8, first happened on the 24-120, haven't tried the 70-200 yet.

Love the Z8 - I was expecting to be disappointed by battery performance.
But its no worse than any other mirrorless camera ... 🦘

That power saving feature works well to conserve battery. I’ve left it on and put it in my bag and keep using it all day without it completely draining. When I recorded this video last week, I left the camera on and the next day when I went to record another, I noticed it was still on with 1 bar left on the battery.
