Thank you very much, Jonathan and Tom! I can't begin to say how much I look forward to your videos, and this may be my new all-time favorite. The catherdral organ is magnificent, and your playing of these marvelous pieces from the French repertoire, Jonathan, is nothing short of masterful! Your passion for what you do is so very evident, and welcomed. That goes for the smaller choir organ as well! Lovely, just lovely. Tom, your videography, particularly that accompanying the Debussy, is nothing short of stunning. Count me a huge fan, and a grateful one. Bravo!

Not only is the organ literature chosen perfectly, and played magnificently, the audio quality captured is SO INCREDIBLE. A gift to us listening across the internet. And filmed so respectfully and with such emotion and grandeur toward the venue and the organ. Absolute delight. My mother is an organist here in the USA and she introduced me to that Gigout toccata long ago. It is still one of my absolute favorites. Thank you for your powerful rendition!

Congratulations to you both for your great work!
You never disappoint your followers. You have made us enjoy a memorable moment!
The Evreux Cathedral, apart from being enormous, is of great beauty as well as the instrument, which is spectacular.
Regarding Jonathan's performance, once again corroborate both his great virtuosity and his mastery and professionalism.
Among all the works, the prelude and fugue by Cesar Franck would highlight the continuous dialogue between the clarinets and the flutes, simple but at the same time serene and profound.
I also really liked the sound of the primitive organ in the piece 'Elfes' by Joseph Bonnet, very light and descriptive at the same time.
Gigout's Toccata is one of my favorites. It reminded me of the sound of the Bridgewater Hall organ, impressive for the strength and determination in its execution.
I think the most surprising thing in the piece 'La cathedrale Engloutie' by Debussy has been, apart from the visual effect of the reflection of the cathedral in the water as if it were the Engloutie Cathedral itself, how Jonathan has managed to recreate the sound of a great ringing of cathedral bells.
And the finale, with Widor's symphony, I could say that it has been tremendous, surprising, a piece of great difficulty and incredible virtuosity.
Thank you both for sharing your arduous but wonderful work with us and at the same time showing us places with so much culture and so special! A big hug for both!!🤗🤗❤💖

Jonathan, wonderful as usual. Tom, amazing shots of the cathedral--the domes, the organ, the exquisite detailing on the exterior, the stained glass windows and domes, the "elfin" animals on the outside, the reflection of the Cathedra in the shimmering water and even the inclusion of the ducks swimming. I will admit to almost being dizzy looking up at some of the overhead shots. Maybe it is because it is early in the morning and the sun is rising here but not as beautifully as what peeked over the cathedral! Jonathan, we are blessed that God gave you the talent to make any organ sing if you simply sit on its bench. Tom, we are blessed that He gave you not only musical talent but also the ability to film amazing shots and then integrate them perfectly with Jonathan's majestic sounds. We are truly blessed that you both share your talents with the world via your You Tube Channel as well as through your videos. I am a little old to go flying across the Atlantic to be present at a concert but I will admit to being here at home by myself and "cranking up the volume", closing my eyes and imagining that I am sitting on the front row at a concert. You two have the ability to transform any place on Earth into a concert hall with computer access and good speakers! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and from the depths of my soul.

If I could pick a way to go deaf, it would be by either playing the instrument or sitting in one of those places with wonderful acoustics and a great set of pipes and basking in the ocean of sound. There is no other instrument that can hold a candle to this, not even an orchestra can. The presence that this instrument commands is immense.

Wonderful selection and playing! I love how the Barker system (my comment now has a little more sophistication thanks to this new concept I learned from this concert) really shows just how sprightly and yet accurately Jonathan plays. Seeing all the keys on all the manuals move super quickly is really satisfying. The Widor, especially, is so showy and exciting in that regards. Thanks as always for the awesome videography and playing! I'm on vacation and missed the premier but still couldn't help but listen in before I'm back home. 😆

French, weird and quirky and I like it, strangely.

I like to think the Barker machine was England's way of paying France back for rescuing the Sonnini Manuscript. :->

Hello Jonathan, when are you coming to the Netherlands again? Perhaps the St. Bavo in Haarlem is a nice instrument to give a concert on:)

Great idea for Jonathan to be invited to play on the 1738 Christian Müller - its long been one of my favorite organs. We know Mendelssohn, Händel and the 10-year-old Mozart all gave concerts on the instrument and to me it would great to add the name Scott to the list!

La potenza della Musica e di questo organo grandioso possano arrivare alle orecchie ai cuori accecati dall' ideologia religiosa violenta e nefasta !

Everything you played (while nice) was old music. The newest thing you played was by Bonnet who died 80 years ago. What about Jean Langlais? What about Jean Guillou? What about Daniel Roth? Some Marcel Dupre perhaps? Could we make the selections just a wee bit more contemporary if you please?

And what happens if one key is pressed by this automatic mechanism but at the same time you should press the same key in that very manual too? Or do you only have to switch that stop off?

So, for example, you press C on the grand orgue and also C on the recit, when recit is coupled to the grand? Nothing special, just both notes sound either way.

    •  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@spc0553 Yes, I see, but in that case your finger lands on an automatically pressed key. But if that recit key is used to play repeated notes one after another then it should be released first to do this, but you can't because grand key is already pressed. How can you "circumvent" this?
On electric organs where the keys of coupled divisions aren't automatically pressed, this problem doesn't exist at all.
(Sorry, if it is not understandable, I'm not a native speaker.)

I'll go ahead and say it now so I will spare everyone my comments two days from now. The program has some good stuff on it BUT it would be nice to have included works by both the Couperins, or Campra, Marchand, Clerambault, de Grigny, or a host of others. Why were these guys left out? OK said my piece---as if it was unexpected.

Well I think musicians repertoires are not unlimited. Although for sure Jonathan can play those, generally concerts are time limited and depends also on the demands of the organizers. Let's be grateful for this concert and probably Jonathan will consider those authors for another video😊

@@guessouiam7738 I've been grousing at the boys for months about the lack of Baroque music. I was sure everyone was tiered of my commentary on the subject.
