Then before that inside section called SYSTEM, the update subsection is completely different interface! Not clear if they're the same or OS vs patches/fixes ! I flashed a stock android 14 GSI onto my Jelly 2, rooted, installed a gcam port, remapped programmable key using the "button mapper" app, and now I'm happily using my phone with literally zero issues :) My philosophy: if Unihertz can do it but won't, then I can do it and will.
I really want to buy one, especially because of the small screen to help me reduce screen runtime. But man I'm not buying one of these with the lack of updates, they should release updates instead of new devices.
Would buy from this company instantly, right now, if they promised several years of minimal/the most essential bug fixes and security updates. Awesome product, but the lack of updates is strange and a dealbreaker.

I am so glad I found this channel, thank you. I would love to get the Jelly Star, but am holding back for the very update reason. Every time I try to speak to a real human with Unihertz, the Away message pops up. I am also wondering if the will bring out a new phone around August that would support Android 14. Yet, they will be advertising their Jelly Max through KickStart I think July 16. So does that mean they will be dropping the jelly Star? I don't think the Max will be the small size of the Star, and that is what I am going after.
Yeah I believe the jelly max was be thick and heavy unfortunately that's not a jelly. Hopefully they can get updates to the current jelly star that would be great
You are absolutely correct! If they expect people to even consider their phones against the mainstream ones. I'm really considering the Pro 3 but if be coming from the S23 Ultra. Not only the updates but the cameras have got to step up too. Then I wouldn't even consider the S25 that is coming out in a few months. Thanks again for the video.

Have a Jelly| 2 and a Jelly star, love the phones but you are spot on regarding support and updates. there is none to be find. I alos have a issues with NFC use in Norway. The Jelly 2 works, tho unstable. The Jelly Star NFC do not work in Norway. Tried 2 phone of both Jelly 2 and Jelly Star. (Jelly 2E do not have NFC) With NFC working, I would use the Star alot, because i hate using my S24 ultra outside the house due to its size and wight.

I've had my Jelly Star from September 2023 (so nearly a year) and I've been really happy with it. As you say, the hardware itself is great but I am not sure if I will ever buy another Unihertz device as the software support is pretty poor. I think there were around 4 firmware updates or so since its release but zero security updates. To be honest, I am not asking for new versions of Android but if they would at least commit to three years of security updates I'd be happy. I really like the look of the new Jelly Max but as it has no software updates I am not going to buy it.
Legislation within Europe is becoming increasingly strict and I hope that a law will be introduced that requires manufacturers to support their devices for at least x years. Partly to prevent people from unnecessarily purchasing new devices, which will deplete the earth even more. I'm not a climate person, but the fact that the Star is already no longer getting updates and it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better is not a good thing.
Yeah at least security patches. I can understand companies not wanting to do OS updates on a $200 phone or whatever but there should be a minimum of like 4 years of security patches. The quarterly probably even bi-annual would be better than nothing just to keep these things out of landfills

I do c a system file on my phone using my file explorer app from yesterday in downloads. Maybe that's the android 14 file. Idk but I can't do anything with it.
Nevermind. I found it. It's not under the regular systems update section. It's under about phone and system update which is weird. But its there. I think they had no plans on updating these phones but added a way to do it this way probably after u calling them out on not updating their phones lol. If so way to go
I just bought the Jelly Star this morning to replace my Jelly 2. I will say that I got an Android OS update (from 10 to 11) on my Jelly 2 back when I first bought it.
I don't have any problem with the Android version though. As long as my phone still is running all the apps I am using. Beside, in some rare cases, update may cause system crash, frozen issue
I like my tank 2 but I would not buy another unihertz phone, because they offer no support what so ever for the money you pay. Hell to the naw naw naw!!!
This phone should probably be 4 inch screen the new jelly star max 5 inches is making it a phablet again which is the reason we all switched to smaller phones I was tired of my gigantic 6.8" screen phone and not being to fit it in pockets or pouches.

my s21 phone cant record phone calls nor is it great at organizing videos. as a person who needs to gather evidence alot i need to resort to external device for that. thats where the tank pro 3 comes into play. long battery big storage is all pluses. i dont need software updates, its an alternate ultility that my s21 lacks. together im stronger with both. also too much support and intrusion cam make devices unusable. i actually had to give away my apple devices because of this. also had to give away my instago3 camera because they require me to use theur website and it never works so the device though appears to gave good support this is actually somethings that restricts my ability to use the devices. so lack of updates is freer and nicer for me. its also why i loved my lg g4 phone it was free from the clutches of overcontrol.
