- Leaving Pondicherry today after a great few days visiting Auroville, getting to know a few locals and learn a little bit about the place I am making my way up north now! First stop shall be Chennai where I am gonna meet some good old friends, watch little turtles being released out in the ocean, do some truck repair work with Ben and encounter some very pushy transgender beggars (surely not the first time in India) but this time I kinda scared them off with telling them they’re on TV! I understand their situation and it’s sad they can’t get a job but they’re always a little too aggressive and invade the personal space quite roughly. Anyway, have I told you about the crazy Chennai rush hour traffic? 😮💨

Dear Marc, be careful about sun stroke , your videos are super, you travel very fast to places . We know how difficult and dangerous driving in indian roads. I had been in Germany many times, and saw the German roads and displine on driving there. Wish uou all the best, be carefull.

Hey Marc, the reason you'd be getting less charge is definitely the hot ambient heat. If the battery is hot, especially on hot days/just after riding you'll find the charger will be powered down somewhat. you might find if the battery is pretty low the BMS may allow more current through but it all depends on how hot the battery is in the first place. :)

1. The cops asked you to leave because that's the end of Besant Nagar, if you'd gone a little further there is a broken bridge which is a popular drinking spot for the locals from the slums, the cops usually chase everyone away from there post sundown, in fact I was expecting it as the video moved along.
2. House lizards are common in every household in India - they are harmless, get ride of the flies/insects around, and if they fall on you it's considered good/bad luck depending on your perspective. What's more is that if you manage to grab one by the tail they'll leave the tail behind and grow a new one ... all creepy I admit, but part of growing up in India 😂

About your plan to travel north, currently the temperature is reaching 45°C+. Riding in these conditions may give you heat stroke. Please check the weather conditions before travelling here. J&K won't be a problem, but still you have to reach there on Eve.
Monsoon is going to hit south in June, reaching north by end of July. So be prepared for that as well.

I think it is the Besant nagar area in Chennai. I don’t think that it’s that unsafe as i hang out in the same beach in the weekends. The fishermen living there are quite honest people, but there might be some gang activity going on, hence the police remainder. Chennai is actually safe for the most part, unless you run into the wrong people by chance only if you’re a local.

Funerals in India are celebrated for the people who died growing very old, 90+ kind of. So people are happy they lived life to the fullest and have died natural death not due to illness or accident.
When a person dies an unnatural death it's believed that the human tenure is not completed and the person's soul will not depart and will struck here.
nope this is different in Tamil culture, we send off our loved ones to the after life like this, it does not matter how they lived or how they died.

Funerals are generally not celebrated in India, there are different traditions in south India it seems because generally this practice does not happen in the North or the west even when the deceased has lived a long healthy life. And even in south India there are many different traditions , many of my tamil friend have never heard of such celebrations during funeral when i asked them about it , they even find it ridiculous since its hard to not be sad when you lost a loved one and its not an occasion to celebrate and most people would actually think that way. You don't need to praise everything about indian traditions because this tradition of celebrating at funeral is rather stupid and pretentious

Hey Marc, great to see you are in my city - Chennai. Just a quick tip, I am sure many would have already shared so at the risk of repeating, it will be super hot up north till late June - early July when the monsoons come in.
Also, I believe since it is hot, your BMS is cutting down on the power that you are getting to the bike, to reduce the battery temp from going high
If you like rains, you can head to Kerala in late May - early June and you can see the monsoons set in.

You'd expect something designed in California to do well in heat. Tesla did well in Canadian winter. I'd imagine you'd sacrifice energy density for thermal regulation.
Yeah I don’t think it’s necessary the heat I charged fast in hot weather before 🙌🏼
Do check the weather and charging stations if you plan North trip. Though your destination might be the mountains or forests, it might get tough with Eve on the mountains. Avoid the rainy seasons. Come before the monsoon starts in North. June is fine I think.

This year even North India is facing heatwave issues. At my place temperature used to be around 25 or less in May. But hot winds are blowing and it ia getting upto 32. I heard even some places in Jammu and Kashmir getting record breaking temperatures. Whole Asia has to survive these 3-4 months somehow.

Just finished up your video. Loved it. Chennai is and always will be hot and humid 😂. And you were right, that neighborhood around the broken bridge is not quite safe during the nights so the cops did the right thing. Those trans can be quite annoying, I've faced similar issues many times ( i live in Chennai ). But they are everywhere in india. Here in USA, they promote the electric bikes as something gir going back and forth from work , so maybe an hour or more of ride time a day, or 60 miles for empty, maybe that's why, the chargers

Avoid overtaking from the left side...until you feel it is completely safe. Left-side overtaking can be more dangerous.

Come and travel North East India
Marc should definitely consider getting another set of riding gear because its only gonna get hotter here in India now and it can be dangerous for u to be out in the sun wearing full length kit and the fact that its dark coloured means that it will be even more hot. Maybe you should look for a kit more appropriate for the hot indian summer from some good local store. Or just wear a tshirt and sleeves to protect your hand from the sun. You would be more susceptible to the harmful UV rays coz of the fact that there is less melanin in people with lighter skin tone
The jacket is mesh only, I don’t think it could get much better than that…sure would be better in white tho, fair enough
